My suggestion is to have a locomotive DLC for a Amtrak GE Genesis. The GE Genesis is a diesel train used by Amtrak, and would be great for this new Rush Hour DLC, the electric Amtrak train next to a Diesel GE Genesis would be awesome!

P42s don't run on the NEC from Boston to Providence, 1 train, the Lakeshore Limited, does go from Boston to Springfield, then to Chicago, but this train splits off just beyond the Boston South station.

It could of course be added to SPG with just the one stop once daily in each direction, but would also add to the AI traffic occasionally. Making a new trainset might not be worth it, though, unless it could be used elsewhere.

Well, we should expect Amfleet coaches coming out with NEC Boston

Of course, the P42 Genesis will be phased out on long distance Amtrak trains starting this year, being replaced by ALC42 Chargers. I assume the Capitol Limited will be one of them. Plus it is currently running just 3 days a week, at least through the end of the month.

Amfleets haven't been part of the Capitol Limited since 1994, its all Superliner now.

It can be used in the Peninsula Corridor at San Jose for the Coast Starlight, but it only runs a short part of the route (It splits off at Santa Clara). It can also be used for the 6 miles of mainline on Cane Creek for the California Zephyr, but no stops (Thompsons Amtrak station was closed in 1997 and moved to Green River).

But both of these are still too short to commit to a full loco DLC.

Assuming we will not see another US route until 2022 at the earliest, the Genesis will probably not be the prototypical loco to include or add. Depending on the location, it might be a Charger, Sprinter or Avelia. Even the Acelas will be mostly gone by then.

Rats. And Superliners don't run on the NEC, because they're too tall for some of the tunnels.

Absolutely correct but the only Amtrak electrified line superliners can clear is the Keystone corridor. That one has P42s assigned to the Pennsylvanian service Philadelphia Pittsburgh because the Philadelphia to New York Penn Station segment is an ACS-64 600-670 from NEC Boston Providence.

They are also not rated for operating speeds above 100mph, unlike the Amfleets and Horizon cars (Which are rated for 125mph.)

For boston-providence why not make them as part of Amtrak Legends pack the P42 Locomotive does pre December 14th 1999 electrification project completion but for Post December 14th 1999 to December 2021 AEM-7 HHP-8 & Acela Express.

The P42s are gonna be first phased out starting with the long distance trains like the Lake Shore Limited, Capitol Limited, Empire Builder, Cali Zephyr etc...

I'm gonna miss the P42s. Hopefully they'll stick around a while on the short haul trains.

I figure with Amtrak painting a few new ones up for the 50th anniversary, I'd expect them to run in tandem with the Chargers for the next few years. (Unless they suffer the same fate as AMTK 66 or AMTK 156).
