As I was sitting around earlier today, as humans do, I remembered that the Preservation Crew is starting work on the Peninsula Corridor and Oakville Subdivision. The Oakville Subdivision isn't really the greatest route, but I love it anyways. So, here's just a few things off the top of my head that I personally would like to see in the fancy new upgrade. Yard Scenery When playing the scenarios on this route, you may notice that the yards are full of freight cars. They're scenery only, and can't be interacted with. This is a very nice thing, and makes the yards feel actually busy. It would be nice to have these in the Timetable mode, as the yards, especially Aldershot, feel very empty. A common problem brought up about these scenery trains are that they can get in the way of trains, since they can't be moved by those trains. So perhaps this other option would be very good: Brand New Freight Services Why use fake freight cars when you can use real ones? Yeah, altering the timetable can have some major consequences if done incorrectly, but hey, I can dream. I'm mainly hoping for more switching services, as switching is awesome. There really isn't enough of that on Oakville. Switching services need some rolling stock to switch around, so this would help populate the yards and add extra gameplay! Fun stuff. Perhaps some more services to Hamilton could also be added, because the section between Aldershot and Hamilton is pretty cool. "Small" Fixes I'm not an expert on Oakville Subdivision bugs. But here are some things (mostly not bugs) that I think can use a good fix: - Maple Leaf Motoring scenario, the train becomes incredibly hard to move after coupling to the rest of the autorack cars - Horns on the GP9rm and GP38-2 are badly looped. I'm sure that looping isn't the easiest thing to fix, but come on, I've heard these horns in Trainz, which were looped quite a bit better from what I remember. (Horn looping is also quite bad on the Caltrain cab cars and MP15DC, but that seems like a different story) - Add invisible walls to non-accessible areas. Of course, it would be nice if these areas were accessible, but at the very least, add invisible walls to them. I once accidentally flew my external camera into one of these areas while doing the Equipment Move scenario, and got kicked out of the scenario. This is all I can think of for now. Feel free to silently judge me, or list something else that you think would be great in the Oakville Subdivision upgrade.
Add a couple of loco DLCs. A CN ET44AC, SD70M-2, ES44AC, or SD75I would be fantastic for heavy freight services. A VIA Genesis P42DC would be nice to see for passenger services. Also, a route extension could be made.
Oh definitely. And the SD40-2Ws/SD40-2s, GP40-2Ws, C40-8s etc for local and heavy freight. Both VIA and GO Transit would be great for express and local services.
