In TSW2 there should be more freight and shunting services.

For example on the german routes the DB BR 363 and 204 should have services on more of the routes, so the freight trains could have more meaning.

When i bought the 204 i was sad that it had very few services on only 1 route.
Also i just bought the Haupstreche Rhein Rhur, and would love to see some shunting on some of the small side tracks, and in the yards.

More shunting services will only be added if it is a realistic amount . If there is only a few shunting services for a particular route , then only that number will be added .

Yes, but then there are still less than would be realistic, as there are none. I already made a thread about the 363 and 204 hopefully layering onto Riesa - Dresden, as that route in real life know many shunting operations with these two locos. As flystentz already said, currently the 204 (and the 363) have only a few services on one route, I'd like to see a few (the realistic amount you talked about) services on many routes. Currently DTG is massively underutilising these locos, that even when stationary inbetween services add a lot of life and a different feeling to a route.

I think some shunting services on different areas on the different maps, a few times a day would be realistic.

So that you can shunt something at one place, a few times during the day, and something at another area some times. Maybe so that it would fit in with freight trains arriving/departing.

We could, perhaps do with some routes that would specialise in shunting. A port complex or maybe the ironstone network that used to operate around Kettering and Corby in Northamptonshire (for the UK). I'm sure there are similar areas in Germany.

How about giving DB BR363 from RSN HMA timetable services at München Hbf & Rangierbanhof München Laim.
Video is by E Robinson of DB BR363 from RSN shunting ÖBB Sleeper Train coaches at München Hbf.

Maybe DTG should also take a look at some of the excellent shunting model railway layout designs and look at turning one or more of these into a working title.

The biggest issue with pure shunting in TSW is that any activity needs to be 100% scripted and pre-ordained, unlike Run 8 where you can break down the incoming long distance movements, form up your locals and serve industries in whatever order takes your fancy. This type of operation would also need a mechanism similar to Run 8 where you have to leave cars for a designated time on the various sidings to load or unload before collecting again.

In General the whole shunting system needs improvement as it's only drive here, couple this, drive there, uncouple that.

What I would like to see is:
hello, build a consist of this wagons [wagon numbers here...] parking anywhere in this yard and provide it on track 22. Good luck.
