Really excited to see dtg push their limit with it. but i think we are at least 3 years away before they implement it in tsw. or sooner or later. who knows.
This year DTG upgrades Unreal 4.26, and not surprisingly, Unreal 5 should be upgraded next year. Because NVIDIA's 40 series graphics cards will be sold at the end of next year, it is best to upgrade to Unreal 5.
Until we see what major urban centres (such as victoria) run like in UE5 on a PS4 we won't know whether DTG can move TSW to UE5 or not
PS5 sales will be even more impressive at the end of next year, so it’s no surprise to upgrade to Unreal 5 next year. In addition to what I said before, NVIDIA will release 40 series graphics cards at the end of next year. It is wiser for DTG to catch up and upgrade to Unreal 5 at this time. The new series of graphics cards can drive many hardware upgrades!
If only this was just a PC game... Unfortunately it's not so you end up developing for the lowest common denominator. Oh, and lest we forget GPUs will be in very high demand unless the crypto miners don't want to make money, so I wouldn't bet on high class GPUs being available at decent prices for a couple of years at least
Don't worry about miners. Now NVIDIA has sold professional mining graphics cards. However, the launch of the new 30 series graphics card lock does not have a price advantage, which does not prevent DTG from upgrading Unreal 5.
To be honest, you don't need a good graphics card to play in the world of train simulation. I'm still testing the graphics card with 1050TI IQ. I plan to upgrade to the new 3050TI IQ test graphics card in the next few months. The current price of 3060 is very powerful!
I think it is too soon to tell when the next gpus will be released. It would make sense in a normal situation, but right now nvidia can't even produce enough current gen cards.
Not surprisingly, it should be the end of next year, and the graphics card will be updated in about two years.
This is my personal guess to upgrade to Unreal 5 next year and 4.26 this year. The official DTG roadmap has been confirmed. As for how many versions of Unreal 4 will be released to Unreal 5, I think only EPIC knows.
Having watched the UE5 launch stream, I would say that there's enough difference between the two to make that "not quite right"...
