CSX has painted one of their F40PH's into B&O colors, the rest of the fleet is expected to be painted the same.

Extremely tragic another senseless act of violence that we did not need to happen.

This should make a few excited. Listen to the comments about porting UE4 games at the end of the vid.

Images captured by me earlier in life.

Haadyai Station / Yard, Thailand, 1973. I was on Temporary Duty there during a military stay in the Philippines. Lots of steam locos, wood-burning to boot! As I recall, the few passenger trains I saw were all powered by diesels:

Freight train passes through Ushihama Station, Fussa, Tokyo Japan, circa 1989, captured during a two-year military stay in Japan, 1988-1990. This was my 'local' station. There were two or three more within easy walking distance:

More Railway-related images by me captured by me during my stay in Japan.

(This one was captured aboard a train, traveling to some long-forgotten destination.)

If the incident had involved a train then I would agree but it happened to take place on railway property.

Somebody got knifed on a tram route near when I live
Maybe I should post stuff like that as you seem to think it is related which it is not

Just a couple of photos from a recent photography session at Shoreham-By-Sea level crossing. It’s on quite a major road, yet there are so many trains the gates are down more often than they are up! At one point, 3 trains came through in about 10 - 15 minutes and the gates stayed down the entire time. Of course, this does lead to your usual types of people... I did see one BMW rush across as the gates started to go down once...

You’ve gotta love some good PEPs :)
    upload_2021-6-3_16-16-47.jpeg

Didn’t manage to get the best one of the BR Blue-repaint PEP, was just coming out of the fish and chip shop down the road!
    upload_2021-6-3_16-17-55.jpeg

Of course, there were a lot more electrostars than PEPs

I had just cycled along the Downs Link from Guildford - a wonderful disused railway cycle/walking route. It runs along the Guildford - Horsham via Cranleigh route as far as Christ’s Hospital and then crosses under the existing railway and joins the line to Shoreham-By-Sea. Both lines would have run into Horsham, in its heyday Christ’s Hospital had seven platforms to accommodate these routes as well as the main line. There is a lot of wonderful restored railway architecture en route, north of Horsham, the platforms and level crossing of Bramley and Wonersh have been restored. Baynards station looks wonderful, but unfortunately it is a private residence so the most you can do is look in. At Christ’s Hospital, the Cranleigh line platforms are still there with a station nameboard, but that’s about it (as well as the still operational mainline station). South of there, West Grinstead station’s platforms still exist, although overgrown, and there is an SR Mark 1 coach and semaphore signal. That’s about it, but there are still some other railway reminders en route - such as a street called “Beechings” in Henfield (this sort of thing is common at closed stations) and a set of railway buffers as you cross the South Downs.

So with Tehachapi on the horizon, decided to head out there today to get some more pics of the area.

-1st caught a BNSF train about to branch off the UP mainline at Kern Junction, with Warbonnet 707 on point (2nd was a KCS unit)

-A very short BNSF Z-train near Ilmon, east of Bena.

-It later stopped at Sand Cut, for what I assumed was a crew change.

-Union Pacific Manifest near Tunnel 2.

    -Stopped BNSF train at Cliff
    [IMG]

-Same UP train from earlier at Bealville
    [IMG]

-DPU's leaving Bealville as the head end exits tunnel 5
    [IMG]

    -Same UP Manifest at Woodford
    [IMG]

-UP eastbound manifest at Sand Cut

That is so true, but cannot discount the cute factor. We have had news stories with videos of bears standing up like humans and breaking into car doors, that would put car thieves to shame.

Not many car thieves (human) weigh upwards of 300 pounds :) who can still run away from the cops if they show up

Since both Amtrak and Coaster have been beefing up their schedules to near pre-pandemic levels over the last few weeks, I decided to spend yesterday afternoon trackside in Oceanside, CA. I managed to get quite a few catches, as well as an odd Metrolink ferry move that saw a consist parked on the Northbound track for nearly an hour (it was still there when I left). I also decided to throw in some catches I got back in April that were too short for their own video.

Went to the Danbury Railway Museum today, had a great time, including capturing over 50 reference shots for the ACMU, which will be in a drive if anyone wants to use them as modeling resources at some point.

Next time I hope to see if I can have access to the ACMU in order to grab more reference pictures of the interior.

Just a couple of very quick Class 323 pictures I caught on the move yesterday. The 323s are largely known for their amazing accelerating sounds, but one interesting thing I’ve discovered: has anyone noticed that when they are idling, 323s sound like the chilled aisle of an M&S? (Marks and Spencer’s, a local British supermarket, for all you non-Brits out there). That’s what it sounds like to me at least.

I just got back from a week long trip to Colorado and New Mexico to chase trains on the Cumbres & Toltec and Durango & Silverton narrow gauge railroads. It was a lot of fun! I mostly took video, but here's some of the few pics I got!

Well, after a few days of editing, my 2 videos covering the Durango & Silverton and Cumbres & Toltec are up on Youtube now!
Might wanna get comfy if you plan on watching them in full (especially for the Cumbres & Toltec video) because they're a couple of long ones!

*Moved under its own power for the 1st time in 68 years. I'll say again for posterity's sake and in case someone doesn't ever look at the TSW forums, NMSL&RHS have done fire ups of the engine at prior points, but have never had the engine in a state where it can move on its own until now.

I think someone must have decided to make a real life version of this weeks screenshot contest here as a pair of class 47s built in the 60's stopped outside where I work moving a class 720 EMU to the test track :)

I didn't use a DSLR, and I wasn't on the railyard local, instead I was walking around with an iPhone 6s, spamming pictures of various underbody detail for the ACMU.

I was lucky enough to see that precise consist at Derby station yesterday - it had a 56 on the other end and then departed, heading south along the MML to deliver the 720.

Believe it or not that was actually the following day as I saw that one as well. When I took the photos the locomotive at the other end was 47749 'City of Truro'. The consist with the class 56 at the front (56081) didn't stop where I was and the light was bad when it went past so I couldn't get a very good photo, I've included the one I did get though :)

Well, I don't travel by train much since the pandemic started. Bust last weekend I made an unplanned voyage as my regular mode of transport was unavailable.

While on the platform waiting for the PESA ELF EN76, I spotted a good old ET22 pulling some Eaos wagons for PKP cargo. (Yes I'm in Poland):

It's been a minute since anyone's posted here, so I thought I'd share a few pics/video stills from my time spent in Del Mar yesterday. Unfortunately some stuff came up and I missed the afternoon rush, so I didn't get enough footage to make a full Youtube video out of it, but I'm hoping to get back out there one more time before my community college classes resume.

I would not have thought such a beefy locomotive would have had any trouble pulling 4 coaches, even up a grade, unless it had a mechanical issue. Has the rest of the train been uncoupled? Just curious

I praised that badly, it had a mechanical failure and stopped there to wait. And no, as far as I'm aware, that was the whole train to begin with, although Soda Springs is the first place I saw it.
