    HHL Chaos Eastbound

Start in service RB81 11304 Hamburg to Bad Oldesloe at 05:40 with the 112. Don’t leave the Hamburg station. Just sit in the seat until 06:02. At that point, get out of the cab and onto the platform. At 06:04 when you are asked if you want to leave the service, click yes and then enjoy the traffic leaving the station.

At 06:07, an inbound Dosto will show up at the same platform:
    HHL EB Chaos.jpg

Get in the 112 cab at the other end when the train stops. When an AI driver appears in the chair, take over the service which is RE8 11404 Hamburg to Lubeck. Enjoy the run and remember that until the 1000 for 500hz magnet bug is fixed, you need to PZB acknowledge all active 500hz magnets 250 meters from a red signal.

    Chaos Runs spreadsheet update:

Edit: for variations on this, see post #403 below.
Edit 2: The 500hz magnet bug has been fixed and PZB should behave as expected.

Just completed the 07:23 shunting service with the BR204 on MSB. Just happened to be at the right time at the final station to witness another BR204 doing shunting services.

Variations on Hamburg Lubeck eastbound chaos that throw in some freight action:

    1) The passenger run. Start in the RB81 11314 service out of Hamburg at 10:40. Wait until 11:09 and then stand up to walk onto the platform. When you are asked if you want to release the service at 11:11, click yes and then watch it depart. At 11:14, the first inbound Cab Car lead service will arrive at the same platform:
    HHL EB Chaos2.jpg

About two minutes later, the second inbound Cab Car lead service will arrive further up Lubeck end of the platform. This is your drive:

    HHL EB Chaos3.jpg

Walk ahead to the 112 and get in. When the AI driver appears in the seat, take over the service. You should depart at 11:18 or so.

It is interesting that having two departing trains on the same platform does not crash the timetable.

    2) The mostly freight run. Start in the 112 in service RB81 11320 out of Hamburg. Drive to Hamburg-Wandsbek and stop. At around 14:27 a light locomotive will pull by you on the right. Drive up to milepost 57.0 where the light engine is stopped.

    HHL EB Chaos4.jpg

Get out of your seat and walk over to the freight engine. Climb in the cab and take over service 89411. Set it up and get ready for some PZB action.

I'm in the last part of the HHL Journey. RE8 11436 Hamburg Hbf > Lübeck Hbf.
Pitch black, heavy rain, heavy braking actions. So good \o/
HHL probably turned out to be the best timetable from all german DLCs, in my opinion.
The whole Journey is very enjoyable. Good job, DTG \o/
PS Do not forget to turn the HUD off :D
and be prepared for some bugs :D

Have completed the 13:36 Hastings to Brighton service on ECW. Apart from it being almost a full stopping service minus London Road, when you arrive into Brighton (if you manage to keep on time) you'll have a simultaneous double departure that greets you with an AI service to Victoria and another East Coastway example - I thought it was pretty cool and certainly makes it feel busier.

The freight run just in front of this one, 89417 to Lubeck, is also highly recommended. HHL has such an excellent timetable.

While rain at night is a challenge, I really enjoyed running this one under clear skies to check out all the scenery. The Mastery Challenge Ferris wheel is cool and the stations have really nice lighting. And, it's better with no HUD; I am a becoming a believer.

The service before that one is 1P16 Didcot Parkway starting point 07:47 Reading 8:20 London Paddington for that one you need to stop for an inbound Class 166 a cross move from the north side of Reading Station to the Eastbound GWML Fast tracks.

I just did the same run, was only stuck behind the AI on the very long signal-less stretch (4 km without a hauptsignal? must be wrong). I arrived on time at Köln. Weird that it plays out differently on my system than yours.

I just did this run as well, amazing. The PZB juggling caused by following another train closely, the wrong-side running from Langenprozelten to Gemünden, while pulling into Gemünden on the left track I got overtaken on the right track by a double-headed mixed freight train while another freight train was pulling out of the yard, up to the exit signal, waiting for me to clear his track. Just before pulling into Langenprozelten another double headed freight train from Gemünden to Lohr passed me as well. So much action for such a short run!

One question though; the wrong-side entry signal for Gemünden gave me a 30 kmh restriction and it was accompanied not by a 1000hz magnet but a straight jump to 500hz. The same thing (30kmh + immediate 500hz) happens on RRO upon exiting the S-Bahn section on an S8 run. Is this prototypical or an error?

I loved doing the whole "special train" sequence in peninsula corridor, using the mp15 to shunt it together, running it to san jose and then returning empty to the depot (with lots of adverse signals) and then using the mp15 again to split it up again.

It's prototypical. Speed restrictions <40 km/h (10/20/30 km/h) are usually protected by an active 500 Hz magnet.

1A16 07:47 Reading 08:00 Maidenhead 08:20 London Paddington and that service has a conflicting move because of the inbound Class 166.

If you've got two hours spare, I suggest these services below for a varied, continuous play with the same 377/4** on ECW.

21:52 Seaford-Brighton - An all-stop service arriving on Brighton Platform 8. You'll have a 10-15-minute wait before the next service.

22:41 Brighton-Lewes - A limited stop service to Lewes calling at Falmer only. You'll have a 10-minute wait before the next service.

23:15 Lewes-Brighton - An empty stock move back to Brighton which is interesting as you are chasing yellows the whole way as you follow behind an eight-car 377 formation. Arrive into Brighton Platform 7 which has quite a few AI trains at both the station and depot. Wait 10 minutes before the next service.

23:40 Depot Run - You have to wait for a 12-car formation to go to the depot before.

All-in-all, I found this to be a great set of runs using the same train (for example I completed all these with 377/423).

I would go one step further and start with the Brighton-Seaford service, I'd imagine it would start around 21:00

This is actually the same train that runs the 5C09/2C09 services already mentioned in this thread. After running the Newhaven service, the train shuttles back and forth all day between Brighton and Seaford until performing the services mentioned above. So, if anyone wanted to do a full day's worth of runs with one train, this would be a good one.

I think the last Seaford service waits at Brighton and then a Lewes service couples up to the Seaford service at Brighton then empty to depot as a 8 car

Yeah, that's a good point and adds almost an extra 50 minutes of gameplay if you've got the time.

'Great Western Diesel Legends' seems good for services with delays, particularly the class 31 hauled semi-fasts and the DMUs.

One example is the 15:59 Maidenhead - Paddington. At Maidenhead you start on the branch platform and have a delayed start due to waiting for 2R11 (a DMU from Reading) to depart from the adjacent platform on the Up Relief. You then follow it, riding the yellows, all the way to Paddington.

Freight on HRR gets low priority relative to all the passenger traffic which makes it fun.

I ran DB 87307 Eastbound Mixed Freight at 20:10 with the 182. It is similar to a run recommended earlier, the 87207, except there is a bit more traffic, especially with the 101 layer. Expect a wait at the start; you get 10-12 minutes to watch all the passenger traffic clear out.

There is plenty of traffic in both directions with parallel running:

    HRR EB Freight.jpg

... and plenty of adverse signals. Don't forget a 25 kph speed limit as you leave the main about 1 km before the end. Dial up some clouds for optimal night lighting.

Edit: Run number typo corrected thanks to AGoodJudge

You've gotten my attention, but I wish that serious contributors to this thread would specify the TSW route involved. In this case, mentioning Cumberland tells me that the route is good old CSX, but that won't be so obvious in other cases.

    I recommend 5P03 Glasgow Central-Newton in GCC

It's an Empty Stock Move between Glasgow and Newton where you follow closely a Neilstone train on the east part of the circle

Fair point. But seeing how the C40-8W is a loco DLC for SPG and the loco is only driveable on SPG…

I did say that you need to own the C40-8W in my post after all.

Really interesting run, thank you for highlighting it. I was beginning to think Cathcart was a bit of a dead loss for signal checks, so it’s good to see that they do occur.

By the way, it’s odd that 5P03 has no schedule. Is that usual for ECS in TSW? IRL ECS has a schedule like any other train.

