Hi folks, I own a digital copy of TSW2020 on Xbox (paid for, not on Game-pass) and 2 DLC. This week I decided to buy TSW2 from the MS Store. The 2 legacy DLC routes I had also bought transferred fine over to TSW2 (Rapid Transit and Great Western Express), but the TSW2020 core routes for some reason are not available for install into TSW2 (Main-Spessart Bahn, Long Island Rail Road, and Northern Trans-Pennine). Both games show in my Xbox library as owned. So is this by design? I was under the impression ALL preserved routes would be transferred provided TSW2020 was paid for (and obviously on the same platform). I logged a ticket (#FDX-295-82878) with DTG but received a canned response which was of no help at all. They even closed it as Resolved without asking my opinion, which in my professional experience is a big no-no for a helpdesk support service! P.S. I also have TSW2020 and TSW2 on PS and PC and all preserved routes transferred fine in those ecosystems.
I received both Great Western Express and Rapid Transit through preserved collection, having got the original TSW disk edition on Xbox. I had to file a ticket and then provide the evidence of the disk & cover (just images) then I was emailed the code for the individual DLCs. I think it would be a good measure to have a second go, and if it's ignored it might be a good idea to directly contact a member of the community staff.
From memory, when I was installing preserved content from TSW2020 into TSW2, the procedure was to open TSW2020 and look for the free versions of the routes which you already own there, and when you download them they will transfer over to TSW2. If you look for your previously owned routes in TSW2 instead, all you'll find there will be the paid versions. That confused me at the time, so I just mention it in case it's useful.
The 2 TSW2020 DLC were ready to install in TSW2 so no problems there. The TSW2020 core routes however are still not available in TSW2, despite having both games installed!
Depends what edition of TSW you bought. TSW1 was updated to TSW2020. If you bought the game before this you will have GWE and RT available in TSW2. That's what would've been in the original TSW1 (and NEC but we don't have that in TSW2). You must own one of the Xbox TSW2020 bundles currently on the Microsoft Store to get routes like MSB, NTP, LIRR etc (or have them purchased separately) in TSW2. It may appear these are owned because having Game Pass allows these routes to be installed (TSW2020 standard edition is on there). Having them installed does not imply ownership. If you see TSW2020 as buy to own on the store it means that account does not own it. If it does show as owned and you don't see TSW2 add-ons owned in the store then that is not normal. Those that buy TSW2020 now don't get Rapid Transit and NEC. The routes are available to purchase individually on Xbox. When TSW2 Rush Hour releases, TSW2 will be updated to TSW2 Rush Hour. Again this does not mean you get those new bundle of routes. You own whatever was originally included in your purchased TSW bundle.
Thank you L89 that explains why! I must have bought TSW pre 2020 (back when I had an XB1X) as I have RT and GWE available. Mystery solved, but clear as mud to the uninitiated.
