Funnily enough I've just finished watching the ATS VoD too, great job so far Dunk honestly impressed, from I'm assuming one of the "sharp characters" of the community. :D
Looking forward to further progress mate.

Thanks for spotting that Eric! I'm now on pint number three, and it tastes damn good, especially after grifting audio all day.

    That really is amazing!

Well done indeed. Almost hypnotic to watch.

Did you have a recording of the real thing, or how did you do the sounds?

It's the real deal fleshed out with some preliminary engineering, loads of fun putting it all together too.

Haha, you can be honest with us all here Dunc - it's okay if you did have the odd "ripping your hair out" moment :D

Sounds like good progress has been made in a short time though. The sounds feel dynamic and real, and not at all squashed ;)

The fun comes in because I finally had an excuse to fire up my old recording studio, everything felt so easy to do, software-wise. I have no wish to be a musician these days, though I do break out my old Ferrari red Model 2 Jackson Charvel once in a while for some shredding and fretwork, she's getting old too, 36 years and still going strong.

I guess I missed old Fruity Loops (I think it's called FL Studio now) and Cool Edit Pro.

Yes, I certainly had a few moments of "what the actual ****?" as I was putting the tamper sounds together, but that's the learning curve when you haven't engineered sounds for the TS engine before. Turns out you have to reload the game for your changes to take effect - at least, that's my understanding so far after spending a couple of days at it. Wish the DTG developer docs weren't so vague about some things then I perhaps could have avoided a few pitfalls. Once you get the hang of the controllers and triggers, it all falls together pretty quickly.

I plan on doing no work today, let's see how that goes

And we're up to 28,000 views! That's not bad for a Train Simulator thread :)

Coming shortly is a little update pack for the class 303 emu, upgrading it to 26 destinations on the GMPTE liveries and improving the marker lights and tail lights on all liveries.

I'll update when it's been published

I'm a BETA tester now...WOW...:D I always thought that privilege was held for those who were up towards the top of the tree...!!!

Anyway... Being one of the first to possibly get a crack at this mod, I thought I'd share my thoughts... The 303 was in my opinion one of those items of DLC that could have been so much better if DTG had bothered to make the effort in the first place... AP stepped up to the plate and improved the sounds & other odds 'n ends like the scrollable destination blinds, Carmine & Cream reskin etc...

For me however, it never looked right... The marker lights looked worse than a pair of tealight candles and destinations which were quite limited for a GMPTE example...

    Cue Dunkrez...

I'd mentioned a few things which he picked up on, then suggested he would have a crack at some of the improvements... I was dumbstruck to say the least... Someone who actually listened to what a "customer" wanted... Not just for my own personal gain, but also for the wider TS community in general...

After a day or two passed by we went from this:
    Screenshot_Woodhead Electric Railway in Blue_53.44896--1.97108_08-01-05.jpg

    to this:

    Screenshot_Woodhead Electric Railway in Blue_53.47745--2.22948_09-01-08.jpg

    An absolute marked improvement...

The destination selection has also increased from 13 to 26 options, with (I believe) more to come soon... Now on the flip side of the coin I did have a few Issues installing the patch (Isn't that what BETA testing is all about???) but Dunkrez kindly [and VERY patiently] walked me through what I needed to do...

I was still getting error messages so decided off my own bat to fully remove and reinstall the 303 completely... After reinstalling each item, I'd restart TS to check each piece was working properly... Once satisfied, I installed Dunk's mod... This time it worked perfectly!!!

I can't say how pleased I am with this & look forward to more of Dunkrez's work / mods... Bring on the tamper!!!

Download this mod & give the 303 some of the love it deserves!!!

The good news is that DR73106 is now fully drivable from both cabs so we can expect it very very soon, also, as it's Friday, just putting this out there...

Some of it could be worked through - but a lot of it would need a new 303 model.

I thought of what you said about the TGV and replacing the default Pantograph

I think the Class 303 could do with a better Pantograph as the one on the model is really bad
Somebody on ATS had done a patch to provide a better pantograph on the Class 86
    https://alanthomsonsim.com/downloads/class-86-patch/
Then AP brought out the EP pack so I never tried it

It's a bit off topic but, I generally try and put some decent seed out twice a day for the local wildlife, for the ducks, pheasants, squirrels, whatever. I've been doing this for a few years now, and this morning one of the regular ducks brought some additions with her, first time this has happened. Really brightened up quite a dreary morning :)

Seriously chomping at the bit to get my hands on this beauty, have been following it's creation on these threads and has been great to gain an insight in to how much effort and hours goes into creating something like this. Many thanks for sharing.
P.S. Tell Dave, Ken & Brian I'll have the kettle on for them when they arrive at my house. LOL :)

My gosh! That would make me for one a happy duckling! Mark one out for an all-stopper from Brum to Euston!
And that tamper is going to look good in NR sidings and on possessions.
All we need then is a track-laying Plasser & Theurer as company for it!

Indeed, specifically, the 304 used in the Birmingham Liverpool, and greater Manchester regions the 310 as mentioned, and the 312/2 which had 4 units which were an uprated 310 from 75mph max speed to 90 max to enhance the services between New St and B'ham Intl although they were used on other services from time to time until privatisation when Central trains inherited them, they plonked them on the fast services between B'ham New St and Liverpool. Love to see a backdated trainsim version of Bham to London!

Never mind Birmingham - Euston... How about Liverpool - Birmingham...??? Had many a journey on 310 / 323's when I used to get sent to Crewe to drive buses when they were short... HAPPY DAYS...

Not sure yet, just finished the wipers on the tamper... Three sets of independently controlled wipers, front pair, front lower auxiliary and rear single. All animated as per reality, two arms per single blade, all pivots placed correctly and wiper blade drag in there too. That was a little more difficult than I anticipated but in the end only took about 6 hours to complete. I should add that it took maybe 8 attempts from start to finish to get it right and 'click' as to how they needed to be arranged to move correctly. The front pair are also slightly out of sync as you would expect :) Wiper switches are labeled; Cab 1, Cab 1 Aux and Cab 2.

I'm going to try and cram a few extra bits of functionality in before it ships - I did the wipers then thought to myself that one switch to turn them all on or off (as per a lot of TS models) just wasn't good enough, so broke them down into three sets to control. The way I see it, the more buttons and switches there are to play with, the better.

Really pleased to have decent wipers!
