I think I may be getting slightly obsessed with TSW... Spent the best part of yesterday afternoon printing out labels and sticking them on a spare keyboard I've got plugged into my Xbox X! :D

My goodness, that's very elaborate mapping and printing. You have more buttons than my Raildriver! Well done! Don't worry, most of us are "slightly obsessed".:D

Elaborate control scheme you got there and I'm wondering if you have a button for acknowledging Alerter which is found on trains in the United States and Canada as the equivalent to German Sifa UK DSD

    Most impressive!

I'd like to try using a keyboard with my Series X but have yet to take the plunge. Is it simply a case of plugging the keyboard into a USB port, launching the game and you're ready to go, or do you need to enable the keyboard in an XBOX or TSW menu? Also, are the key bindings you're using generic or tailored to a specific loco or route?

I have, it's not labelled as such... It's the 'Q' key, labelled AWS (the same key works across the board).

Yep, if it's a USB wired keyboard you should just be able to plug it in and go, if it's a wireless one, shove the dongle in the USB port and your keyboard should respond accordingly.

As for the key bindings, they're generic so some keys won't work with certain locos because the functionality isn't there (so the doors keys do nothing on Sand Patch, for example), but if the loco supports it, the keys will work. The only key I can't get to work is the Auto Brake Increase, but I use the keyboard in conjunction with the controller anyway so it's not a major issue.

Wow so much effort! My question is, how did you manage to make the paper the perfect size xD

I made up the grid on an Excel spreadsheet, easier to keep everything centred on the squares that way! Printed them all out, stuck them on with a Pritt Stick, and then coloured them in with some highlighters depending on the groupings.

I was going to do this a while back but never got round to it. I can remember most of the keyboard shortcuts and controls from memory but there are times when I forget or press the wrong key. You may have inspired me to actually go through with it. The keyboard isn’t really used for anything else except typing in names on Scenario Planner, so I’d probably want to still see the letters on the keys for that. I think that’s the reason I didn’t do it before because I couldn’t find something that I could use that would be transparent enough to allow the letters to show through but I could have them small in the corner of each key if I did it this way.

That's the advantage of being able to touch type! :D
