One thing that's always bugged me with TSW/UE4 games in general is how vivid and saturated the colours look. The colours 'pop out' far too much in my opinion and me feel like I'm playing an arcade game. Its a controversial opinion but I much prefer the 'flatter' and 'duller' colours of TS1. Especially when it comes to older trains as naturally they will be more dirtier and have a somewhat faded look to them. It also helps with the scenery, as vegetation and trees no longer look super green looking. I shall post the screenshots and instructions below as to how to apply these changes. Instructions: 1.) Locate your engine.ini file located at: ...Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld2\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor 2.) Open it and under [SystemSettings] paste these: r.BloomQuality=3 r.Color.Max=1.0 r.Color.Mid=0.5 r.Color.Min=0 r.TonemapperGamma=3 r.EyeAdaptationQuality=1 r.DefaultFeature.AutoExposure=1 r.DefaultFeature.AutoExposure.ExtendDefaultLuminanceRange=1 3.) Press CTRL S and close. Screenshots: All set with 'Spring Clear' setting and shot between 12:00 and 15:00
Funny thing - i find this settings way too washed out and kinda plain. I am impressed, how colors look vivid originally. To each his own
It's true, but sometimes it's good to vary things up. CRR looks good with these settings. More depressing. More coal.
I don't know what step I am missing, but I cant get these ini tweaks to work at all. Here is what I am doing: 1. I go to C:\Users\Kaz\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld2\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor 2. I open then Engine.ini file 3. I add the "[SystemSettings]" line as its not there when I open the text file 4. I copy and paste the different settings people post 5. I save and close the file 6. Open TSW2 and see no change
Ok but praying wont do anything. There has to be a step I am missing, or some line or setting that isn't turned on.
You do not know a lot of things as we all can see. .ini is not legit for some network transfers, smart guy
Because CTRL+C and CTRL+V are just too hard to press. Here's what my engine.ini looks like, using CTRL+C and CTRL+V "[SystemSettings] r.ViewDistanceScale=5 r.StaticMeshLODDistanceScale=0.75 r.EyeAdaptionQuality=0 r.MaterialQualityLevel=0 r.MotionBlurQuality=0 r.SkeletalMeshLODBias=-2 r.foliage.LODDistanceScale=3 r.Fog=0 r.BloomQuality=3 r.Color.Max=1.0 r.Color.Mid=0.5 r.Color.Min=0 r.TonemapperGamma=3 r.EyeAdaptationQuality=1 r.DefaultFeature.AutoExposure=1 r.DefaultFeature.AutoExposure.ExtendDefaultLuminanceRange=1"
It doesn't work for you, not for me Copy the instructions from the first post, smart guy. What - is not working?
They are not there. I only added them to show where code start and where it ends My full ini, and an ini, can be found here as well. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WqmGKjbxnHckd83EP3G4F2wAYudUGwPW/view?usp=sharing
Kazick Make sure that the dictionary is active and there isn’t another file path that TSW is using. You can check this out by taking a 4K screenshot by pressing CTRL F12, then go to Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld2\Saved\Screenshots
It is. Hit CTRL+F12 and the screen shot showed up in C:\Users\Kaz\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld2\Saved\Screenshots\WindowsNoEditor The same directory that the Engine.ini is in.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WqmGKjbxnHckd83EP3G4F2wAYudUGwPW/view?usp=sharing Or I can do like you did and upload my .ini to drive. Just with out the needless compression.
