Can we please get the black F7s and Grey/yellow SD40s please? Love the look of Clinchfield from the bit we saw already, but it is a shame to not have the two liveries for each engine as with the TS1 version, as the grime of the engines and the mix and match nature of the the motive power seems like such a hallmark of the Clinchfield route.
I definitely agree. Looks like we'll have to settle for making out own liveries in the Livery Designer.
Agreed, this is really only one of my only dislikes for the CRR route so far, the mix of Grey and Black would increase the variety of colors seen on the route.
One think I will note about alternate liveries, is that based on this, only 1 F7B was painted into black paint, so it might not be worth doing it for the F7B, but ok for the F7A's.
Mid '60s. The earlier-purchased SD40s were delivered in gray, but by the time CRR bought its U-boats they were black. There was a trend in railroads generally around that time to switch from lacquer paints to more durable enamels- but enamel took longer to dry and wasn't well suited to patterned liveries, and so the era saw a switch across the industry to fairly drab, one-color paint schemes on freight locomotives. Also, black didn't look as manky when covered in coal dust!
Family lines scheme would also be cool although I think only the SD40-2s, GP38-2s, and GP16 rebuilds where ever painted as such.
Regarding livery designer, it's super limited with things like resolution, no automatic numbering, etc. Would be much nicer to have them introduced officially. Loving clinchfield, but it does sting a bit that we didn't get the same number of locos and (more so) liveries as the TS 1 version, though I get the additional intensity of developing for TSW.
Not trying to be rude, but couldn't you just make this in the livery editor as these are aperingly easy.
Not all that easy. Apparently easy, yes, the design is hardly a challenge; but in the absence of font support, reproducing the lettering exactly is an unbelievable pain. Moreover, not everybody is a LD user, and there is no officially supported way to share liveries. (Also, using LD means nonfunctional number plates)
People I have discussed it with have also said its hard to fet the right amount of weathering with the limit on layers. Remember, dirty locomotives was a hallmark of the CRR.
And there is the multitude of resolution bugs with LD that make LD liveries look pretty bad in a lot of cases.
