Any Japanese route, but especially one in urban surroundings like this one, would be a dream to have.

It's probably a bit long as things stand. Route length has been increasing but still max out at around the 100km mark.

Threading the Kodama and Hikari services between the Nozomis will be fun. Kodama services are the all stations stopper, but the train still has to average over 160km/h between stops so it can be looped for the next Nozomi express to pass.

Also a simulation of cold weather operations in the mountain section around Maibara would be interesting to have.

When snow falls, speeds are reduced, trains and track are sprayed with hot water and stops at Kyoto and Nagoya are extended to allow for de-icing crews to do their thing.

Maibara starts about 20 seconds in.

I would love to see this route. It certainly is a nice run. Also since I went on it, I have a soft spot. Added some pics from my trip in 2011. P1000936.JPG
Departure board at Tokyo station. I was on rhe 12:33 service to Osaka.

Inside a series 700 Shinkansen. I was quite suprised how basic they are inside. Comfitable though. Things included include. Eastern and Western style toilets. Vending machines for snacks, also there is a trolley service too.

Taken at Tokyo station upon the return trip from Osaka. The train on the left is what I had.

I'm more likely to have San'yō Shinkansen because we still have 500 Serious こだま(Kodama) service there.

IIRC the 700 was designed to be relatively low cost - at least compared with the very expensive 500. Newer models do seem to have nicer interiors though

Still waiting to see if UW will make the jump to TSW2, as that's the only way I see any Japanese content comes to TSW2.

They did post a few months back that they were learning to model in Unreal Engine - so I think they will jump at some point. Given the current corona situation they can't enter Japan at the moment as the border is closed to non-nationals (UW are Chinese), so I think they may do something more local to them first.

Excellent route to play on TSW 2. Speaking of Osaka & Kyoto Stations they get N700-8000 & N700-7000 series trains to Kagoshima via Fukuoka & Hiroshima. They lack N700 supreme tilting mechanisms that are required for Tokaido Shinkansen services. Speaking of the N700 Supreme in this proposed TSW 2 DLC it can be used on a single American route for a future DLC the Texas Central Dallas Fort Worth-Houston.

Is this the newer model N700 supreme the one that ABC Dallas-Fort Worth was talking about. If the Toikaido Shinkansen was built Tokyo to Osaka via Kyoto there must be a tutorial on how to activate the Tilt system in order to maintain the 300 kmh 185mph max line speed. On the European routes in game 320 kmh 200 mph is the max speed on LGV Mediterranean Line Avignon-Marsellie. 190 mph 310 kmh for Future LGV Perpignan-Barcelona DLC.

As I understand it Tokaido is staying at 280km/h for a while at least - the current timetable needs everything to have similar performance. The S model has a few improvements under the skin, and the ability to limp to the next station on battery power if there is a power outage, which would help recovery after an earthquake shutdown.

All the N700 variants on the Tokaido have the tilting suspension to allow 280km/h on the 1960s alignment, though it's only 1 degree of tilt. Kyushu sets lack tilt so are not allowed east of Osaka. (The Sanyo west of Osaka is newer and was built for 300km/h without needing tilt) - AIUI a set without tilt is limited to 250km/h on the Tokaido

I just learned DtG had mentioned Hokkaido Shinkansen in their November 2018 survey on routes. This could be a sign that a Japanese route in TSW2 is possible and not just a dream we have.
