Hello, there are possibilities that they create an italian map? something different from the usual German maps
Well reason being they do a fair majority of German maps is that they have great relations with DB so getting licences is easy hence why there are many German trains in the game. So when it comes to making a route sure they can possibly do Italy but they need people who know the line how signalling works there what it looks like there but they have said they won't start on any development ona route till they get a license from a train company don't quite know what brand Italy trains are but it all goes down to getting a licence
I am Italian and it would be nice with the current graphics to be able to see a nice Italian map. It may well be from another European country in the end, but it can't be about this Germany hahaha. The game has already existed for two years and and in any case it is having success, it is absurd that they still do not obtain licenses for other countries.
The sad thing is, it is all about money that the railways companies want, for people using their livery. Even in a game or anything, clothing, mugs etc. Toy trains companies have to pay to use any livery on the model trains they produce and arrange fee's and legal documentation. It is a minefield for Dovetail or any company to jump through legal hoops. You would think that the railway companies would be more than happy to see their livery being shown in a game but "NO" they want money for it. Pity they cannot be back charged for the "Free" advertising they get.
Yeah like borg says and it's not a thing that dovetail face another example of problems with licensing is the f1 games by codemasters with the hundreds of sponsors the teams and fom have and guidelines FOM gives them dealing with logos and the rights to company isn't all to easy as you think
Although, going back in time a little, some companies have decided the free advertising provided by saturating the train set market is advantageous. I believe that this is why there are so many Virgin-branded Hornby models from around the turn of the century.
