Rules: - Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to a theme. Otherwise anything goes. - You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. - Entries to be submitted by 9pm Friday (GMT). - Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). - The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). Due to being a little late setting up this week's comp. submissions will be accepted up until Friday 2nd July 21:00 BST and will be judged by me (Craigie-C) This weeks theme will be:-THE SUN, e.g. Sunset / Sunrise / Sunlight Reflections etc. Interpret as you wish. Good Luck to All.
I know I can't officially enter this week or vote for myself but just have to share this with you all. Just released by community member dunkrez, this is just an amazing piece of kit and can't recommend it enough. https://alanthomsonsim.com/product/gold-star-trains-dr73106-ballast-tamper/ To keep with the theme I have included the Sun (top right)
BR Rebuilt Merchant Navy No. 35004 on the Bournemouth Belle, racing through Brockenhurst on the Southampton-Weymouth Line
A Union Pacific Grain train with an SD70M on point runs across the Red River on an early morning run.
I love the lighting and shadows in this game sometimes, and I had to resize it due to being too large at 1080p.
Nice looking entries so far. I'll have to see what's in my collection of screenshots or make some new ones this week.
That’s the thing. People say that TSW is a better game because of the graphics and the functionality of the advanced locomotives. Substitute, for example, the Searchlight Simulations AC4400 into that picture, and you have got yourself a perfect match. That, combined with the immense variety of TS1, is, in my opinion, why it is an infinitely preferable game.
I'm not even sure where people get the "advanced functionality" from anyways really, as some of the locos are quite comparable to most modern DLCs in functionality.
As the sun sets over the Threave Viaducts Loco:- Rebuilt Royal Scot Route:- Western Lines of Scotland - The Port Road
Rebuilt Royal Scot on the Threave Viaducts V2 Loco:- Rebuilt Royal Scot Route:- Western Lines of Scotland - The Port Road
Originally an intended entry for the official competition (if anybody feels it is good enough then I'll ditch one of my other entries for this one).
(CW) Caledonian Railway 439-class (a fave of mine) traveling the Great North of Scotland Railway (SteamWorkshop Route) in hazy early morning sunlight:
Decided for a late evening ride, but missed the mark badly. In return, got treated with a beautiful sunset sky. Class 33/1 (original) on Bristol Exeter, just a little after Bristol.
A Shoreliner III cabcar departs Poughkeepsie on a wet spring morning, embarking on its long journey towards Grand Central. (Another to be resized to 900p lol).
My final entry, which isn't as deliberate as the others, but I really liked how the lighting played with the reflections on the boiler. *Cries in no BMG Black 5.*
Well it's past the witching hour and decisions have to be made. Massive congratulations to all that entered, the standard is getting better by the week. Here we go, in 3rd place Nick Y for a fantastic evening sky shot. In 2nd Place:- cscarpenter for this amazing image of a Royal Scot on the Threave Viaduct. And in 1st Place with the honour of hosting next weeks contest. Garbage with this beautiful shot of the sun reflecting on the water with the train driving into it, all round just works for me. Congratulations Garbage, I hand over to your good self to take us forward.
OOOOHH! Sorry forgot to give a special mention and special award for non-train shot:- Masiré for this cracking beach shot of "THE DOGGO", as picked out by my Vet Nurse Daughter who is home from university. LOL
Well done Garbage. A great photo. Being honest I though NEC-Railfan was going to win. I'll take 3rd place twice in a row as a bonus considering I'm not using any weather packs or other enhancements (yet).
Certainly is in this one, that was the main catalyst for starting this thread. Third party Locos, third party routes, re-skins, enhancement packs are all welcome if you chose to use them although they are not mandatory. The Official DTG Screenshot comp only allows currently for sale Steam items with no enhancements or 3rd party content.
Just wondering if we have a theme and thread for next week? We are already half way in to the week and no response from last weeks winner (again). If needs be I am happy to take this comp thread forward if it means it continues to prosper. It is starting to be well supported and I personally would hate to see it collapse. Food for thought, how about starting a poll for themes as in the official screenshot comp. We could then have anyone start a new thread for each week without waiting for last weeks winner to respond and come up with a theme. Look forward to your responses. Cheers
A poll could be a good idea although I suspect choosing a theme still acts as the 'prize' for the weekly winner unless people feel being the judge alone is sufficient enough prize. I suspect a poll would solve the problem of winners not being able to set up competitions straight away. I'm happy for you to start a new thread and act as a judge.
I am with you on keeping this thread alive. I agree with UP13 that choosing the theme is possibly the major 'Prize' but we could also include a backup option of a poll as an incentive for those that enter, to monitor the thread, and respond if chosen as a winner with their own theme. If no response by e.g. Sunday night we can start a new thread on the Monday with the Poll winning theme. I agree totally and as UP13 has already stated I too would be more than happy for you to take us forward. We could maybe put up a Freestyle theme for next week and invite options for Poll choices? Onwards + Upwards
Seeing as it is a week on and still no sign of any response from Garbage, I have decided to set up a new thread for Week 16 with a Freestyle Theme https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/unofficial-3rd-party-screenshot-comp-week-16.42273/ I will also add a poll with a selection of themes we can use if next weeks winner also decides to leave the planet, or maybe just this thread LOL. Please feel free to add any additional ideas for taking this comp forward or any themes you may wish to see included in the poll. Cheers.
