It's seems like this route either works sometimes or doesn't and before buying this flip flop route, what it's current status? Working? Not Working? Semi Working? I Can't bare telling you the truth,it's to heartbreaking. I know this routes recent upgrade was abit of a mess,so wheres it stand currently?
It’s still a mess. The pres. crew update didn’t do what was expected. Still terrible sounds, inaccurate pis, monotonous scenery and a terrible timetable.
So it's not ready for primetime again, why am i not surprised Even if this route was perfect it still barely worth 30.00,and in it's current state it's be overpriced if it was free. Why is it everytime dtg fixes something they brake something that wasn't broken....job security maybe?
Whether or not the route is working is purely a subjective opinion, and I suspect you're probably going to get some varied answers on this. However as someone who's been on this route irl and knows a bit about it, I think the add-on in its current state is alright. Not terrible, but not perfect either, and still has a few flaws here and there. The biggest improvements by far were the skybox and track rendering. Back in the TSW2020 version, sunsets were often dominated with a gray haze in the horizon that looked terrible, but now has been replaced with the TSW2 skybox which gets rid of this effect and basically makes driving at dawn or dusk a lot more viable. As for the biggest drawback? Right now, that would be the sounds. Aside the fact that the M7 vaguely sounds like it's real life counterpart, it sounds worse when compared to the TSW2020 version. Most notably, only the first couple of cars produce motor sounds, while the rest of the consist does not. The situation with the PIS is...well its been hilariously overblown. Seriously, it looks similar to ONE of the versions of the PIS system that the LIRR has irl, but it's not 100% accurate. Honestly it's not a big deal, as I would rather have a PIS system than none at all. Its quite useful to have one regardless. Still with all that said, I have been playing the LIRR Route a lot more than I expected in these last few weeks, and I've been enjoying my time on there. I appreciate the reworked pathing that the trains take, (i.e. taking the express tracks between NY Penn and Jamaica), as it's a lot more prototypical to what you'll see in real life. It's also worth noting that Adam has stated that the Preservation Crew would like to revisit the LIRR again at some point in the future, and give it another pass of improvements. Whether or not this will happen, we'll have to wait and see.
So in other words they did a whole upgrade to the route somethings got better somethings got worse(and broken)and adam said someday they would like to revisit the route and see if they can fix what now wrong that wasn't wrong the frist time, got it.
Glad i didn't waste 30.00 on this broken mess but my 30.00 just went to another game by what i think is also a small developer and so far it amazing what they could do with a game under 2gb.(It's a game with a different kind of "horse"power to get the jobs done.)
