Hi everybody, thanks for all your support on my recent post (Newcastle to Hexham) and if you haven't already, please drop a like on it. Today, I am suggesting a inter-city airport run for TSW2 which is based in Manchester. This route goes from Manchester Airport to Deansgate and is operated by Northern and Transpennine Express. The stations which NORTHERN serve are listed below: Manchester Airport Heald Green Gatley East Didsbury Burbage Mauldeth road Manchester Piccadilly Oxford Road Deansgate The stations which TRANSPENNINE EXPRESS serve are listed below: Manchester Airport Gatley Manchester Piccadilly Oxford Road The route is 9 miles long and faster trains can take up to 22 minutes, slower trains take 31 mins. The frequency of this service is every 5-10 mins and the first train departs the airport at 5:42 and the last at 23:09. The trains which operate this route are class 185, class 331, class 195 and class 397 nova I hope you like the idea of this route, please leave a like, comment, vote on the poll and leave me a follow as I come up with lots of other interesting routes. Thanks Videos:
I wouldn't class a 9 Mile route in one city as intercity. For a 9 Mile route which I think hardly anyone would really buy, that's a lot of work on rolling stock. I suggested this line but part of Liverpool-Manchester so it would have been worth it. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/liverpool-manchester.40701/
There's only one train that can layer onto NTP Modern pack if DTG decides to do so Class 185. Some services on your suggested route continue to Leeds via Huddersfield standedge tunnel the NTP
Thanks for your comment. If it is a commuter and airport service, surely it is a inter-city service. I like your idea on the route between Manchester and Liverpool.
Definitely love the idea as because I’ve never been on it aside from liking the rolling stock I enjoy the challenge of learning new routes
I have been on this route and it is really cool. The locos vary a bit and my favourite station is Heald Green as it hosts a vintage ticket office and a nice station building.
I wouldn't class it as Inter-city due to those factors, just an Airport Shuttle. I'm aware it does go to further locations like Glasgow, for example, and do serve more places, that is Intercity. However Man Airport - Deansgate Is to small to be intercity, as InterCity is general accepted to be Fast services between different cities. Thank you, and i feel I should clarify that I'm not against this route, as you can tell by my Liv-Man suggestion, but I just feel 9 miles would be silly for DTG when there is a highly-popular TS Classic route sitting to be made with it.
