So on the old version it looks like it has F7, SD40, GP7. If we get a GP7 and F7 that'll be amazing for livery designer.

But please dtg for the love of all things good allow us to actually use sidings and yard tracks when making our own routes. I'm so utterly tired of buying dlc and being stuck having to use timetable mode because yards are never accessible.

F7 A and B units- even more painting fun. One can do almost every classic American RR livery.

    The TS21 version came with a SD40, GP38, F7A &B, and a GP7 w/ Dynamic Brakes. The TSW2 version is only the F7 and SD40 for now.

A concession to gameplay, or a recycled model. None of CRR's GP7s had dynamic brakes, at least not until they were rebuilt as GP11s in 1979-81 (at which time they got chopped noses and Family Lines paintjobs)

CRR 912-915 were factory equipped with Dynamic Brakes (Cant find a pic of 912)

And it looks like they had their Dynamic Brake Blisters removed during the rebuilds (Here is CRR 914 rebuilt as SCL 4609)

If DTG decides to give us a CRR switcher like this, hopefully we get the original GP7 high nose than the rebuilt GP11, we’ve already had a lot of experience with chopped nose EMD locomotives so I think it’s time to try something new and drive from an engineer’s perspective in a high nose loco.:)

The rebuilt models would make no sense to include on this route as they came after the CRR became part of the Seaboard System with the SCL and L&N. (As noted by the Family Lines Paint)

I absolutely agree, I think it’s taken some time for DTG to realize what’s important to us players especially on a route like this but I think they are starting to implement these things (The last North American route being OSD (Released February 20th 2020) Clinchfield being the first new North American freight route for TSW2, they have learned a lot and have grown a lot since then. Being able to access the smaller yards and sidings along the route will be a great thing I’d love to be able to pull into a smaller yard along the route to drop off freight and continue on or having a more dynamic feeling dispatcher that could send you, or another train into a siding to let a more important train pass. From what I read on Rivet games forum regarding the Arosa line, when a route gets a release date, we will get a release date Two weeks before the actual release. Hopefully we aren’t far off from receiving that news! Can’t wait!

This is true as well, the route is the clinchfield railroad, not the Family Lines or SCL route that came after it.

OK, I stand corrected. I thought they were all like 900-911, but I see that 912-915 were two years newer.
Well, it gets kind of complicated. "Family Lines" was never a railroad. It was a marketing name* and common livery which SCL Industries started applying to all the still-separate railroads it owned, starting in 1972. It was not until 1983 that SCLI merged seven operators (SCL, L&N, CRR, GRR, AWP, WRA, CNL, CARR) into a single new operating railroad, Seaboard System (SBD), which came with its own livery. And that only lasted until the formation of CSX a scant few years later (in fact, the Seaboard consolidation was a planned step in the CSX merger process. Things were similar on the Chessie side)

CRR 914 was rebuilt in 1980 as CRR 4609 (it got Family Lines paint, but its owning railroad and reporting mark was still CRR). The photo above was taken in late 1983, with the former CRR 4609 now reregistered as SBD 4609 (it was never SCL). Here it is just a few years later, as CSXT 1709:

    1709fl.jpg

And, around the same time or not much later, her sister CRR 909 (> CRR 4611 > SBD 4611 > CSXT 1711): 1711CSX-b.jpg

*The full name was "Family Lines: SCL*L&N*Clinchfield*Georgia*West Point Route"

They were rebuilt into GP16's, not GP11's. GP11's were IC rebuilds.

The GP11 and GP16 were for all intents and purposes the same locomotive; the only difference was whether the rebuild was done at Seaboard's shops in Tampa, or by the Illinois Central in Paducah. CRR had both, but rostered them all as 16s.

DTG Natster Are you all able to disclose the source of the music in the trailer? It's amazing and if it's in the public domain, it will feel so epic to drive with this kind of music when it comes out.

