I Am now 7 steps into the clinchfield journey and the task is now crr extra 3016 south - southbound coul. The game does not tell me what to do, i put the selector lever on 2 ( got 2 locos behind me) got the cut off valve on freight and the mu-2A valve on lead OR dead. .throttle on 3 did nothing but when i put IT on 4 i got huge wheel spin (sanding does not help) and train goes backwards. So i left the throttle on 3 and after 10? Minutes the SD40 starts to move, but no faster than 0,6 mph. After a vew minutes i put the throttle on 4 and again huge wheel spin (sanding does nothing) and the train goes backwards and derailes. What is IT with US trains and not wanting to move? Got the same problem with sandpatch, stuck in the journey because the game does not Tel me what to do and the connected trains do not move. Is there a hidden guide somewhere? I can not be the Only non train lover who realy likes this Game.
It's not because American trains are bad or the service mode doesn't provide any information, it's the weather in Journey mode that is to blame. You can find a lot of threads about this problem and if you want to complete it, you will have to be patient. Also, it should be fine if you start it from Service mode and choose a clear weather. Or if you really want to finish the Journey but don't want to drive at 1 mph for an hour... Spoiler: "Workaround" Just uncouple all cars and drive the single loco all the way to Dante. It still counts but that's definitely cheating.
IT does snow hard, but in real live IT shows to in the winter and trains ride ( cole has to be delivered) Why does the train not go over 0.6 mph? I mean it is a 34 mile drive. The SD40 did fine on the canadian route, completed everyting in that route. IT is Nice scenery
The game Just say, drive 34 mile, IT does not say how to set up the train so i just did what i had to do in previus misions. People need that Cole, so the train needs to be able to go faster in snowe weather to. I mean what happens whens transport stops in the winter? People freeze in the winter.
If you remember the petroleum train in RRO, someone suggested this kind of workaround and added "if you don't mind cheating" or something like that. I would just pretend that it was a light loco move due to bad weather.
Best bet is roll backwards to the red signal at the other end of the yard. Stop. Apply independent brake, release automatic brake. Set throttle to notch 3. Release independent brake once the amps have built up. Accelerate keeping the amps under about 850 amps. By the point you started you will be doing about 11mph.
