I didn’t mean to give terrible choices , there are the only train companies in the UK that I could think of . It wasn’t supposed to be spam either . If it seems like spam then just report me
Just give it a bit more thought before posting. You could have found out what the current TOC’s are and then the poll would have been correct and inclusive. As it is, without knowing what all the choices are, you could have just asked the question and people could post their answers. People who drive in countries other than the UK could then answer as well. You do not have to have a poll in every thread. Polls are a tool for voting on something or gathering opinions and have to have proper useful choices, or are useless. Bad polls are taking over the forum at the moment like a virus.
I try to only use polls on threads which need them , and I thought this thread needed one . There are also often a lot more people that vote than people that actually reply to a thread .
Glad that I wasn't the only one wondering what benefit this poll has with regards to gathering information and opinions that could go towards game and development enhancements. Other than satisfying personal curiosity, it seems to serve very little purpose.
Your poll garnered precisely 2 specific votes. That's because you didn't do your homework on the choices and you effectively excluded two thirds of the forum membership. Treat this as a lesson in how not to design a poll. Word of advice: try to start fewer and more thoughtful polls in the future.
The vote is in off topic . If you read the description of the off topic subforum , it is entitled ‘ the place to talk about other things ‘
Asking a question, whether on topic or not, is one thing. Another pointless poll is still just a pointless poll though. What would have been wrong with just asking drivers which companies they drive for, without adding a poll that omits more companies than it includes? Why would the thread even need a poll with so few choices if you've already asked a question which allows for a wider scope of answers?
Exactly, it would have been much easier to just ask them to type it, like we all have anyway. If your going to do a UK TOC based poll at least load up Google and search 'list of UK tocs'
There tends to be more people that vote in a poll than reply to a thread , so I used what I thought would be the best method . I now see that that was the wrong decision .
There is nothing wrong with a poll if it has meaning, or at least has the right options. This has neither. And as you excluded the vast majority, almost making this a Southerner only poll, you would have been better off saying to reply.
To be fair, a poll* would have been more suitable rather than asking people to post what company they work for. Most drivers/staff won’t want to say what company they work for so a poll would have allowed them to remain anonymous. I’ll give you credit that at least you kept the poll anonymous. Most of the time, people set polls so that we can see who voted for each option. *obviously with more options
saltychipz#3569 you can add choices to the poll while it is open and remove options which no one has voted for.