You set permissions wrong... Just copy-paste all here & Have mercy on us, what do we owe you? hopefully, your pc has coped with unpacking this amount of data
Just tried that, still no dice. Here is what my whole file look like: [Core.System] Paths=../../../Engine/Content Paths=%GAMEDIR%Content Paths=../../../Engine/Plugins/Developer/AnimationSharing/Content Paths=../../../Engine/Plugins/Editor/CryptoKeys/Content Paths=../../../Engine/Plugins/Editor/CurveEditorTools/Content Paths=../../../Engine/Plugins/Enterprise/DatasmithContent/Content Paths=../../../Engine/Plugins/Experimental/AutomationUtils/Content Paths=../../../Engine/Plugins/Media/MediaCompositing/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/GenericDiorama/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/AC4400CW_YN3b/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/BiLevelAutorack/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/CoalHopperBethogonII/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/CSX50ftBoxCar/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/CSX5201CuFtCoveredHopper/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/CSXDOT117TankCar/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/CSX_GP38-2/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/GundersonHuskyStack/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/SandPatchGrade/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/SD40-2_YN3b/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/Bakerloo/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/Bakerloo_Route_Gameplay/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/BKR_LUL_72stock/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/KAH_DB_BR442/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/KAH_DB_ICE3M/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/KolnAachen/Content Paths=../../../TS2Prototype/Plugins/DLC/KolnAachen_Route_Gameplay/Content [Audio] UnfocusedVolumeMultiplier=1.000000 [SystemSettings] r.ViewDistanceScale=5 r.StaticMeshLODDistanceScale=0.75 r.EyeAdaptionQuality=0 r.MaterialQualityLevel=0 r.MotionBlurQuality=0 r.SkeletalMeshLODBias=-2 r.foliage.LODDistanceScale=3 r.Fog=0 r.BloomQuality=3 r.Color.Max=1.0 r.Color.Mid=0.5 r.Color.Min=0 r.TonemapperGamma=3 r.EyeAdaptationQuality=1 r.DefaultFeature.AutoExposure=1 r.DefaultFeature.AutoExposure.ExtendDefaultLuminanceRange=1 And the file is in C:\Users\Kaz\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld2\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
Delete this file (engine.ini). Start the game. Turn off the game. Open this file. Paste only the content presented in the first post. Start the game. Proper final result: If it helps - enter the rest of the commands, but I would suggest doing it correctly. BR o7
I really do not think scathing sarcasm is an appropriate response to others attempting to help you. I do think breblimator was being a bit cheeky by the end but I do not blame him from reading your responses. Remember that most users here do not know who you are, your computer skills, and general technology savvy. Being patient and respectful is far more likely to work out for you. Cheers
Another shot with the amended settings. I'm loving how the sky looks naturally balanced and not overly saturated as well as the cab remaining fairly neutral looking with no colours popping out at you. The trees are also nice and natural looking, with no dark and/or vivid greens. These settings remind me of the Armstrong Powerhouse lighting enhancement pack for TS1.
Tried these and then reverted. For me personally the lack of contrast mixed with an already iffy skybox just made me flick back over. Thanks for sharing though.
londonmidland Tyvm for sharing, I’m really enjoying this as it really looks Awesome on my 4k asus rog
londonmidland - thanks for this information, I really do like the affects, did a “like” on your original post, but felt it needed a little more public appreciation on all your efforts on tweaking this simulation.
Would be so kind and tell me your settings? Or better - whole engine.ini? Your screenshots look amazing..
Yes no problem Here you go: [SystemSettings] r.ViewDistanceScale=3 r.BloomQuality=3 r.Color.Max=1.0 r.Color.Mid=0.5 r.Color.Min=0 r.TonemapperGamma=3 r.EyeAdaptationQuality=1 r.DefaultFeature.AutoExposure=1 r.DefaultFeature.AutoExposure.ExtendDefaultLuminanceRange=1 r.MotionBlurQuality=0
Thanks for the kind feedback. Personally, I can’t stand how vivid and vibrant TSW looks by default. It just looks too cartoony and clean looking for my liking. Something which the real railway definitely isn’t!
londonmidland thank you for the settings, tried it now for a while and I am pleased with it Here are some more screens with your settings:
I've you've not tried already, play in misty/foggy weather during dusk. It looks and feels quite spooky but at the same time it looks great!
Really love this tweak, improves the game a whole lot, though it seems to make DB colours a little purple-ish. Is there a way to tune the numbers to make the effect just a little bit (10-20 %) weaker? Or some comment on what the numbers do, so I can play with them?
