Was quite disappointed (personally) to find out that Rivet weren't ready to announce the stock in this weeks roadmap. Just hope that the holdback is all in good spirit and for a good reason (maybe finalising licences etc?). Hopefully we ain't disappointed when they reveal the stock
The way I feel about TSW2 now if it's not a Class 50 then then I probably won't indulge. Have virtually everything up to Clinchfield but I am bored now with the repetition on each DLC.
Personally for me the DTG side of routes is *improving* with the lights of GCC. For me it's Rivet that are driving the reputation down for the game with the routes they have come out with and the repetition that they *wont* be to a 'high' standard. I just hope this Penzance Route can get my energy back for Rivet.
i hope Rivet leaned about the feedback they've had with IoW and Arosa but doubt that, there are still a lot of bugs on IoW and Arosa and they still aren't fixed... I think it would be an really fun route, we'll see what Rivet makes of it
Working for GWR in the west, i want this route to be great, given its part of my local network. They just need to deliver that good standard that we all expect. They do wonderful with the stock as seen from their previous releases, but lack on other major bits! Hopefully they have got the support from DTG and other parties, so issues that have been brought up in the past will be acted on, so mistakes & issues are not made again. Fingers crossed they do good all over in this release! Please..
They make rolling stock really good, sometimes here and there bugs but those can (normally) be fixed (it is was DTG). I doubt that other parties or DTG will help them bcs DTG is busy now with Rush Hour... I hope they learned their lesson and take their time to make and test it really good!
Very true, RH may not enable the support. Hopefully the feedback on previous releases get taken seriously. Couldn't care how long it takes, as long as it visually doesn't end up like a British Arrosa lol!
Just thought - maybe they'll be holding off until after Rush Hour, assuming they don't have the 4.26 update themselves.
Yes its more mileage, yes its more complex operation for the internal despatcher, but the Falmouth line in that period is only one train shuttling back and forth. The same variety as the St Ives line...so again they would only need to ensure the number was different! If they are making the effort to do Truro station, they might as well make the delightful Falmouth line...but hey ho... D
It would make a nice little network. If you didn't want to drive you could have a nice ride from Falmouth to St. Ives changing trains on the way.
I think it is very unlikely a class 50 will be included as 1991 seems to be the earliest year it could be set and they would have been very rare in Cornwall by then. If a Sprinter is included at least that will be something new and if the HST (making assumptions here) has the Valenta sound set then that will be different. Although personally driving the HST from Truro to Penzance doesn't excite me, I would probably spend much more time driving the Sprinter.
Its the fact that the St Ives line, whilst really pretty is extremely short! The first train of the day will be fun, Long Rock, to Penzance, to St Erth to St Ives. A nice scenario/journey. Repeating it in reverse a night. One way is literally 12 and half minutes, 15 max if stopping at both Lelant stations. If making a 15x/x train giving us another branch to drive it would be good. Yes I know they did mainline duties as well, but you get my drift! D
Agreed. Doubt a 50 will make a appearance, yet alone they dont really excite me sadly, just like the HST. Sprinter however would be brilliant and personally hope that we see a decent representation of one of the class. Would of liked to of seen the Falmouth branch incorporated, given the route goes up as far as Truro, but St Ives will suffice and should enable a nice shuttle operation. Although i feel the replay ability may be lost quickly based on how good the timetable is.
Yes, agreed. It comes down to variety and replay-ability. No matter how scenic the route if the operations are not that interesting it could get stale. I find the same with ECW, looks lovely but quite frankly it is boring keep driving the same sort of services.
Its all a balancing act between the visuals & the timetable, which really decides whether you play it for long or not. Rivets previous releases dont really accommodate both sadly! Maybe it'll change with this & the feedback?
If done properly then yes. As you'd have a series of moves: Down sleeper to Penzance. Loco attaches to the rear. Set moves to Long Rock Some shunting could then occur Set moves to Penzance for evening sleeper. Loco on front detaches. Up sleeper to Truro Light loco move to Long Rock Although with Rivets previously inspirational Arosa timetable, I'd say this is sadly unlikely to ever happen...
This is actually a problem of doing the route in the 1990's there is one train an hour each way on the main line. So the time table is going to be very sparse! D
Totally, although the complete fatal blow was Arosa by a mile. I don’t wanna have low standards, but we know how history can repeat itself!
What will be the *most* interesting thing- from a nerdy point of view for this whole line is actually going to be what do they do with water in Hayle harbour. Are they going to have the tide in or out for the whole 24 hours. We know that water in this train simulator is *interesting/awful* in its appearance. The 95% of the St Ives line could have water beside it if the tide is in. However if the tide is out its 50%. But there is still a vast amount of water! I am not sure that they have the skills or the will to model the tide moving twice in their 24 hour timetable. But when you ride on the line, there is a very different feel if the tide is in compared to out. Yes I know most peeps are worried about trains...but hey there are other concerns. I do hope they model the odd golfer or two on the golf course on the land side of the track, again it will be interesting to see if they are out at night I genuinely ponder if this is why the news is being so slow on it. Yes on a map its small circuit pz, st Ives, Tru, but in reality its quite complex. Also St Michaels Mount, will that be "in the mist" as such or actually modelled...all very interesting D
Definitely the sea on the branch will be a concern, given how IoW turned out, looking like a chest board. Hopefully they model the beach with the tide out so you have *less* sea to sea... (I’ll leave)
A flat chest board! The sea was pretty poor but a huge improvement on say, Riviera Line or Cornish Mainline in TS both of which I enjoy driving but the sea is awful. I am hoping they can build on this to give us a realistic looking coastline. Time will tell. Interesting point about the tide.
For those worried about the scenery on this route (including me) based on Rivet's previous record particularly with Arosalinie, I have just seen on the Rivet Forum that they designed the scenery and stations on Cathcart Circle so there is hope yet.
The near scenery and stations in Arosa were never the problem. It was the distant scenery (something Cathcart doesn't really have).
Ah well. I try (not always successfully) to be a glass half full person. I rarely judge a person that I haven’t met - I made an exception for Trump - and I won’t judge a DLC until I have seen it demonstrated. I was impressed with the scenery in Cathcart, even if it wasn’t distant and I’ll take that positivity for now. My main concern for West Cornwall is the sea but I’m hopeful they will learn from past experience (theirs and others’) and do a good job. I’m prepared to be disappointed but I remain hopeful that won’t be the case. Come back to me on release day and I’ll join the many others in giving my opinion (assuming the preview/release day streams give me reason to buy it), glowing or scathing as appropriate.
Just adding a bit of "spam" to this thread. Taken on Saturday. 150 working the Falmouth line, coming in and out of Truro, along with a 43 "Castle Class" heading to Penzance from Exeter.
Let’s be honest no one will be happy regardless and people will lose their internals if it’s a 101 and a reskin of another
I don't know what trains we'll have, but I can tell you right now there will be bugs. Hopefully not as gamebreaking as with Arosa...
I think this roadmap and the next few are just for rush hour so I assume it won't be announced on there, but I may be wrong.
Bearing in mind that DTG expected to let us know before the previous roadmap, I suggest that we wait until July 19th, when Covid restrictions are (hopefully) lifted an then send Sam on an unexpected visit to Stirling and refuse to leave until he gets the information.
I believe we will find much sooner than that, no one has ever waited until day of release to tell us what stock it will come with.
