Hey Railfans, We're delighted to announce the upcoming launch of TSW: West Somerset Railway! It's a Diesel Gala as the D1661, D4107, BR Class 47 and BR Class 09 move through the stunningly beautiful English countryside.... I'm personally blown away by the screenshots we're seeing from this route - it's England looking its best and there are few things that can match that kind of view. I'll be bugging the team for more information and screenshots up until release, so stay tuned for more news! In the mean time there's a DTL article exploring this history of the route already available here. Best wishes, Martin
Can I just ask what is so difficult about implementing steam locomotives, The West Somerset Railway is the longest steam railway in the UK so instead of the steam fleet at the WSR you have decided to use the Class 09 and Class 47...I was really looking forward that you guys have pushed the boat out with this one and there is nothing to show for it also where is the Multiplayer that was promised? This has been a bag of rubbish. Please for all of us please implement steam and multiplayer!
More dlc for the pc and not Xbox version? Why do they keep releasing dlc for the pc version and not bothering to get on with the Xbox version?
The team is already working for the dlc on the Xbox One. I think that Rapid Transit will be the next DLC coming out for the Xbox One, or they decide to release all together.
I gotta say, the screenshots from this look really good and I really like the aesthetics of the BR Class 109. I don't know a lot about British railroading so this will be certainly be fun to play around with. Looking forward to seeing more from this route shortly guys.
Nice pictures BUT again......a very short route, bland loco's. And i understand going back in time etc but come on......23mile route? After all the feedback has said we want longer routes im just gutted...... been waiting for UK content and was hoping feedback and forum polls would of told you that people want GWE extended/more locos or a long UK route......but this....thats my bubble burst....ill wait another 8months for the next UK content.
A perfect opportunity to introduce steam locos to TSW, so what do they do, they give us diesels, SMH.
Which is some concocted fairy story that we’re supposed to buy into and pretend that’s why there are no steam engines, on a mainly steam heritage railway. Fooled? No. Me neither.
The West Somerset Railway will be having their Diesel Gala from 8th - 10th June 2018. https://www.west-somerset-railway.co.uk/events/detail/diesel-gala-and-rail-ale-trail Locomotives at the Gala include two Class 20s, a Class 50, a Class 45, a Class 55, a Class 35, a Class 33, a Class 14 and a Class 52. Strangely enough the WSR doesn't mention anything about steam trains running during a diesel gala. Steam trains featured in the Spring gala and will also feature in the Autumn and Winter galas. So, they obviously picked a diesel gala to avoid the lack of steam trains. However they could've done classic diesels on another route that isn't the largest steam heritage line in the UK to avoid all the negative attention. It's a strange choice, certainly. I am going to pick it up though; the two locomotives interest me and the length of the route isn't a problem for me as it is the full route.
I’m not 100% sure what your point is? I’m not questioning that they hold diesel only days on the railway. I’m questioning the rather convenient choice to set this during such a gala, happily excluding the need to simulate steam.
They may have had the plan to do it with a steam loco, but did not get it working in time. So found a easy excuse to not deliver it with the route.. Maybe as a later loco only dlc, after the have a route with a working steam engine..
https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/livestream-this-friday-6pm-bst.4643/ Judging from this post it appears that DTG might be previewing WSR on Friday. Worth watching to see what we can learn.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/257642439?t=00h51m28s Here's a clip of the Class 09 in TSW being previewed. Keep in mind everything is still very much in development; hence the lag, the unfinished coaches and semaphore masts.
The 09 looks okay as well as the coaches (even adding in new mechanics into TSW itself). Though, I would like to see how the class 47's functions are gonna be like then soon enough.
There did seem to be a reasonable amount of outstanding work to do but perhaps graphics tend to come towards the end of the project. I know some people have been agitating to have earlier notice of forthcoming add-ons so it's perhaps a little unfair of me to nitpick if DTG have announced this project somewhat earlier than usual since it's a given that there will be a fair amount of outstanding work if that's the case. I'm not convinced this add-on will be that popular as there really doesn't seem that much to do however good the locos look. We really need a scenario editor pronto to keep people's interest in TSW. Route editor would obviously be good as well but I feel that can come later.
You can't fault the modelling and visuals in TSW the Class 09 looks amazing and so does the route in general, if the Class 47 looks as good then top marks to DTG for that, as the sounds seemed to be missing I hope that is down to it being work in progress at the moment, will have to wait and see.
Well if this is the life of TSW then i might not be buying anything in future. They say that making long routes cost them more money but wont charge more (crazy). The graphics in TSW have put me off playing TS2018 as there is no comparison. But no long routes will be made.......thats train simulation over for me then, ill stick to fifa and omsi2.
The work on the 09 looks superb, and what I saw of the route livestreamed recently is lovely. Would love to have seen some vintage steam, but hopefully that will come sooner than later. Looking forward to the release.
It is just a little detail which makes me feel a bit more optimistic concerning steam-locos: I have seen the first connecting rods in this simulation.... Progress is always made step by step and this is one little next step........... keep going guys!!
I have a hp laptop 2.4GHZ while I am waiting for Tsw on Xbox will Tsw run on my machine with graphics set to low?
That’s what I been saying all this long smh until someone broke it down to me witch I kinda understand bro ? On the good note from what I’m seeing they are working on the Xbox console as well but we just have to wait
PC is where all the money is. The game was desgined for PC orginally, so all DLC is developed for PC and released on PC. Then it is ported to console later. That's just a disadvantage of not being a AAA company.
I'll just leave this here :P https://store.steampowered.com/app/577356/Train_Sim_World_West_Somerset_Railway_Route_AddOn/ Store page made public today, release this week!
Well, "Power and Shunt" sounds interesting, even on the demonstration level that has appeared in some TS20xx routes. Perhaps this will turn into an actual, operational route simulation at some point. By the way: "characterful"?
Thanks for the heads-up pschlik, much appreciated. Too bad they don't have a pre-order available for this module.
Can it happen today? If DTG does not pre-order, I'm afraid people will not buy the DLC right away, and wait for comments from those who bought it. Or wait for a possible promotion ..... That's probably what I would do.
Hey folks, I understand the concern you guys have about this - we were planning on announcing the following info later but given the feedback I've seen from you guys this morning I think it's important to announce this now! - TSW: West Somerset Railway will be priced at £19.99 / $24.99 / €22.99 - On top of this we'll be having a 25%, 7-day discount starting on launch, bringing the price down even further I hope this is more like the news you guys were after - were hugely proud of the West Somerset route and hope you really enjoy it once it lands! Best wishes, Martin
