Sorry to be a fussy sod tonight ( I do like the route so thank you) but I watched the melodic Taurus with Matt talking about the tone it makes and its famous 347kmh top speed.

I started at Lubeck and 15-20km into a flat out run the below is all I can reach. Are they limited to this in real life? I was hoping to replicate the 357kmh after Matt spoke about it.

Have they missed a trick here where they could have built a scenario around it ( turn up, check all the components, switches on train ) and then go for it. I guess I can do the same thing in hindsight. Anyway I'm calling it a night for feedback until I get some hours to talk about the things I like too.

In real life I believe the Taurus shuts off power when it's a bit above it's max. speed of 230 km/h (you shouldn't get any faster than 240-ish). The Taurus that reached 347 km/h wasn't in it's stock condition. Some 'too-technical-for-me-to-understand' modifications (basically telling the on-board computer not to shut off power at 240 km/h) were made for fhe record run.

Ah that makes sense. Thank you. Perhaps that would have been a nice scenario, or ones with other trains where we run prototype tests

Yes, it would make a great scenario IMO.

I’ve tested the MRCE Taurus on LGV and it reached 252kph.

I do my speed tests on GWE, because on LGV its not how fast the train will go by itself, but rather how fast will it be at max power rolling down a steep hill. GWE a relatively straight, flat route, you can e.g. take the ICE up to a stable 375km/h without derailing, and you'll be in 15 mins in London.
But i also reached 150mph/240-50kmh ish in the Taurus.

This is also an important point - the Taurus used for the record was a generation newer one. Although the output power is basically the same, a 1216 is a bit longer, has more current systems and because it's a couple of years younger, it probably can be easier to prepare for such a run.
