Sorry but DTG has said many times that an Australian route won’t happen due to licensing restrictions. But I don’t think that we should see any new routes until we’ve seen some more content added onto the routes we currently have. I also believe that we should get editor tools before more new routes are added on. But a high priority is adding onto the routes we currently have (Newark Airport to New Rochelle is just unacceptable).

The fact that DTG has ruled out Australia does not mean that it will not come to Train Sim World. In the future, third party developers will hopefully make some Australian content for TSW, and if they cannot get a license, the trains will just have to be unbranded.

Besides, this poll is for what everyone wants not what everyone expects. Considering your...experience...with wanting a certain route, Lawjester, I would have expected you to be one willing to want something even if it is ‘wrong’ to expect it.

Guilty as charged pschlik. Now I do feel bad for the people who want Australian content (and anything DTG has not done), and I myself have the same situation with the LIRR and not getting it. And NorthRail1, DTG has stated that they can’t get a license from the Australian companies nor the the manufacturers of the trains, otherwise they probably would’ve just made the routes unbranded for TS or a third party would’ve done it. Eventually I hope everyone gets what they want, but in the near future (before the editor), I don’t think it’s the best idea for DTG to make absolutely new content rather then expanding on the current routes we have.

You’re kidding, right? The way to make everyone in a community happy is to make sure that your customers are happy/satisfied with the work being done. First off, the UK just got a brand new DLC less than a week ago, and you’re already saying that you need more? Selfish to say the least, but back on topic. Just picture yourself as someone in another country, for example, and DTG, along with plenty of 3rd party developers seem to be only releasing UK routes, time and time again. Literally, in the span of a mere couple of weeks to no more than a month or two. Wouldn't that make you in the slightest, upset? I’m particularly unsatisfied, because DTG and these third-party developers, have always shown favoritism to one specific region, being that this is where they reside. Still, if they’re marketing something as vaguely named as TSW, don’t you think it’s unfair and selfish on your part, to expect them to have something else for the UK, in such a short time span following the release of WSR? Again, I don’t mean this to offend anyone nor was this made to bash other people, but these are the hard facts and some people are just not realizing it.

Not really.....its not selfish or unreasonable, the UK is not only where DTG are based but its content they are most used to producing and with lisencing for TSW it will be harder for them to do routes abroad......yes they will span out eventually and hopefully will become as big as TS2018 but for now whilst the whole game is still a WIP they should stick to what they know and brush up on the content that is already available. Its a known fact that the current UK DLC have sold more and had better feedback than RT and NEC, simply because they have been more successful, more people wanting it, more knowledge of the uk and it IS DTG's base and bread and butter. So my point is get timing more efficient, quality to the max, and a variation in UK content as it is very small (and WSR is set in old times so not for me) then they can forget the UK and literally work on a few countries at a time using the same techniques and process that have been succesful in the UK.

You know i always hear that DTG can't do routes due to something about licencing. Well though that may be true for sole Australia companies but Genesse & Wyoming has a line down there and i bet they could get the U.S. licence for it.

I agree with Ian1991. The focus should definitely be on the UK. The company are based in the UK and it is much cheaper and quicker for them to do R&D on UK routes as they don't have to fly people out to other countries and it is literally on their doorstep.

The UK routes are more popular and are definitely the most polished of the three countries represent so far. Sure, make routes from other countries but focus on the UK first.

I don't know much about what kind of stuff different countries have, but I picked Japan, China and New Zealand because I would love to see exotic locations and trains.

This game is called Train Sim World so where they are based i don't care, in my opinion they shouldnt focus on the UK first, because there are a lot of nice countries with beautifoul routes and scenery. About: they don't have to fly people out to other countries and it is literally on their doorstep. If problem is money.. i can spend more for buying a DLC.

Therefore, if the company is based in England, should they only do UK content? That sounds silly. It's a train simulator, the more countries you have represented in the game, the more variety you have and the more options to choose from. You can't "close" the game in your country because there are many people who play TS and are not English. If I can drive a train on TSW between Paddington and Reading without difficulties (I've never been there), you can drive without problems from Barcelona to Vilanova, furthermore you can get to know new landscapes, trains, signalling systems, etc... As I have done with the English routes. What's the problem? Comprehension and open-minded.

You obviously didn't read my post properly. I clearly said 'sure make routes from other countries' but the focus should be on the UK. It is much easier and cheaper for DTG to make UK routes. A developer should focus on their core market if they want to stay in business.

For example, why have Rockstar never made a videogame set outside the US? Because there main offices are located there. It would cost more, take longer to make and be less popular if they make one set in another country. All these attributes can also be applied to non-UK routes in TSW.

I do not think just focusing on UK routes is either cheaper or the best thing to do. The cost of producing a route is no different then the next. I personally would not buy something that only has one country in it. As ITRAIL said this is called Train Sim World and therefore it should represent all counties.

Sure, obviously I didn't read your post properly, thank you. Why do you think it is easier/cheaper for DTG to make UK routes? I would like to see the table of economic costs they have per route to make the comparison. Demand information and license to DB, CSX, GWR, SNCF, UP, etc... may be similiar, and export the terrain and the decals of google maps is free.

The key point is why the UK should be the first. Personally, I prefer German, Swiss and French trains than Americans or British.

I picked 7 choices, being Japan, Australia, the Netherlands, France, Canada, Switzerland, and New Zealand. Out of those countries, I think Japan, Australia, and the Netherlands would be my top votes, since Japan is just plain awesome and Australia and the Netherlands have never featured in either TS or TSW. One suggestion for a Japanese route I could make for TSW would be the JR Yamanote Line. It's a good size, has a cool circular service pattern, and circles the heart of Tokyo.

