Thanks! I’m aware of the differences between the stations. I wasn’t sure if at Munchen there is an ICE in the in game timetable that came down from Mannheim/Hamburg/Berlin that terminates there and goes back towards Augsburg straight away. I think usually they go to Hackenbrucke sidings before reentering Munchen to head west again.

Thanks for letting me know about LZB switching back on on the SFS to Frankfurt.

As far as I can tell, the game ICE timetable is completely fictional. For example, several of the timetable services allegedly go to Dortmund- but no real life ICE runs Munchen-Augsburg-Dortmund; all trains to Dortmund from Munchen go via Munchen-Pasing, Ingolstadt and Nurnberg.

What the game does is have a train arrive from the west, wait at the platform for approx. 2 hours, and then sends it back the same way. To these are added depot moves, which only spend ~10 minutes at the platform. In RL, no railway leaves a train occupying a platform for two hours! Trains ending services at MHbf would unload, then go over to the depot to change crews, let the custodial staff sweep them out, bin up the rubbish and clean the fingerprints off the windows; let the catering staff replenish the cafe/restaurant car, the mechanics give it a once-over, etc etc etc, and after all that is done then it's sent back over to the Hbf to load, probably much more than 2 hrs after its arrival.

Naturally, services not terminating spend a normal load cycle and reverse out (but giving the poor driver much more than 30 seconds to change cabs!), then if southbound branch at Hackerbrucke en route to Garmisch or Kufstein, or northbound split at at Pasing headed via Ingolstadt or Donauworth to points north, if they aren't taking the Stuttgart-Mannheim-Frankfurt route which does go through Augsburg.

No, apparently not, for example ICE 614 leaving München Hbf 4:42 in game, in RL from April, 11th 2020 to October, 31st 2020 left München Hbf at 4:42, arrived at Augsburg Hbf 5:14

    ICE 614
    Departure board Augsburg Hbf

True, Matt explained in one of the first streams about HMA, the timetable is* prototypical. BR \o/
*was prototypical - today is historical - post covid etc

Hmm- you found the TT DTG was using... that would be an interesting read! Do you have a link?

Still, the real ICE 614 has not been sitting at Platform 16 for three and a half hours since it arrived as ICE 615.

he even gave the date - perhaps the timetable can still be found :)

One thing the game seems to be missing is AI trains that take the northern or southern branches and leave the map (in RL about 2/3 of the traffic). I understand the performance and console issues, but as it stands the sim really doesn't reflect, at all, the nonstop activity and crowded tracks of MHbf in real life.

Yes of course. We have a representation of course.

I feel the same about Köln Hbf as well, as in the real world it’s an incredibly busy station with trains passing through regularly.

The map also shows an ICE line, like between Wuppertal & Hagen, between Hamburg and Lubeck, could we be getting ICE services by owning HMA? (I believe the 403 runs here.)

At least according to this map (December 2019, the last pre-Covid map and the one nominally in effect in Matt's time period), there are just four ICE lines with regular services on the Munchen-Augsburg stretch (all the rest are occasional):

    • 11, which goes on via Mannheim and Frankfurt to Berlin, with some continuing to Hamburg (but handled by ICE1s, not 3s)
    • 18, from Hamburg via Berlin, Erfurt and Nurnberg. Each alternate train pair runs via Ingolstadt or via Donauworth and Augsburg (ICE 1s and Ts)
    • 42, via Mannheim and Koln to Hamburg every two hours, plus one train a day to Wiesbaden
    • 28, from Hamburg or Stralsund via Berlin, which ordinarily comes through Ingolstadt but one train per day diverts through Donauworth and Augsburg (ICE Ts, supplemented by 1s and 2s)

However, only one train pair per day. All the other ICE 25 services originate in Hamburg-Altona or Oldenburg

By the way, does anyone know how individual ICE service numbers are assigned? They don't seem to have any relation to the route numbers.

Not sure no, but do international ones follow the same pattern?

It seems I’m not the only one with LZB Ende issues, watching a stream from before Christmas and Jaime has the exact same issue :D

Thanks for the assistance! I just did a run on HMA (albeit with incorrect PIS on a double length train) without LZB putting me on the naughty step! :)

If the signal is red (and there is no deviation to take, obviously) LZB and/or PZB tell you the exact same thing. In the case of active LZB, you would have a "0" in the target display. E.g. 9999 meters 0 = in 9999 meters stopped that there is red. This is to say that although different, LZB and PZB work in the same direction (they will never give you two different indications). For example, you will never get a yellow if the LZB tells you that you can go 250km/h, in case there is a yellow the LZB, just like the PZB would have already forced you to reduce the speed, indicating the target in advance e.g. 5000 meters 70.

That is assuming that the semaphore signals are operating normally. If there is a malfunction with the signal (for whatever reason) and LZB tells you to continue through, LZB gets priority. ProfCreeptonius could probably explain in far more detail.

    Cheers

Priority or not, albeit differently, both the LZB and the PZB would make you do the same thing. Sure, the LZB has priority over the PBZ, in the sense that it does not activate or bypass the restrictions given by the PZB's active magnets and the attached acknowledge of various tables/signals, but you would still have the "restrictions" indicated on the LZB display-target, where "0" is the equivalent of having a 2000hz magnet active = red/stop.

Both in-game and in real life, PZB and LZB are working from the same signals. And if you watch the signals go by while under LZB, you can see the same yellow/green - yellow/yellow - red sequence on one of the Aachen-Koln ICE services which slows to a stop or near-stop because of a train ahead of it.
