I've been thinking which routes we could expect in the next yearly bundle of Train Sim World. If DTG keep doing what they've always done, with the big yearly update of TSW, a new bundle with routes will be available. And that usually comes with a decent price tag for such routes, if one doesn't already own them. One US route, one UK route, one German route, and very occasionally something extra.

    My best guesses would be;

US; Clinchfield. Pretty much the only US route we've had since TSW2, and was also included in the Train Simulator yearly bundle. Although it's possible they give us an entirely new route, as they did with Bakerloo and Köln-Aachen. Perhaps an Amtrak route, considering the high amount of requests?

UK; Southeastern High Speed. Looks like a popular route to lure new people into the hobby. It seems to be a well known route in the UK, and brings some High Speed to the bundle.

DE; Hamburg-Lübeck. It's been part of the one of the yearly Train Simulator bundles. I doubt they'd throw in one of the TSW2020 preserved routes, and I doubt they'd throw in another ICE route.

Extra? Marseille-Avignon was once part of a yearly Train Simulator bundle, so I wouldn't be surprised if it makes it into a TSW yearly bundle as well.

What would be your guesses and speculations? :)

How many do they usually bundle together? As a wild guess and to cover a wide verity of routes I'd say:

    London Underground Bakerloo Line,
Hauptstrecke München – Augsburg & Clinchfield.

If they want to throw in a forth route, I'd hazard a guess at either LGV Méditerranée or Arosalinie.

3 or 4, including at least one from UK, US and DE.

Bakerloo is already part of the current bundle. I doubt they'd repeat it.
Arosa is made by a third party. It's rare to see third party DLC in the yearly bundles.

I doubt any of the already released routes will be in the pack, depending on what's upcoming in the next dev cycle. Most likely there will be a new cycle of routes coming out in the next few months and those will be the ones that are in the 2022 bundle. Maybe they'll do an undiscolsed one for a special pack, similar to what they did with WCMLs in last year's TSc pack

That really depends on when the update releases, if it releases in July (which was when TSW2 was planned last year, so very possible) I think Clinchfield's fairly likely. We're probably not seeing a new US route till at least July, and I lean more towards it being a August release considering Cathcart Circle's probably a June release. If it releases in August/September though then I could see the new US route being put in, or at least being included with the Deluxe edition.

I'd agree with you that Germany and UK are most likely gonna be upcoming routes, not current ones, I'd agree with Purno that Hamburg-Lübeck's the German pick, I don't see another German route being completed before before September/October, and I don't see the update coming that late. However I think Glasgow Cathcart Circle is gonna be the UK pick, not Southeastern High Speed, it's coming out in the right timeframe for inclusion based off what TS Classic usually does, which I think is more applicable in this situation than anything with TSW up to this point..

Based off TSW 2020, I'd imagine Sand Patch, Bakerloo and Koln will still be included, and it'll be a couple extra routes (I'd guess Munich, Clinchfield and/or SouthEastern).

I don't know if Sand Patch is still baked in the core game. It used to be for TSW2020.

Either way, considering Bakerloo and Köln-Aachen are in the current TSW2 edition, I'm pretty sure they won't make their return in the next TSW2 edition.

I don't believe it was, because it was only included in the Steam version, not console or even the Microsoft Store PC version

Great Western was in TSW and then remained in TSW 2020 ;) It may be a case of either BKL or SKA or SPG, with the ones not included becoming a seperate release.

Sand Patch Grade isn't in my Steam DLC list, so it looks like it's part of the core game. If that's true, it's pretty certain the next yearly bundle will feature Sand Patch Grade again. I doubt it takes the slot for the US route though, and will just be something extra besides another US route.

True, GWE remained, but NTP was added as extra. Plus, at that time, TSW was still relatively new and there wasn't a lot of routes to choose from. I'm assuming TSW will eventually follow the same pattern that DTG used for Train Simulator for years.

Hmm, interesting ideas here. I’d imagine something like the TSW 2020 bundle, with:
US: Clinchfield Railroad, another US route won’t be here for a while and anyways Cane Creek is being made by skyhook and DTG doesn’t usually include third party dlc in bundles.
UK: Southeastern High Speed: at least some high speed action should be included, and Cathcart Circle, imo, is either gonna be the deluxe edition exclusive route or it’ll be included in the collector’s edition.
DE: Hambürg-Lübeck: another route like MSB, which makes it a likely candidate for the TSW 2022 bundle.

Additional Content (For Deluxe/Collector’s Editions Only): Possibly Cathcart Circle, will be the deluxe edition route. Last time there was an American route, I doubt they’ll make another one as they might cycle to the UK instead. They might surprise us in the next roadmap and have 60 miles of the WCML in production, with 3 different trains, as the deluxe edition route. But knowing DTG’s current ways of business I don’t think this is very likely. As for the Collector’s Edition, I think LGV Mèditerranèe (I don’t know French so y’all an correct me lol) will be included, and a second route might be included as well, which, based on previous bundles, includes either another German route, or another American route, or both. So I think it’ll include Hauptstrecke München-Augsburg, as the German route, since Hambürg-Lübeck is already included. :)

Sandpatch is in a separate .pak file now. So they can take it out. I expect there will be two new ruoutes and one exisiting route in the paid version of the core update.

