I'm a bit disappointed with some of the texturing I see. Specifically in the forests, and on the tracks and platforms, everything looks very bland. Also under that bridge it looks like no effort was made.

    26km (16mi).
Due to the low speed limit I think it takes about an hour from one end to the other

I liked the article very much. It seems that you have taken care of the details for this route.
In two weeks we will be able to enjoy it.
I, who play on console and don't come from TS, am looking forward to it because I haven't been able to play it before.
The only fear I have is Rivet's background with TSW. Both BR 204 and IOW were rushed releases with a lot of bugs and shortcomings.
I hope they have learned their lesson and this is a very well tested product. We don't want to wait months for them to fix it later so we can play it in top condition.
I will watch streaming and reviews before I buy it. If it's well polished I won't hesitate to buy it at full price, otherwise I'll wait for a discount.

If you want to see the whole route for real, go to Google Maps. Search for Chur Bahnhof, and you will see the start of this line. Switch to street view. You can then follow the whole length of the line from just outside the station - Google mounted one of their cameras on a truck that was pushed along the route, taking photos all the way.

Finally a rare route that comes a close as you can get to being worth full price.Plus if rivets can keep the release issuses to a minimum, that just makes it a great deal all together!(Considering the LOTGW was a strike out at the plate,we all sure could use a home run).

i don’t own the 406, and only got IOW about a month ago, so I am unable to understand what you are referring to. Seeing as there are maybe 2 bugs I can find in IOW, would you be able to tell me others that they have fixed? And would you also be willing to agree with the fact that since Rivet games has fewer add ons for the game, they manage to find and fix the bugs in a more timely manner than DTG does? (Not bashing DTG, I have made multiple forum posts explaining and defending them)

I think it looks to clean, no dirt, no garbage or clutter anywhere, unlike in real life, as if they polish the ground with turtle wax every morning..
It doesn't only apply to this route though, the TSW2 world looks very sterile and dead to be honest, I hope with time route developers will see the value in making the routes look realistic and life-like, until then I still won't buy any more TSW2 dlc's and rather stick with TS.

Switzerland is super clean, like Germany. So that actually may be realalistic for a route in that country.

As above, the lack of dirt and garbage in Switzerland is pretty realistic. It’s not a perfect place, but you’ll rarely see discarded rubbish except perhaps in bigger cities. There is a lot of graffiti around but again mostly in bigger cities. There are exceptions like on Friday and Saturday after nights out (remember them?) and after events and carnivals. But it gets picked up pretty quickly.

As for the smooth surfaces that is not so realistic, but hopefully in the released version there will be a bit of texture. The roads and platforms are quite smooth in real life, but certainly not as smooth as some of the screenshots.

I do not know if I am allowed to post YouTube links in here but lorirocks777 posted a Chur to Arosa cab ride video last month. You can see exactly how clean the streets of Chur are as Paolo drives his train out of town. Go to the 2 minute mark and watch from there.

In one of rivet route building videos they showed them putting down a few stain textures but I can’t see any in the screenshots.
Just a few tyre marks and tarmac seams would make all the difference.

You are right, not much clutter, and when it was mentioned the germans I remember them being extremely tidy, and if the swiss people is the same way, which the video show they are, then I admit being mistaken.
However, this video shows a lot of the elements I inteded to express, if you look at e.g the curbes you will see gravel and dirt lying by the building walls, inevitable is also damage and wear and tear on concrete and mortar walls, platforms etc., skidmarks, cracked asphalt, these are things I would like to see in TSW, not the lego-like surfaces you see on the various addons

I agree with the capitalisation point but do remember that not everyone’s first language on here is English.

Your reply isn’t exactly a grammatical masterclass either.

It will be nice to drive, while our Roslagsbanan is geting new EMU:s from Stadler, x15, similar to Alllegra, maybe they will appear as an DLC and new timetable?

I am liking the effort they are putting into this, the paints bubbles are a real nice realistic appeal. Also the 3d grill on top of the loco is amazing.

Looking at the screenshots, the trains and scenery look too cartoony for my liking. It’s all too clinical again with no real dirt, or wear and tear on anything. Looking at the video of the modelling of the train, none of that excellent detail is really visible in game as it’s all too bright and washed out.

I’m not buying Arosa Line on day one. I need to see a lot more detail and be satisfied there are far fewer issues than we saw on IoW and I won’t be buying it at full price (having felt a bit ripped off with IoW too). We’ll see.

Far better detail and effort then DTG. Step by step and taking their time Rivet Games reproduced with lots of detail and a stuning well model a great locomotive. The little things that are important and immersive are there. Well done!

Rivet's BR 204 is the best cab interior of any loco I own. Mind you, Rivet have been modeling Swiss routes and rolling stock for TSC for years, so this is right in their wheelhouse.

Having said that, when DTG are on their game they can rival it- the Class 31 is simply right in just about every respect (yes, even those annoying brakes)

After watching the dev blog for building the Ge 4/4 it is looking amazing! The detail and how they are experimenting with a new way to almost up the resolution of the loco is exactly the type of thinking we need from 3rd party developers. I love the rust bubbles. Very happy to see Rivet involved with TSW2.

Totally agree, Rivet clearly have a bit more time on their hands to nail those last little details that DTG often does not have the time to do.
    Certainly I don’t think it’s a lack of effort on DTG’s part .

Which makes it all the more sad that other areas had poor attention to detail, such as being told you’ve placed an ice cream rather than having taken one etc.

Yeah but this is not Rivet's business. This is core-engine tech. Rivet can't change the way things 'look' ingame (concerning lighting and colours).

If this is for you the definition of "poor attention to detail", this means that the game is pretty high level. Look at the highly detailed cab and the engine room, the lovely detailed stations we've seen so far, the attention they gave to the loco 'name plates' etc. etc. Sorry, but I have to reject your critism and I think it's just pointless. Nevertheless I value your opinion.

If so, I would prefer not to have an pre-order option and maybe get a first day discount like the Playstation player. But that's probably not Rivet's or DTG's decision, it's Xbox / Microsoft's