MSB is such a great route; I keep coming back for the busy mix of passenger and freight traffic.

    I just discovered this gem:
DB 86104 Aschaffenfburg - Gemunden EB Freight at 07:19

This is an excellent run. To get the best traffic experience, put it in mode M and don’t be afraid to push the 120kph top speed.

You encounter WB traffic crossing your path at the start and at just after the Heigenbrucken tunnel. Near the end, you catch up with an EB passenger run./SPOILER]

You can Try that service with DB BR182 155 & 185.2. The passenger service might be either a Lohr-Gemunden or Aschaffenburg-Gemünden local.

Sorry if it's been brought up before - service IC2319 on HRR with the 101 was quite a nice run, not all greens (not too sure if it's because I left Essen about a minute late though)

I realize the LIRR timetable is a bit of a joke here, and for good reason, but I have a submission (or 2).
Hempstead train 710 (8 cars) departs Penn Station at the same time as a Belmont Park service (11:01), and the two run side-by-side through the East River Tunnels. Whoever reaches Queens first gets the road to Woodside. The player is generally a bit faster, but a slightly delayed departure from Penn Station will see you running under adverse signals, especially as the Belmont is timetabled to be after the Hempstead train.

The petroleum tanker train is not Haputstrecke Rhein-Ruhr but it's Rhein-Ruhr Osten because that route along with Main Spessart Bahn have Zacns tanker wagons. German equivalent to DOT-111 pre Lac Megantic derailment. Post Lac Megantic US Canada tanker wagons are DOT-117 standard

Also service IC2157, you're following a BR425 service, so you can get a few reds.

What locomotive are you using for this because I'm going to try running the local service to see what it looks like. The 05:40 Gemünden to Aschaffenburg local gets stuck at Heigenbrücken because DB 88101 is behind you and a Schiebelokomotive which must return back to Laufach. If you're late with 05:40 local DB 88101 185 155 & 182 will catch up to you at Wiestal.

What a great set up! And, speaking as someone who once set up a chaos run by boarding a moving train, it is not at all too contrived.

I got the Saturday Special rolling behind all the traffic and then SPADed when I misread a semaphore distant signal. I will give it another go soon.

I just finished this one and stumbled into Leeds nearly 20 minutes late.. You know it's a good chaos run when you have to worry about a SPAD during the set up. This was excellent - one of my top TSW experiences!

The first time I had a SPAD just before Standedge tunnel. It seemed that there was a red right at the entrance to the tunnel, but a green shortly before it. I was going track speed and had no chance. It almost happened again on the second try, but fortunately I was coming off a caution when I saw the green so I had just started accelerating when the surprise red appeared and I was able to just barely stop in time. It could be that I misread the preceeding signal - British signals are admittedly not my forte!

I saved the set up just before leaving the loco driven service at Stalybridge and walking back to Saturday Special. This seemed to create a marker to reliably reproduce the run for future attempts.

    Thanks again.

I'm fairly certain there's one or two signals that aren't wired up right in NTP unfortunately. I'd like to be proven wrong but I have come across some puzzling moments myself. Still, keeps us alert I suppose. Can't wait to try this run out.

I prefer to hop in a train such as the class 166 in GWR or the M7 in the LIRR and do round trips between Paddington and reading & Hempstead and the city terminal zone respectively. For ruhr sieg nord I prefer the scenarios over the service mode. And for NEC the freight scenarios 192.168.100.1 192.168.1.1 are the best.

During the morning peak on CCL, theres a few class 1 Glasgow-Neilston services that are fast between Glasgow and Muirend (and vice versa)

I don’t yet own CCL. Is there a specific service you would like to recommend? If so, what makes it stand out?

These services are 1N12 Glasgow - Neilston (dep. 0750) and 1N05 Neilston - Glasgow (dep. 0810). There appears to be noting of much note (not driven them, just loaded them up) apart from they are unique in that they skip all stations between Central and Muirend (the one to Glasgow additionally calls at Pollockshields East). All other passenger services on the route (bar the railtour) call at all stations.