More interesting is what else there may be in the update.
    - Upgrade to Unreal 4.26
    - I fear for a UI update. From TS I know DTG tends to ruin the UI each core update. Hopefully they have a competent UI designer now, who is aware of what users need.
    - I think the Livery Designer will be updated
-There also might be an update for the Scenario Planner, but I am less sure. I see most enthusiasm in the DTG offices for the livery editor.
    - There may be some randomness introduced, this seems to be high at the priority list/

We should not expect: the first steam engine, updated passenger system, announcements

I think there will be nothing from the preserved collection, 3 existing TSW2 routes and one new route so there is something new for everyone, the new route will only be in the deluxe version.

I think HMA, SEHS and Clinchfield will be the 3 existing routes and the new route is one that hasn't been announced yet.

I am hoping there might be the 2.0 of Scenario planner included with a consist editor as well as 4.26 upgrade.

Maybe Clinchfield, but we can't rule out a US passenger route being released in the interim.

I'm not sure what collectors would include, other editions don't have the same rules that seem to apply to standard. For example a few older routes and third parties are (or at least were) in the various editions of TS Classic, like the Just Trains China routes. For that reason I wouldn't even try to guess that, I think anything could appear there, even Rivet's routes and preserved collection content.

True, but remember this is TSW and DTG manages it differently than TS. But it is definitely a possibility for DTG to change things and even include the Arosa Linie, but i believe it depends on how it sells.

Arosa on the basis one step better than the recycle bin.
Maybe Cane Creek which is being discussed elsewhere as seemingly having otherwise vanished off the radar.
For the UK well I suppose it could be another Rivet effort - IOW but hardly a crowd pleaser for attracting new sales.

Maybe three all new iconic routes are being worked on in absolutely secrecy, at DTG Towers...

Clinchfield, SEHS and the new Hamburg route. I would love to see them add with the yearly update a Consist editor that would allow us to pick each individual part of the train to use in the scenario planner.

Yep, we really need a consist editor in the scenario planner with the route, that way we don’t have to only choose from the rail cars that normally run with a locomotive.

Would be nice to have the consist editor, along with the Off the Rails mode, work in Service mode. So we could run any train on any route without having to set up numerous AI trains. Kinda like Quick Drive mode in Train Simulator, but with the benefits of the timetable in service mode.

Probably more like a clone service facility so rather than changing the service mode you could bring it into the editor. I think DTG avoided this because the dispatcher doesn't work well enough to cope with too many issues.
Even in some of their timetable scenarios you get issues with red lights, odd routing etc so this would be compounded if you then changed locos or added more things for it to cope with

The real railway has to cope with such things. More random events and routing is as per what happens out there on all railways. My only two gripes with service mode is that there is no editing available and that it's far too 'blue sky' in that after a while all runs become similar meaning you may after a few goes never use a certain train or route again. I have found the dispatcher in TSW2 better than the railworks/TS20xx one which I have seen cause no end of bad outcomes.

More randomness and maybe a disclaimer that your run may end sooner than anticipated or not be quite as expected.

Zusi 3 wins hands down on this front and diesel railcar simulator seems to be set up this way too.

As for scenarios they are far to stage managed for my liking and setting them up myself leads to predictability which I don't see as enjoyable.

    All food for thought...

Asking for Off the Rails for timetable (or scenarios for that matter) is a pipe dream, too much of a chance for things to be broken and incompletable. For example what if you decide to load a Class 40 into a MP15 shunting service for example? It's not gonna work very well, if at all. Obviously a extreme example, but even something more sensible like a Class 31 on a NTP passenger service could case issues, the engine might not have enough power to stick to the schedule or even make it up grades depending on how heavy it is.

Now I could see them maybe having two or three templates of traffic patterns that you could use to start building a scenario. Like a Default/Clean state with nothing on it, Standard which replicates a average schedule on the route, and maybe a few others like "Night," "Weekend," and whatever else makes sense for the route in question. Maybe even a "randomize traffic" option where it sets up a bunch of services with random start and end points.

Control regularly had no other option than to put a 31 out or cancel a train. Whether it makes it or not is down to lots of factors including railhead conditions and the driving technique used. Not to mention signal checks and station stops.

As far as scoring points goes that's fine and completing runs but a chaos/disruption mode could be a box to be ticked for something different with a large disclaimer as everything needs stating you may not be able to complete this service.

Obviously... the question in game is whether the dispatcher can handle it. Obviously the real railway has thousands of operational staff, the game has some code so it's a lot less complex and reactive than IRL

And again, the question in game is whether the dispatcher is written such that these things can be handled

I don’t think it will be upgraded to the new name of TSW, because this year’s protagonist is "Steam" and I want to know when to upgrade to Unreal 5