I would love to see some Canadian mountain routes. Really anything that runs CN or CP would be fine. I would also like to see some Mexican routes. This was something that was never done in Train Simulator. There are some options for Ferromex and KCS Mexico. I doubt we will ever see any official KCS Mexico content as DTG seems to never have obtained licensing permission from KCS.

I doubt they have ruled it out.

What they have probably said is that they need to obtain a deal with the operator and they will only do that if they seriously look at doing a route.

I highly doubt you will see an Australian route though as there is a tonne of other railways more well known than the flat Australian railways. Even the Snowy Mountains between Penrith and Orange is not very widely known in the world of train hobbies.

Once the tools are out it could be done privately.

Yes, or the Odakyu line which Microsoft Train Simulator started with originally.

If they start making loads of sales for TSW and the market aches for Japan, Australia and New Zealand, you will likely see it.

The new Ruhr Sieg North route looks promising.

Any route with a number of branch sections just like TS1 which has a bunch of them like south london network , Chatham main line . Such routes would provide a plenty of options for various types of scenario creation .This time an Indian route would give a jewel in the DTG's crown. Any one can try Indian railway videos on youtube. They are just fabulous.

Last time I checked flying team members out to different countries such as US and Germany and paying for accommodation, expenses, etc is much more expensive than just sending them down the road to Old Oak Common for the day.

How do you know this? Do you work for DTG and have access to their finances?

The 'World' in 'Train Sim World' does not refer to the real world rather the fact that the in game world is open and alive and can explored at ones leisure either on foot or by train thus giving it the feel of a real 'world'. 'All countries'?Good luck trying to persuade DTG to make a route in every one of the dozens of countries around the globe.

No I do not have access to their finances, and highly believe that either do you so unless you provide actually proof there is no need to talk any further.

PS in case you did not watch the last stream Matt did let it slip that there was 3 other routes already in production.

Question (and yes I am asking honestly here): When it comes to licensing can I presume that there would be no issues creating the scenery, train station and track layouts, even the buildings and so on, as these are not licensable items, whereas a logo or maybe a train layout WOULD be licensable or somehow patented/registered...

    Hi ARuscoe

Usually we're ok on scenery. Licensable items tends to be branding, so it's mainly locomotives and their liveries. We do have to be careful with iconic buildings such as national monuments. There are times where we can include a building as part of the route's scenery but we can't make it a focal point of that route's marketing.
Fortunately we do have a legal team specialising in licensing that we can refer to at any time :)

Both countries have there own high speed emu's (based on the italian pendolino's) and poland especially has an great variety in trains.

    Picked France, China, and Japan.
Japan is especially awesome, all those local, semi-express, express, limited express and through services will definitely make a perfect service mode.
I can see those lines going to be harsh to computers, though, as there are going to be a whole lot of different types of trains running on the same line at the same time, across an urban area with lots of buildings.

Czech Republic, Denmark, Poland, The Netherlands. All countries that border Germany and the one thing I would love to see is cross-border railways out of Germany.

France, Japan and Switzerland are leading the vote.
TrainSim-Luke , could you give us a shout out of what would be the probable candidates for each of the three countries?

I suspect it would be Marseilles-Avignon LGV Rhône-Alpes & Méditerranée for France, Osaka-Kyoto Tōkaidō Shinkansen for Japan, and absolutely no idea about Switzerland because I know nothing about Swiss rails...

In an recent survey which was included in an newsletter you could choose from several options which routes you wanted to see in the future.

Out of all the options 2 included where LGV Nord: Paris - Calais and Hokkaido Shinkansen.

There a plenty of places I would like to see in TSW, particularly I would like somthing like the TGV from Paris to Belgium personally. However I would also like to see the rest of the GWR mainline put into the game as Reading to pad is such a small amount of it, from Bristol through Wales you have different speeds and gradients which would make it more fun. I would also like to see it have somthing like the metro or East coast mainline or somthing through the Canadian mountain railway as that's an awesome bit of track

There are some things that have not featured in any of the TSW routes on sale so far, when and if we see them may be the catalyst for new projects. We haven't seen mountains, or, oceans, yet, breaking waves onto the seashore was quite interesting in TS19, particularly for the coastal routes, Devon Riviera in Britain and Pacific Surfliner in USA, being a couple of good examples. I think we would need a demo of what DTG can construct in UE4, what are mountains like in the game, the draw distance, the snow, when we get to see this on a grand scale, then, hopefully, we might be able to expect feature rich countries, such as Austria, Switzerland, etc, in the future, where mountains are the most prominant feature of the locality, but, if DTG steer away from building such features then we might never see anything like this in the game, it all looks and sounds good in a poll, but, if it can't be built then our ideas won't see the light of day, let's wait and see what DTG offer us in 2019 first. I personally think the new Trans-Pennine was the first of the 3 routes that Matt.P let slip on his twitch stream, we can only guess that there will be new German & American ones to come next, which wil probably account for the first 3/6 months of the new year, then we can see what looks good in the game, and how well it is received, before requesting other things. I don't know what other trees and vegetation DTG have available to add to specific routes, palm trees and cactus for sunny and desert types etc, would be interesting to see, I'm sure there are a lot of new things to come yet in the game for all of us to view.
I have just been playing on a narrow gauge freeware route from the Czech Republic in TS19, that might be another avenue for DTG to explore in the coming years, different gauge routes, Spanish & Russian, for example, which nobody has yet mentioned, I'm sure there are lots and lots of ideas for future ventures that DTG could consider.

I would like to see some Czech routes, but it's not in the pool.
My favourite engine if anyone cares:
