    Rules:
    - Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to a theme. Otherwise anything goes.
    - You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish.
    - Entries to be submitted by 9pm Friday (GMT).
    - Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves).
    - The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge).

Since May 8th was National Train Day, this week I will let all of you pick your 3 favorite screenshots to enter into the competition this week.
Contest will end on Friday and will be judged this week by me, JGRudnick

Not the most spectacular of shots but to me captures the atmosphere of a typical foggy morning commute in an ageing slam door unit perfectly.

Just had to put this one forward as a favourite screenshot.
Living in Nottingham (UK) the whole mining industry in Nottinghamshire & surrounding counties was a huge part of our heritage.
From supplying industries such as power stations, foundrys & steelworks, to heating your home, coal was the black gold that everyone needed.
Here a pair of tired and weathered Stanier Black 5s haul a loaded train out of Newstead Colliery back in 1967 on the Netherfield - Nottingham Route.

Just popping in this shot of the Avanti Pride 390. I like the livery IRL and it's a great reskin pack done by Major Wales too. Lastly, I was trying some sharpening and gentle depth of field to mimic photography - the joy of Reshade being you can switch the effects on and off as you like when playing. Just topped the 1in35 climb having taken the dive-under for Camden Bank.

I had to do a bit of digging to find this one. This shot is from way back in 2018!
It's 1942, and the Bessemer & Lake Erie has received a batch of 10 USATC S160's to aid them in the war effort. Here, they can be seen en-route to Greenville for modifications to be made in their shop building. The train is headed up by a pair of B&LE 2-10-2's. Down below, two Pennsy K4's pass by, each one heading up a freight train.
Route Used: Bessemer & Lake Erie
Locomotives Used: B&LE Santa Fe, USATC S160, PRR K4

Might I ask where you got that repaint, looks amazing, yet I've found few repaints for the Amtrak E8 surprisingly, especially with the reskin potential.

I got the repaint from Clear Tracks Train Sim, way back in early 2019. Unfortunately their site appears to no longer exist.

This is from the Munich - Rosenheim route and despite the apparently rural view is in the centre of Munich. DTG managed to model the Isar River bridge the wrong way round, but a minute or two in the editor fixed that!

One for this weeks official thread "Moving Coal"
Sadly not allowed because the Class 37 Locos are AP, Oh and the Sky & Track are enhanced, and Oh the Route is the DPS North England.
Think that just about disqualifies me on all accounts, hence why I love this thread.

I would be a liar if I said this wasn't an impressive shot.

I must ask, where'd you find that reskin?

Although this route in real life is known as the NYMR, it is not actually called the NYMR, it's called the Whitby and Pickering Heritage Line and was picked up on UKTS (Author gougha - Andy Gough).

I imagine I've missed the deadline but I haven't submitted on here in a while.

Here is one I've quickly taken of me trying out a scenario I've created on the Waterloo Suburban Lines in the 1960s.

Do we have a winner and a theme for next week please?

Seeing as we still have not had a response from JGRudnick, how do you all feel about someone else judging a winner to allow the competition to continue?
I am happy to put my hand up, unless someone else would like to be the judge and take the reins.
Would hate for this thread to die, I thoroughly enjoy it.

You have my vote as a substitute judge. It may be best to wait until this Friday, as (a) JGRudnick may turn up and (b) we are half-way through this week anyway, so not long for the next comp unless we stretch the next period to 10 days.

P.S. Because I can't contribute next week can I vote 1st 2nd 3rd place to cscarpenter PLEEEEEZE LOL

    I go with that.
To be honest I am gettting fed up with those that join the comp. and then disappear into the ether when it is their time to make a choice of who has won?
It is stated quite clearly when the competition ends and a decision needs to be made.
If you can't commit then don't enter.
    Rant over

Maybe a little harsh? There are many reasons why people might want to judge but unexpected circumstances prevent them from doing so. Illness (we are in a global pandemic), family crisis, arrest, work commitments or maybe PC failure.

Happened in the Where Am I international. I think twice right now.
It's fine, actually, being a casual thread, you can even take "most likes" (there is just one at six: cscarpenter, Class 42 "Warship" hauling China Clay), although some people are more prone to press like and get likes. JGRudnick himself liked posts up until: IronBladder, Thursday at 6:37 PM. It's not like anyone is going to be upset about it. Can even start a next thread, without this being judged.
... I know, I'm just being an observer of some great shots in here :) Too much of a sore loser, I rather don't enter :D

Just a thought, seeing as we still haven't heard from JGRudnick how would you feel about being our neutral substitute judge for the week and pick a winner for us?

That's very kind of you :)
Given my previous post it's all fun - if I accept you can win, but I said I'd pick yours, so we'd be corrupt, but if I wouldn't, I'd be mean! ;)
Sillies aside, I have picked three others to round it out, with some comments, and even a topic suggestion, which means nothing as the winner picks it. So if the thread is open for this resolution, you win by referendum and I can post closure ceremony tomorrow.

I genuinely enjoyed all of your entries this week, the freestyle theme produced a lot of different shots, each one with something that made it unique. Given this it took a quite a while to pick my favorites.

Honorable mention goes to cscarpenter with a spectacular shot that captures the atmosphere of a typical foggy morning commute in an ageing slam door unit, but he decided not to have this one entered into the judging.

    So without further ado...
In THIRD place is Matthew Wilson with a lovely shot of an Avanti West Coast train
    [IMG]

SECOND place goes to Blacknred81 with this great shot of a SD40T-2 trio pulling a TOFC train.

And our WINNER this week is Craigie-C with his wonderful shot of a pair of Colas Railfreight Class 37s
    [IMG]

Congratulations, and I know hand this competition off to you...

Thank you, that was a nice surprise to come home to after work.
I seem to be on a roll at the moment with my "Black 5" winning the official and now this. YaY.

I have posted a new thread for week 11 here
    https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/unofficial-third-party-screenshot-comp-week-11.40562/

The theme is Hard Work and will run until Friday 28th May to give you all plenty of time.
    Good luck to all.

From last I heard it was around 85-90% complete with still some empty areas.
