Could be any to be honest. The time period of the route, we could get Intercity, Great Western, First, FGW dynamics lines or Regional Railways, Wessex Trains / First Great Western dynamic lines for the 150/2.
High Hope's for this route. Dont let us down Rivet, how about being bold, Plymouth with all the branches... well you can but dream
Plymouth - Gunnislake, Liskeard - Looe, Par - Newquay should all be included (plus the Fowey freight branch and the Bodmin Steam Railway). Expect a release date sometime in 2025
I doubt it'll go to Plymouth simply because of how long a full journey would be. Isn't it nearly two hours from Penzance to Plymouth? That would be a big change from DTG's preference to keep routes at around 20- 40 minutes long.
Maybe with the engine upgrade more is possible. ... Teesvalley ice cream Sunday is over 60mins end to end in 101...
But you are right. I would be shocked if Plymouth, but would pay more for it to be... £29.99 pherhaps?
I think if they extend it, it'll be either to Par or Falmouth (given it's called West Cornwall Locals, most likely the latter). I think you're all geting quite carried away suggesting Plymouth, given Plymouth isn't even in Cornwall, let alone West Cornwall. I'm still thinking it'll be set early 1990s, late BR period, rather than in privatisation.
I do agree the description presents some issues. Also not sure Rivet have an artist capable of doing the Brunel bridge correctly at Saltash. However would love to be proved wrong here
Well given how their trains look, and the stations on Cathcart, they may be able to do it. Anyway, as I said above, that bride is about 70 miles from Penzance, and very much not in West Cornwall. Perhaps, if the extand it to Par, they (or someone else) could do an 'East Cornwall Locals' route, from Par to Plymouth and include the Atlantic Coast, Looe and Tamar Valley lines, then we'd have 2 descently-sized network routes in Cornwall, and then if DTG get to the point where they can merge routes on the user's side (as Matt has described in his 'big picture' lectures), hey presto we have the Cornish Main Line, joined at Par.
Here's hoping. I believe TS has the ability to join up at present... wonder what is holding tsw back?
People in the community have hacked together routes, but with TSW you have more considerations than in TS1 for the simple fact, TSW has a 24hr timetable, which must be compatible across both routes. Merging routes in TS1 is a very messy and file-heavy procedeure. What Matt wants for TSW on the route merging front, is a simpler affair that DTG can fully support, and the client doesn't have to download extra things, just the two constituent routes and the game will detect these routes can be merged, and merge them. What's holding that back? There are way more important things that need working on.
Agreed such as getting Livery designer working for all preserved collection would be a start. I think that's been ongoing now for 11 months... and counting. Interesting observation on ts1.
If it is intercity then they'd pretty much have to make a new HST from scratch and have the valenta powerplant with their sounds. As has been mentioned there will be one new piece of stock and one already from in-game so if it is the HST it would have the wrong cab and engine. I speculate it'll be FGW era.
It would be quite a shock if a HST isn't included, unless they don't plan to include any "express services".
Well it would be a very unrepresentative experience of the route at the time (well any time since the late 1970's) if a HST isn't included.
DTG has tacked on br class 66 frieght and railtour services on a few other routes i wonder if rivets might do it with this route.
Yesss thanks rivet finally a sprinter in TSW hoping for it in GWR/ FGW Purple livery. But either way I'd be happy for any livery at least we get a sprinter.i can see myself pre ordering this route once available
Unless DTG have a new licencing agreement with GWR, it's likely to be in GWR green (but happy to be proved wrong).
Completely irrelevant. As the publisher, Dovetail need the license, regardless of what licenses the 3rd party has (although tbh if a TOC is happy to license to Rivet for a DTG product, they're most likely going to also license to DTG anyway)
We do enjoy reading all the speculations on here. Some are pretty good actually - but I'm afraid you need to wait a little longer before we can share the final details with you. Sorry!
(For any Americans here, that means 'cigarette packet'. That name refers to the FGW Green/Gold Stripe livery, which apparently looks a bit like a cigarette packet: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tutenkhamunsleeping/6539314985/in/photostream/ )
Sorry, my American friends never thought of translating, I know the first word means something completely different to Americans! My bad.
Given the era this route is set in they could do this freight which no longer runs: http://www.railwayherald.co.uk/imagingcentre/view/200588/IS494084011625912199
Ah yes, some more services for the 66 would be nice to have in the game. There isn't a whole lot of 66 services and most of them are pretty short.
The other freight that *may* have been operating was the cement works at Chacewater station was in operation up to at least 1987, maybe longer and fertiliser into Truro Cornwall farmers. You can still see the line into the old CF depot today. Anyway, this is a picture of 3 800's at Longrock from the weekend
Just a bit more "spam" from Truro station. 800 heading down west from Paddington, a 43 heading west from Bristol and the delightful 150/2 coming in from Falmouth.
Wrong! It’s because the trains weren’t on service when the tsw route is set- 2015. So you won’t see 800 dlc for gwe for a while yet
