Hi guys, Really impressed with latest dlc, being a massive DTG fan I'm pleased to see positive feedback, well done Dev team. Quick question to anyone that knows operation on the class 09 more than me.... When going forwards in the 09 I am finding that when pulling a car set the top speed is 14-16 mph... Does this sound about right, as unable to reach line speed. Yes, I am sure there are no breaks applied ... I assume that the loco goes faster when going backwards as I saw footage of an 09 doing 45 mph even when pulling carriages when it was going backwards. Thanks guys, ARM
The class 09 was designed as a shunting loco for yards, not for passenger runs on hilly routes such as WSR, this is why it struggles to go any faster than 15 mph in places. It tends to go faster on the downhill sections but the maximum loco speed is 27 mph so not sure how it could manage 45 mph.
Blame Sir Isaac Newton and that pesky gravity he discovered, along with the 1in65 gradient down towards Minehead as I was able to get 54mph out of the 09 on this section!!
The Class 09 was built purely for pulling power as opposed to speed - they are quite capable of moving heavy loads (within reason) but are not so great at going fast with those heavy loads Course the one thing we haven't modelled is the destruction of the loco when exceeding the operating maximum - which is what would happen in the real world if you were to reach 45 mph
I think the gronk’s motors exploding from overspeed would have already fired him...out the front window!
