They are locked in a down position...and I believe it is up to the preservation team to add them once the route is updated later on

The wheels on the long hood bogie of the UP AC4400 do not spin when the train moves.

I think the sounds of the AC4400 sounds like a jet engine

Has anyone else had trouble with hand switches? The handle seems to be be backwards when you first walk up to it so its opposite to the lay of the points, then when you try and throw it the handle goes over there is the sound effect for points being thrown but the blades do not move, then you throw the handle again and they work.

Sounds like how the manual switches work on Peninsula Corridor. I find it to be much more fickle to use than the simple click-toggle that SPG uses for switches.

Oh they should work the same as SPG yes, but the handle is on backwards :). You have to throw the switch twice. I've submitted a bug report.

Have you used one of the autumn presets? You rocks seem to be forming flocks to go south for winter. :D

Lol yes they do, I found another one up near the main line - I think they're breeding before migrating.

In the latest stream Matt said that the crossings were fixed as they are normally activated by the signaling.
Since there is none on CC it was easiest to leave them down.

Animated grade crossings should be standard on all routes at release. We've had them intermittently since "Heavy Haul". If they can be done on one route, such as SEHS, they should be standard issue now.

As said before, the animated grade crossings were designed to work using nearby signals as triggers. Since Cane Creek has no signals out of the main line, DTG tried to develop another system but it did not work as expected. The point we are at is that devs think they figured out why it does not work and they will try to get it fixed, but they can't promise anything.

I do wonder if it’s easier to program them to activate using nearby signals as triggers? I wonder how Sand Patch Grade did it in TSW2020 but I heard when they were animated it caused performance issues.

It could be done with a trigger volume, for example the train enters the volume, gates go down, train leaves volume gates up, it's quite simple, I'm quite miffed that the likes of SH can't do it.

I don't think your reference has much to do with what I said (Alps vs Canyons). Apart from that for me the phrase "I can't wait" is dead. Which is why my weekly purchases were the GWE (London-Reading), HHL (Hamburg-Lubeck), CRR (Elkhorn City-Dante), the DB BR 182 (for Rapid Transit) and the C40-8W. All stuff I didn't have on PC yet. Cane Creek, given the particularity (visually beautiful but questionable in longevity), it is part of those routes that I will buy with the next sales.

For me, the route looks nice but I find it hard to spend too much time on it due to the (in my opinion) Immersion Breaking car sounds no matter where I spawn even if am nowhere near a road

I was going to purchase this on day one, but I think I will wait until the few teething issues are sorted or until it becomes discounted. I still very much would like to own this route, however I can wait for the initial patch. Hopefully, given Skyhook's track record, we can expect a quicker patch turnaround than is typical.

    Cheers

I have just found an issue on the AC44. If you are outside on the drivers side and you turn on the internal cab light with the "L" key, the light shines through the front grill panel below the cab window. Now thats weird!!

Can Creek is missing whistle posts before the road crossings.

In the release stream, towards the end of the run from Moab to the mainline, Matt briefly opened the covered hopper roof hatches manually. So at least this seems to be possible if they don't open automatically.

There were definately whistle boards in the release stream, although I didn't pay attention if there were any crossings without them. UP uses an "X" sign instead of the commonly used "W" or "WX" boards.

That would probably be my advice for anyone in two minds right now as well. There‘s a lot to love on this route if it‘s your cup of tea, but there are quite some teeting issues right now. Wait for the (hopefully soon released) initial patch and observe the forum feedback afterwards.

How are people finding the scenarios? Are they any good.

I’m still not sold on all the slow speed which is dissuading me. I’m not sure if I’m subliminally holding out for rush hour.

Yeah I'm sure they need a series of focus groups and thorough market analysis to know not to release add-ons with floating scenery.

If signals are used as triggers for crossings why not create invisible assets, similar to Trainz. Or something akin to the TRC or ATLS system used in that game?

I'm on my 3rd scenario and it's as good as playing any other American routes if you are British.

Don't be put off by speed and thoughts of 'boring' runs. The first 2 scenarios allow you up to 60/70 mph!
My advice, just wait for the next patched version if you 'have' to buy it. Or better still, wait for a sale price. If things don't get fixed, DTG will be giving it away! :)

I've seen beautiful, scenic screenshots of this route now and already beginning to think about buying it, after like two days of resistance ...
Gotta be strong, I have enough unfinished US freight business left already :-D

    Edit
conniethunder your last comment helped a lot to solve my situation

Yeah I've discovered you can climb on top of every carriage and open them yourself. You can even do the last two from the 3 camera which is a little weird, you're a camera, how come you can interact with the world?

Really they all allow for 70mph lol.... you won't get such a good medal though. It'll even get around most of the curves at 80mph...

You didn‘t know about that before? Everything you can do on foot, you can do in the 3 or 8 cam as well. This includes (un-)coupling, throwing switches, etc - you can even operate some locos through an open window.

Is it realistic? No. Is it extremely useful? Absolutely.

haha, yeah, derailing by speeding seems almost impossible in TSW. But it can be done. Pro tip: the SD40-2 can go a lot faster down the line than the AC44

This type of message really does not help Skyhook, as Blacknred81 has pointed out better feedback will win the day. After seeing your response to his post that may not be likely.

In fairness to Skyhook Games, Shaun who was part of the PS4 Cane Creek live stream, did acknowledge that they had to rework a lot of graphics that were 'floating' / 'colliding', so things like this just got missed during testing.

I'd also like to remind everyone, that PC games released today (and consoles for that matter), are never bug free!
I've been buying games from GOG for many years and have over 1000 in my collection. Every week for months, there would be updates to my games. So this is an on going 'theme' with developers/publishers.

I'm afraid to say it, but you/we 'the gamer', are the beta testers for modern games - maybe we have always been! :o

Then get a refund. Also perhaps you may learn to not buy a route that has a similar style to cane creek again if you don't like it. Your Credit or Debit Card will thank you later
