Hello there, I couldn‘t resist TVL in the current sale and I‘m loving the atmosphere and scenery . To my question: On the westbound mainline, between Darlington and Tees-side airport, I encountered two whistle posts. When doing the return trip, I encountered no whistle posts whatsoever between Tees-side airport and Darlington. Is there a specific reason why there are none? Am I still supposed to sound the horn? Am I missing something? Cheers
It could be that the crossings have a sufficient sighting distance in one direction but not in the other due to the track curving away so trains are only required to sound their horns in one direction. I think there's at least one on East Coastway like this also.
I didn‘t even know that that is a possibility. I assumed that such things had to be symmetrical. As you can probably tell, UK railroading is outside of my area of expertise
Tees Valley is an excellent route! Got the 20 for it too, it's all I've been playing for the last few weeks
I’ve just done Tees Valley for the first time this morning pulling a load of steel coils in the rain. I agree it’s an excellent route and I’ve also used AWS for the first time as well. All I need now is the Class 31locomotive which is another loco I remember well from my youth.
Does it make any difference to the points awarded, depending on the Weather or Time of Day you choose? Thanks
I hadn’t noticed if it did or it didn’t tbh but maybe it should affect your points score if AWS & DVD are used? You should maybe get some kind of reward because your actively using safety systems which in real life I assume you would be encouraged to use by rail companies. TSW is a sim so rewarding the player for learning to use and actively switching on the safety systems should maybe reap some acknowledgement for following protocol. Or was using AWS and DSD just voluntary maybe?
Me as well. Also the Class 33 for WSR. I’m a bit disappointed the Class 31 wasn’t included in the Tees Valley add on tbh.
It should, but it doesn't. I scored a gold on an otherwise unplayable (bugged) service by leaving off safety systems, speeding outrageously and pretty much ignoring every signal that wasn't red.
