After getting into TSW2 the last week, it made me wonder, what cool Train themed films are there?

One that springs to mind for me is Unstoppable. A relatively new film - A freight train has its break left off and starts rolling. Eventually gathering speed and engineers trying to stop it.

Apparently it's based on a real event, so even more interesting.

    So. come on, list yours!

I watched the polar express once , it was alright . I’m not massive into films about trains , I prefer documentaries and travel programs about trains , but a film is fun to watch once in a while

Not really a train movie but it’s the same “family” but I enjoyed the taking of Pelham 123 and I’m talking about the modern one released in 2009 and it was a fiction but I also like documentaries even the one from work unavailable elsewhere

I can think of one film I'd add to the many I mentioned in that other thread (and I did rather run on- if anything I love films more than trains so films with trains...)- Our Hospitality made by Buster Keaton in 1925 IIRC. At the beginning his character takes a journey on a mid 19th Century railway which doesn't really add to the story but serves up a few minutes of wonderfully inventive and sustained comedy with references to John Ford's The Iron Horse made the year before. Keaton was in his prime at this time and the studio had a locomotive based on Rocket built, with whimsical modifications, for this.

Some of the sequence can be found on YouTube though I have yet to find a complete version but I recommend the film as a whole anyway.

Go West with the Marx Brothers is pretty funny, especially as they chop up the coaches to fuel the locomotive and run without rails for a while.
