    Throughout that page the typo has been repeated numerous times, but it's Riesa, not Reisa.

    Edit: Also, I hope the timetables are not done the same way as on CRR, where all locos need to run significantly faster than the speed limit to arrive in time ...

    Two images that stand out from this article:

    Firstly, if you look closely, you will see a number for 686 services. Judging from the ID numbers seen in this image, I would imaging this is for Brighton Main Line, which would make this the route with the most amount of services of any TSW2 route (Depending on A: How many of these services are AI services and B: How the other two routes services turn out).

    Secondly, I went and had a look at what those services listed there were via Realtime Times and i found out that the 1Mxx services are Brighton-London Victoria services operated by Southern. I couldn't find what the 1Axx services were, but I would assume they are Gatwick Express services of some kind, but the most interesting services I find here are the 2Axx services listed in brackets. From doing a bit of research, i found out that these services are Redhill-Tonbridge services operated by Southern. I would assume that these services are some of the AI traffic that we will find along this route.

    This image really interests me as this is the service pattern for some of the Gatwick Express services that run along this route. From this image, I can tell Stewarts Lane depot that will be featured with this route as there seems to be some services that go there and I was featured in the 'making of' article for this route, but the most interesting services here are services 5M11 and 5D49 because they both go to Hove Yard.

    Now this place wasn't accessible in East Coastway, but it might be in Brighton Main Line, that Hove yard, along with the station there, is accessible for some services to go to. Again, nothing seems to be concrete right now and it could be that these services are just AI and that Hove station will be off limits like in East Coastway, but if it was, it would not only provide some extra depot services to the yard there, but also provide a much better place for the Littlehampton bound trains that run along the Brighton Main Line to start/end at as having them start/end at Preston Park would feel very awkward.

    Just something for you to think about...

    I am really looking forward to Rush Hour, especially to the Brighton Mainline, because of its busy and 'special' timetable.

    A couple of observations.

    If BML does not have a real " rush hour ", but is at maximum capacity all day, and Amtrak and MBTA are running their usual timetables, I guess we need to redefine what we mean by " Rush Hour". It sounds like we're finally going to have the look and feel of real railways, constant traffic in and out of busy, noisy terminal stations.

    If the above is the case (I don't mention the German route because it's unfamiliar to me), I have to believe it's going to take some serious horsepower to keep playing at ultra settings as I do now. I hope I have enough gas.

    An interesting detail about the game struggling with midnight flip.

    So all the things need to be back in place at 00:00...

    Considering real-time schedules wouldn't it be easier (even artificially if needed (tell the game to display 9 pm, though it's already 12 am and adjust the timetable to that)) to move this to let's say 3 am? Many routes are still fairly busy during midnight, so having to finish at that time is truly limiting. But IRL little to no trains run usually at about 3-5 am. Making the timetable "restart" at that time would probably help a lot.

    Keep in mind that even a simple AI move from the terminus station into the portal beyond would be considered a "service". You won't have 686 playable services.

    Am I the only one seeing weird characters or not ? What does that means above ?

    My PS4 pro is making a loud noise while playing I really hope with added layers it won’t be worse for us last gen console

    Can I just drop a reality check on the service count aspect of that screenshot.

    686 services includes all AI services into and out of portals and other non-playable services such as non-playable branch lines or services used to create filler traffic.
    That timetable is not yet complete, that number will certainly go up.
    Even 686 isn't anywhere near the largest - I think Munich's equivalent to this number is around 1200.

    Basically, the number of playable services could be anything, there's not even a solid guideline as to how it relates for a route like this. Eg. on a route like HRR that number i'd say you would get 1/3 of them as playable (because a service is a portal into the route, a playable service and a portal out of the route) but London Brighton is a very different route.

    There will not be 686 playable services. The final number may be higher or lower, it is way too early to know that for sure.

    Sorry I just wanted to make sure nobody walked away with incorrect expectations, we aren't ready to determine the final number of services that will be in the route yet.

    TBH, I only want the routes to feel alive and I think you are in a good path to achieve this. I couldn't care less about the total number of player driveable services. I don't think I will be happier with 800 than I would be with 200.

    What I’d like to know is how you managed/managing to add such a large amount of services whilst still maintaining acceptable performance?

    Has there been any significant optimisations and/or improvements with the way services are set up with Rush Hour?

    The number of services doesn't really directly affect performance at all. As I say, Munich has 1200 or so and that one is fine performance wise (the issues are not service volumes but ram and the density of assets in munich).

    I'm not quite sure what you mean here- since CRR is freight-only, there isn't really an "on time", is there?

    Anyway, quite excited for Rush Hour- fingers crossed that it will be able to take full advantage of PS5/Series X capabilities regarding layers, etc.

    There is a big chance the layers are coming back, because there will be a seperate version of TSW2 (I think) for the next-gen consoles.

    Did Matt say that they would add 377/1 units by renumbering the 377/4 in one of the streams. If yes, and there is Tonbridge to Redhill as just AI. Will they put a 4 carriage train on or remove one coach to make a 3 carriage train as per real life. IMO they are both prefectly acceptable as it would make more sense to make 3 car variant, if they made Tonbridge to Redhill.

    Service 1032-AI-HST-PortalIN
    Now, I understand this is an AI portal service, but what intrigues me is the HST part, since I don't think that neither the 377 or 387 qualify as HST, so will we also see HSTs on that route?

    Yea, that's right, it's freight only. But these trains are also supposed to arrive at certain destinations within a given time. I'm not saying that the driver has to accomplish this task, but this data is used to calculate the positions of the AI trains on the track, and these calculations are done incorrectly. The only solution to avoid deadlocks would be to drive at a speed similar to this, e.g. with an average speed of 52+ kph. (But I don't think this would be possible even if you're willing to sacrifice APs for miles driven.)

    So how will BRD perform compared to HMA? Dresden area is pretty complex as well and the amount of unique vehicles doesn't seem to be much lower than on HMA.

    I see what you're saying now. I haven't run into it personally, but i still have quite a few services that i haven't done yet. I have the AP turned off in any case, so maybe ignorance is bliss lol.

    I hope so. I can remember watching them do the coupling/uncoupling there back in the early 90's. If they were lucky they could uncouple on the platform side, but very often they would have to jump down to track level and do it on the opposite side.

    JD said today in the stream that next monday July 5th he is going to do a stream with the devs in charge of creating the timetables.

    Just letting everyone know since the Railfan TV schedule is usually posted late on mondays and some people might not get to read it in time.
