Hello all. I’ve purchased GCC today and I’m already working on a few fixes and enhancements for the route. The first thing I have done is weather the overhead line equipment (OHLE) as it is naturally weathered due to the age of it. It is no longer that clean, silver metal colour, but more of a yellowish weathered colour. I’ve also fixed the weird issue with the LED signal visibility, with the colours not displaying properly from a distance due to it having a weird reflection issue. If anyone is also working on improvements for this route, I would be happy to collaborate with you to make it into one big pack Screenshots:
Would it be possible to improve the shop textures in the Central station a bit? Those shops being like 144p are pretty weird.
Oh that's correct. Posters and stuff, 20 MB. I wait with the download until both mod creators talked to each other ;-) Edit: Whoops, THANK YOU of course good guy londonmidland
Im holding off for a LM pack, no disrespect to the other guy but the low res billboards are a killer turn off.
You really are a unsung hero for TSW2 PC players. As a console player, I envy you all. People should be able to donate a small amount each time they download your packs as a thank you.
Did some marker and headlight visual upgrades to the 314, to make it look more realistic. - Both are now less bright - Corrected the colour temperature from a daylight white to a warm white - Natural fade out around the edges of the lens - Internal dirt look inside the lens, giving it more of a 3D look
Some work with the 314 windows, with the glass now actually looking like glass and not totally transparent. In more detail: - Weathered glass, both visible from the interior and exterior - Dirt ‘follows’ the where the wiper blade doesn’t reach, whilst the area it does remains less dirty - Brand new dirt textures on glass, as well as higher resolution from 1K to 2K - Worn cab button labels, with some letters scratched off
Hahaha it's paradox but the dirt looks beautiful. I like the "smeared" passenger windows, fantastic job. I'll return to that route once your mod is released in purrfection ;-)
You wonder why dtg didn't go the extra mile. They are not demanding changes if you are already working on the items in question.. Can only assume it's due to time and/or memory constraints.
Now its time to weather the 314 and make it less shiny/glossy by altering the materials. As you can see, I have used the pantograph coach as a test bed. I've weathered it externally, as well as significantly reduced the glossiness of the carriage and underframe. The default look can be seen on the carriage to the left.
The weathering does look very good. The trains on TSW are generally too clean, but I wonder if it is under the terms of the licence that they have to represent them in an immaculate state. I notice the BR trains tend not to have such a bright sheen on them.
Under the pantograph it can get very dirty, with corrosion and water stains on the vinyl/paint work. I think it’s the metals mixing with rain water, which causes it to stain. Trains in the UK get very dirty if not washed for a long period of time. TSW doesn’t really weather modern TOC trains too well. Probably licensing reasons.
Is there any way to crack a livery designer file like a .pak can be cracked? The problem with .pak repaints is that they are a 100% replacement, you don't get a varied population- but you can do soooo much more with Photoshop than LD.
I’m not sure you can crack or hack livery designer to include .pak files unfortunately. Livery designer is good for the basics, but it certainly isn’t an external editor replacement.
I don't think I was quite clear. It's possible using Livery Manager to extract (and share) LD liveries as .tsw2liv files, and I was wondering if it was possible to crack those in the same way .pak files can be cracked.
Is it possible to alter the station lighting especially at night so you can see or is that a core issue?
Unfortunately I have no knowledge of this. I also use the -DX12 command so livery editor doesn't work for me anyway.
External weathering complete.. I've also amended the front yellow panel, as the default had a slight weird green tinge to it. I've made it so its slightly more orange and yellow. I aim to compile and release this pack tomorrow.
Seeing as someone else has already done one, I’m not going to continue with it. Instead I’ll use my resources on other things, such as weathering.
Yeah, and I wouldn't blame you. Did you think I was going to make a request?, lol. I wasn't just curious as I have the artistic talents of a slug.
That looks really, really good, but it's a bit, and I mean just a tad bit too much, particularly because of the specific shapes. If you got rid of the distinctive shapes, it would look superb.
Thanks for the feedback. It was my first ever ‘proper’ weathering attempt, so I think I’ll know what to do differently next time.
