The red mark in the speedometer in the right hand corner of the screen doesnt change immediately when the new speed limit is above the current one, but when the new speed limit is bellow it changes instantly. This lead to arriving late sometimes and getting less points.

This is how it is supposed to work and it is how it works in game. When you are approaching speed change that is higher than you currently going. That new increased limit does not take effect until the end of the train has passed that marker. In the case where the upcoming speed is lower than you currently going, you must slow your train down to that speed before the new speed takes effect.
