I've gone and done it, I require a bunch of files so I bought a month.. Only thing is now I've got the premium I can't download anything, when I click on the download icon it seems like it really quickly reloads the page but doesn't actually do anything. It's not my month for obtaining TS stuff apparently.
I only have chrome and downloading prior to subbing (this morning in fact) worked ok Yeah all of the above, no joy.
For me, today, It also works with MS Edge Chrome (MS will remove 'old" MS Edge this month), FireFox and Google Chrome. pH
From memory, in chrome you can right click on the download link, click save target as and then it starts the download process. It still puts a warning in Chromes footer asking if you want to cancel or download anyway but obviously you click download anyway. Think that's it.
Other people mention in this thread about a problem with Chrome https://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=361&t=153198
I was having issues on UKTS and a number of other sites until I junked the paid for Avast licence (and all the associated malware detection rubbish that comes with their anti-virus) and reverted to Windows Defender. Avast had installed browser "helpers" that were a damn nuisance and kept intercepting downloads and quarantining them or worse still just abandoned the download. Since then I have no issues with downloads on the latest version of Chrome.
Apparently the latest version of Chrome blocks direct downloads from certain sites. This was posted on the UKTS site. " When you locate the file you wish to download, instead of "Left Clicking" the download link, "Right Click" the download link. This will bring up a popup window with a number of options, Left Click on the "Open Link in New Window" Option. The file will download in that new window." Hope this helps.
Will try later and report back, not on PC right now. Haven't got Avast, I tend to opt out of "browser helpers" if given the option to of course, nothing listed in my extensions as I even went there to disable my ad-blockers in case they were the cause. It doesn't, it just tries to open a new window (or tab) but instantly closes it.
Oohh Weird. Thought I would just give it a try and see. Tried the above and a blank new window opened and stayed open, hit F5 refresh and the file downloaded. Only seems to work in a New Window not in a New Tab.
Maybe because I'm on fast cable broadband? Don't know why just that's what it does. And yes I tried it on New Window as well as new tab, that's why I bracketed new tab in my post earlier. Edited.
The reason I mentioned my Broadband is because of a conversation I had on Discord (reportedly the "best" way to get UKTS support, just don't bother them when they're streaming or playing train sim apparently) where speed was mentioned by peterj.
Yeah that's what I figured as well Peter, tbh the new Edge isn't that bad (hardly surprising as it's Chrome based now) I just have shudders remembering the old "Would you like to make me your default browser" Internet Explorer.
I use chrome to download from UKTS when I've got a premium account. It's a tiny faff to do it (right click, save target as etc) but once you've done it a couple of times its very easy. I'm sure you'll sort it.
Oh yeah, I forgot I was going to try that when back on my PC, thanks for the reminder. I'll report back in a mo.. Edit: Thank you Chuckles this works..