In a different vein, but wholly appropriate, try the soundtrack to this Clinchfield video:

I do find it amusing that the engineer interviewed calls switchers "dinkies."

Great find, thanks for posting it. Really nice lash-up with four C30-7s in a nice variety of CSX liveries, including one in Family Lines colours, an SD40e and a GP38 and GP40-2 on the back!. I still think 1992-93 would be a good period for a DLC loco pack, especially with a C30-7, one of my favourite US locomotives.

I'm not sure but I think that by 1992-3, the C30-7's were pretty much replaced by Dash 8's. I suppose there might have been some still hanging around. Someone can correct me if my time frame is off.

A quick search on rrpicturearchives shows a few around in the early 2000's, so they may of still hung around for at least into the 2000's.

'The Official Locomotive Rosters & News' for 1999 which covered the rosters as at September 1998 shows 93 CSX C30-7 in service with only 7009 and 7080 not listed so the fleet did seem pretty much intact. They would have only been between 11 and 13 years old in 1992.

I have a question, from the streams I've seen the horn on the SD-40 is the same as the CSX one, will this be fixed? I remember them talking about having the sound, but since they haven't put it in yet I'm beginning to doubt that, especially considering the fact that they never changed the CSX sounds even though they said they would. If you guys don't know, I believe the horn is an "RS3L", and there's a ton of recordings on youtube of them.

They cant use a recording from Youtube due to complex licensing issues, it was somewhat discussed on the Arizona Divide stream last week.

However, on the Clinchfield preview they did state they have a better horn already, it just wont be with Clinchfield on release

I’m not saying they use the videos, I’m just trying to say it’s not an uncommon horn. Also I bet if they reached out to a rail fan who had a recording of the horn they’d be more than happy to supply it.

Well, as BS'ed as that sounds, it wouldn't matter considering they already have the recording. The only thing they have to do is add it, which will probably take months knowing how it goes around here.

I find it interesting that in 92-93 there was still at least one SD40 (45?) in black, either Clinchfield or SCL.

Another American coal line to have a potential to have an update that allows the use of present-day locomotives because of Clinchfield Railroad being owned by CSX post 1980s. Should introduce a new loco the ET44AC US EPA Tier 4 CSX 3200-3300s that can operate here and Sand Patch Grade. For the SD40 horn to save time Port the Sand Patch Grade SD40 Horn to this route.

They already did port the horrible sounding “placeholder” horn from CSX onto this route. That’s my issue, since in reality the two sound completely different.

Why? The ES44ACs that preceded them were much better engines.

Yes, in that video you shared with us, 8970, in what I can only assume was its original Clinchfield black livery, was an SD45-2. It was renumbered in the range 8966-8973 from its Clinchfield number in the range 3608-3615. If they were renumbered sequentially, we can assume its Clinchfield number was 3612.

Yes, the 3612 was put into service on the CRR in late 1972 and shows up in black livery. It was transferred to Seaboard in January, 1983 with the same number, along with the 17 other SD45-2's

1 January 1983 was when the new Seaboard System came into existence, absorbing the Clinchfield, SCL, L&N etc etc into one operating company.

This route looks nothing like the Appalachian Mountains. It's California! The scenery is all wrong.

Many times, it looks better in spring mode, but it's way too damn brown in summer. That color brown for the grass is California.

I have been in VA a few times, and it nowhere near as dry as they made it. If it's a particularly dry summer, the flora may get a bit dry towards the end of the summer and naturally the leaves turn orange/red in autumn. For some reason, they made the spring/summer version look like autumn, and autumn like it's some damn fantasy land. No place on earth has trees those colors in the fall. Hell, you could go to Google, type in Elkhorn VA and look for yourself.

I live in Virginia, and it's frequently very dry. Drought in the summers is more common than not.

Up here in New York State, it is not uncommon to see trees that have oranges and yellows in the spring. It isn't quite as colorful as fall, but there is definitely a variety of color.
