Not sure how you concluded that. Three out of four statements suggests more than one loco with the 4th one (Sam’s) inconclusive. Also Jasper has posted here to state that there will be more than one loco, one of which will be new to the game. Conclusion there will be more than one train on the route (albeit only one new one. QED (not sure what that means but it sounds good). Logically they need to include a DMU (eg sprinter) for St Ives and a Class 43 or other loco if they are going to provide InterCity services as far as Truro. Anyway, we shall see soon enough.
Please, think twice about what reason it could be that the train was in the "wrong" livery. As a payware developer, you have to take care about branding - and if you want to use a branding that you don't own, you have to agree on some sort of contract with the license owner. And, sometimes you won't find an agreement that works for both sides. But, because we loved the route, we included the train in a different livery - one that we were able to get licensing on.
Still seems like an odd choice when there was a livery more appropriate for the time the route is set that would have no licencing concerns.
Because the livery used under SWT featured no logos externally. Basic liveries are actually quite hard to protect.
Yes, unbranded LT red, but SWR added 'Island Line' branding to them. NSE was probably just a safe bet. They may have worked something out for the 38 stock, which I'll bet is in LT with lettering.
Red with solid roundels would be about as appropriate as possible for Bakerloo, anything older will just look a bit silly again.
There is nothing to licence, other than perhaps a couple of fonts. If DTG won't allow realistic liveries that's a bigger problem. It's also not like they care about fonts either, as the NSE livery proves.
Thanks, I knew I had seen it somewhere! I wonder if they have forgot to add it or the information isn't known yet.
The proper route for it is Isle of Wight Island Line. This route has Mk3 Shell based Class 150 Leyland National bus Based chassis Pacer
The class 150 wasn't a Pacer, it had a mark 3 based body shell not a Leyland National bus body shell and ran on bogies. The Pacer was a Leyland Bus body shell not a mark 3 body shell and had a four wheel chassis, the original Devon and Cornwall ones were called Skippers and were in a faux GWR chocolate and cream livery.
Not on the roadmap, doubt they'll have announced it elsewhere tbh. I do wonder how long it's going to sit in "in planning". It's been there for, what? 6 weeks now. I wonder if they put it on the roadmap to say "we came up with some ideas, we're going to do this one, but we're waiting till our other stuff is done". Sort of like a "to do" post-it note but on the front door of the office, rather than on a desk/pc monitor.
I find it a little surprising that they cannot reveal or haven't decided what they are including with the route yet. Presumably they have settled on a time period for the route. There isn't that much scope to be honest. Trains from Paddington would be a HST, Cross Country Services (if included) would be either a HST or Voyager or possibly a class 47 and mark 2's and the local trains, of which the class 150/2 would be the obvious contender both for the branch services and mainline locals.
I think it might have been added because St Ives has been in the global news recently regarding the G7. Or to stop me "spamming" the suggestion thread D
Four actually, I mentioned the HST twice, the consists might vary by one coach but fundamentally they would be the same. If they have decided on a time period, i.e. end of BR or early privatisation then that limits the amount of liveries or stock. Maybe they haven't settled on an exact period to model yet so maybe that is why they haven't announced any stock. There seems to be speculation that there are only two trains included, of which the HST and class 150/2 would be the most obvious choices whether it was 1991 or 2010. Although in the early 1990's a first generation DMU would be desirable for the St. Ives branch, the class 101 could with reasonable realism cover that line. I suggested other possibilities but they are very unlikely. If they wanted to cover cross country services at the end of BR or up the the introduction of the Voyagers, the HST would suffice, there is a class 47 however it isn't in it's long range class 47/8 form and they would have to make some air conditioned mark 2 stock which I can't imagine them going to that much trouble when they wouldn't feature that much. Ditto the Voyager which I don't think would actually come under the time period suggested, thinking about it.
Plus the night riviera stock, and parcels/mail stock. Possibly including class 57's and 67's as well as 47's in the early privatisation era. Wasn't the Western region IC HST a slightly different version to the XC version? I suspect a 47 will appear in game, since we already have it. So my guess would be: HST Class 150 Class 47 with probably one of: Mk2's, Mk1 parcel stock or sleeper stock. I'd be content with that, but would have preferred a 57. But there's always scope for add ons in the future, and they are even more likely when they can be used on GWE too.
Don't know if the XC and GWR HSTs had the same internals and we know DTG like to build them from scratch if they're different. I don't hold by speculation. Personally I would have preferred this route not have been announced AT ALL until the situation was clarified with regards to the consists on the route. I know people want there to be funky hype stuff constantly, but this turns to a form of conjectural torture over time. Maybe something for DJ and Nat to be aware of going forward. Unless you know what the route and content actuall yis, keep it within the team
Personally, I can't see them making stock which wouldn't be seen that often and where other stock could work instead. I think the number of carriages in the HST formation back then were different, I didn't think there were any differences to the actual style of interiors then, although I might be incorrect. Obviously post privatisation the interiors would be different as well as the liveries so that would be an extra hurdle. Not sure including the cross country services would add a huge amount to the route to make it worthwhile from their point of view. I certainly couldn't imagine them making the sleeper stock specifically. Still who knows.
If think post privatisation the Virgin CC HST's had their own livery for the interiors so yes they would ideally be modelled differently. I do think Rivit have come under some unnecessary flack to be honest. I do agree they should have waited a bit longer till the details were finalised. Maybe they were too eager.
Depends on the period, but Virgin XC had the same interior as FGW (which I believe was standard to all HSTs under BR anyway), just in different colours. The current XC HSTs introduced in 2008 have a very similar interior to GNER's "Mallard" spec, the only difference is less tables and different colours, by which time FGW had started to do its own HSTs into the way they are in GWE (but obvs in different colours). I would like to see them included but I can't see them modelling a complete new rake of carriages and maybe (if in more recent times) a new class 57 for a service you see once or twice a day. It might be the sort of thing which would maybe be better as a separate DLC, although I can imagine that would then cause much grumbling as it wouldn't be seen to offer value for money!
I'm not. I'm saying these look similar: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tomsimmons-toffie702/8491071466/ https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/80/C2_GNER_HST_Mark_III_TS_2006_Interior.JPG
I know my eyes are getting on a bit at 45 years, but I can see loads of differences from PIS, overhead storage and signage to the end door shape being different The GNER doesn't even have the electronic reservation displays... Just about the only things the same are the lighting panels in the ceiling and the shape of the seats *** EDIT *** and the windows are the same
I see your point but the 57's have also worked daytime summer loco services under GWR and more often under FGW, Another likely inclusion at some point is an 08 I think, as there's long been one at Long Rock and they have traditionally shunted the sleeper and parcels stock at Penzance. Whatever gets included, someone will grumble...
Found a pic from a lower angle. The overhead storage is the same, just a bit more rounded than GNER's. I said similar. Not the same - obviously it's been tailored slightly to better suit CrossCountry.
Maybe I need to squint... I'm sure if DTG put both out with just different seat colours... They'd get lynched
There’s a possibility that the delay in announcing the included trains is because of ongoing licensing negotiations. Maybe Rivet have already decided that the 150/2 will be included, but they don’t yet know what exact year the route will be set in and hence don’t know the livery since the the licensing agreements haven’t been made yet. They could just say a 150/2 and HST (just an example) will be included and not say what liveries or TOC they’ll be in, but the norm for the roadmap so far has been to include those things.
