"Release date: April 2021"... not a good sign when they can't keep their steam store page up to date... But I wishlisted it, lets wait until it releases a few months ago and the reviews will be coming in.
wow this game is impressive. The scenery around the urban area with tall buildings looks stunning. The graphics overall are very detailed and the night run at the end also is close to photo realistic. Really amazing what they achieved with that game.
My lord, the night section of the gameplay demo from 6:07 onwards looks absolutely pristine. The feeling of direct and ambient lighting is absolutely perfect, and has the kind of atmosphere that I would have liked for Cathcart Circle to capture. I have already followed Hmmsim on mobile but this PC offering looks quite interesting, though unfortunately it will likely never expand beyond South Korean metros. Cheers
Agree the game looks really stunning. The sounds are not bad either, you can hear the rumble of the train / traction motors/joint sounds. To bad its only a metro line, can you imagine if they did a high speed Japan/China route with this kind of details? it would be madness. I think DTG can take a few pointers from this, especially the overall lighting (including night) and how to create a rich urban area with detailed and HD textured buildings.
The sounds on that preview are driving me mad... Pretty sure if anyone spent eight hours with that lot in their ear they'd need counselling
I guess you mean the constant voices that can be heard. Well most of them are because of ATC and as the driver keeps going over the speed limit, hence the audio warnings .
I assume dtg have a lighting team so I don't get why dtg haven't gave them the green light to fix night time lighting. I wonder what are the lighting team's priorities?
Yup auto HDR on PS5 helps a lot. Literally you are 1 second in pitch black then boom a light comes on and you can actually see. That's a massive plus with current next gen for TSW2. Dark driving visability is improved drastically.
That game looks awesome as said especially at night. If they were to do the 'Tube' then take my money now, talented guys, wish them all the best. DTG said in a stream a while back that they would welcome competition, they have it now with this Hmmsim Metro and Sim Rail, now we will wait to see what DTG will do about it. If these two games ever branched into UK, Euro, US routes I think TSW2 might have problems.
To be fair I think at this point only DTG have a real "grip" on these places if you ask me. Most other games that have tried to branch into these countries' railways have been shot down before they could compare to TSW - Especially the UK. However, don't get me wrong here, there is some solid competition, and Hmmmmmmmmmmmsim & Simrail both look promising. But I think TSW is certainly ahead as of now.
I think DTG are ahead as of the player base especially the UK for example and they have their work cut out if they did want to muscle in I agree but if they can offer the quality as in these demo's they can surely make an impact no?
I think they can make an impact, if they bring the quality it will end up in a figurative train race, with either company trying to outmatch each other. However generally Dovetail have a massive hold over the UK. The United States I'm not sure about and generally I'd think so with Germany. Plus there seems to be quite a lot of 3rd party co-operation these days - Just Trains & AP on TS, and Rivet, Skyhook, TSG etc. on TSW. (I also heard Union Workshop - who made a lot if not all of the Asian stuff) are learning how to use Unreal. So generally the ball is in Dovetail's court and they have a massive time to think about where they send that ball to.
Why does Microsoft no longer make analog trains? Before stepping into the simulated train social circle, I heard that Microsoft has simulated airplanes and simulated trains, but now Microsoft's simulated trains have become history.
There was some development of Microsoft Train Simulator 2, 1st in 2003, by Kuju Entertainment, but then handed over to Microsoft. before being canceled in 2004. It was resurrected again in 2007, with 4 planned routes, 2 in the US 1 Swiss, and 1 German route, but Microsoft Shut down Aces Game studio, in 2009. which ended that games development. Which is odd as there is footage of it on Youtube.... Now Kuju Entertainment still developed their own train sim after giving MSTS 2 to Microsoft, this later became Rail Simulator and was published by Electronic Arts. This was succeeded by Railworks, which later became Train Simulator series over on the other side of the forums.
I always found it extremely odd that they never bothered to finish and release it. As it was supposedly in the final stages of development, which meant it largely was just in need of bug testing from what I understand.
It could of been the 2008 Recession that caused it, thinking on it now, maybe Microsoft didn't think a train simulator would sell much at the time, or was forced to cut the studio due to the recession.....
That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't quite sure. I do think (this is more aimed at the other posts) Microsoft held on to flight instead of trains because it was a really open sector, as we see today with the new(ish) MSFS they are very much in charge - like Dovetail with the UK, US & German railways.
The only potential massive issue for me in that HMMSIM is the language barrier if they are going to cater for English users maybe? Can't read or speak Korean. Besides why has this Korean sim hijacked this thread, should have its own like the already much discussed in other forums already; the dead MSTS2.
Hi, Was just about to post the same message. Maybe we should start another thread for further discussions regarding this new sim. Looking forward to some reviews. Mike.
There's only one post in English on the game's steam page saying there's no localisation for foreign countries, so it's very hard to understand what you are meant to be doing... Unless you can read Korean.
Heres an english guide on how to drive Hmmsim https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2526835899
It's out now and there is a DTG Protagonist Sam gameplay available Hmmsim on his personal Channel Colonel Failure. Hmmsim release date was June 25 2021 If Simrail made in Poland does come to the computer expect Sam to do a game play on it on his personal Channel. Which I linked above.
It is actually Sam because he was able to reply to my post about Colonel Failure DTG Protagonist. The same voice inflection is also heard on a DTG Live stream when Sam is on
No, actually it is his twin. They actually hate each other in real life which is why Sam gets all defensive if you mention CF in a DTG stream, lol. I hope they do release some English instructions for that game as it looks good.
It's perfectly playable without knowing Korean, and there are already guides popping up on Steam. I've been really enjoying it while I've played through all of the services. As you progress you get treated to various nice touches, such as a visit to Seoul overground, where previously you'd only served the underground platforms, and just running the various different lines. Different times of day are nicely presented, and there's lots of other traffic, with 5 different types of rolling stock. 3 on the mainline and the 2 types of driveable metro trains. Sunny and overcast days, although no rain. The devs have already published a list of improvements that will be coming soon, so it's all looking very promising.
