Interesting article, hopefully will live up to expectations. Excited for all three routes.

As others have said, some interesting things to look at, namely the possibility of depot runs to Hove. If so, begs the question if there would be a chance of having driveable West Coastway services, albeit just between Brighton and Hove (eventually using the 313) - similar to those mini S-Bahn examples at Wuppertal on RRO - especially if Hove is a potential end/start point for Littlehampton services.

I'm also pleasantly surprised to hear coupling/uncoupling will be included as per reality - was worried the amount of services would make such an option too complex to get it working properly. This is pure speculation, but talking of coupling/uncoupling, I'd be so ecstatic if we could drive Bognor, Portsmouth and Southampton services as far as Horsham (around 8 or so miles down the line after diverging off the BML from Three Bridges as Horsham is a key coupling/uncoupling location for 377s to/from Victoria. Not getting my hopes up, but who knows.

I believe he did say that we'll get 377/1s. I highly doubt they would go to the trouble of making a 377/4 into a 377/3 even if we got the branch off to Tonbridge to drive considering we are only getting 377/1s by simply just renumbering 377/4s.

Interesting article and based on this the Haywards Heath separating services are London Victoria to Bognor Regis & Littlehampton WCW and ECW Eastbourne Services. DTG needs to build a Class 377/4 rather than renumbered class 377/1s. Easy way to do this might be visiting Brighton Depot or WCW Bognor Regis.

Other way round. We’ve already got 377/4s. It’s the 377/1s which will just be a renumbered 377/4.

Thank you for telling me about this and in real life is there a difference between a 377/1 & 377/4. 377/2 377/5 & 377/6 have 25kv 50hz 750v DC Third rail Top Contact equipment installed basically turning those into the British equivalent of a Metro-North United States New York State M8

Very interesting how services are made, however I would love to see more dynamic services that really adjust to what the player does. I know currently we have some services on various routes that do this. It would be great to see more of that.

This article was very interesting, again I am looking forward to the release of TSW 2: Rush Hour in the near future. Especially the CORE update to the game.

I believe they are both very similar. Perhaps some minor interior differences in regards to the seating arrangements.

As far as I can tell, the only difference between the /1s and /4s is that the latter have partitioned off and slightly spiffier First Class sections.

The headlights on the /1s on some units are from the first generation with 3 different lights I don’t know yet if they’ve been retrofitted with a similar model from the other series ( /4s etc )

Will routes released after rush hour, like West Cornwall Local, have an upgraded passenger system?

One assumes so. In general, once DTG implements a feature upgrade it's incorporated in all subsequent routes.

I dont think Rush hour means less DLCs as DTG tends to release more DLCs now and with 3rd parties being involved you get what I mean

In general does not include the animated grade crossings and improved water textures first introduced in SEHS. To be fair, CRR did not have grade crossings, though I'm surprised an old route like Cathcart doesn't have them. I think it was mentioned on the stream that Cane Creek's crossings are static.

Bigger timetables take longer to develop

That will be for a future Rush Hour wrote not the MBTA. For MBTA dlc locomotive will be HSP46.

The question was about updated passengers not bigger timetables.

Cathcart just doesn’t have level crossings... and it should be remembered that level crossings have been implemented where they belong on DTG routes, in HHL and RT right now. As for Cane Creek, it’s not a DTG route and should not be taken as indicative of DTG quality.

Sand Patch (did work in TSW 2020, I think), Penn Corr, to name just two where they should be working, but don't.

They didn't work in SPG in 2020. No route had them before SEHS.
What dcnine#5410 was implicitly saying is that "All TSW routes since SEHS have crossing gates when appropriate"

They did in fact work in the original CSX: HH from TSW2020.

CSX:HH was IIRC a beta release and then part of TSW1. By TSW2020 it had been renamed SPG- and the crossing gates were permanently down.

You can see from the opening seconds of this video that the gates did in fact function in TSW2020.

    And here's a screenshot I just took.
    upload_2021-7-3_19-6-47.png

P.S. The route itself has always been known as "Sandpatch Grade" outside of TSW but it was still called CSX: Heavy Haul even in TSW2020:

You inferred, you mean. Which routes would they be?

That's quibbling. Fact is, it's a feature that did work and now does not. Based on that fact and its absence in Cane Creek as mentioned by MP in the stream, I wouldn't assume it will be implemented in all subsequent routes.

Hamburg-Lubeck. The only DTG (not 3rd party) releases since SEHS have been HBK, Clinchfield (N/A) and Cathcart (N/A).

I was speaking specifically of DTG's own routes.

I see . More passengers and more variety of passengers might take a bit longer to add to a route than older routes used to , but not a significant delay

If people are interested, we streamed a 'How we make our timetables' session with Michael and Matt, which details the process.
Well worth a watch if this kind of thing interests you.

Did anyone else notice that in the maps of Munich, latitude and longitude are transposed? I presume this isn't carried through onto the game model, otherwise left-right would be transposed and the sun would rise in the north!

Why we have no Station Named on the 2D Map like on Train Simulator?
    The TSW Map looks awful

I found the stream very interesting, and a lot of info to take in. Especially when it came to how they create the services in the Excel spreadsheet, and then importing them and testing them.

Looking forward to seeing more of these streams.

Same for me, but I must say that I'm wondering how (or if) DTG personell is actually avoiding typos with that much work copying data manually into Excel sheets ...
There are certain options to link cells and to highlight duplicates, but I didn't see anything like that!?

There are certainly no typos and copy paste errors in any of the timetables, so this is something surely not needed - sarcasm off :D that sounds like a good idea to implement, but I would say it seems more like a thing with the UE editor, that's what we finally see in the game.

From my experience it was always most helpful if other application programs support the export and import of data via csv formatted files, and those can be very easily maintained with Excel. ;)

I found the stream to be really informative, so thanks DTG for putting it on for us. I especially found the Unreal editor fascinating.

I was watching YouTube on my TV, so I couldn't ask a question. If there's a second stream, I'd like to see how the team creates services where different consists join together at a mid-point in the route and continue as a single service (something we'll see a lot of in the Brighton route). Specifically, how they ensure that the two trains arrive in the correct order, and how the coupling process works in the editor.

Yes its something they have stated but when they tried to use the map with the names in TSW it would not work.
They are looking at re designing how the map works but it won't be in TSW 2.

    Regards

This is only an in-editor feature, I think we have looked into adding it into the in-game map, but as far as I'm aware, there's no active development to add it into the game right now.

I feel as though this would be one of the most important things to work on right now. Would it be a good idea to set up some sort of 'user voice' system, where your customers/players can suggest and vote for features? I'm sure many people would upvote an upgraded map.
