The ACS-64 looks better in those screenshots than it did in TSW 2020. The bit on top was too red I think in TSW 2020.

The biggest issue that I found is that the catenary is wrong. They used the PRR and New Haven catenary, which is not on this part of the route.

While we already knew this route would come with MBTA single-deck coaches, we finally know what type they are. They the versions built by MBB (Models BTC-3 & CTC-3 for the cab car):

Have to say, liking the look of this route right now.

"more articles in the coming weeks on Boston Sprinter."

Doesn't sound like that's coming soon. But rather like everything comes significantly later.

Gotta love the OLE being completely and utterly wrong, the ballast color being wrong, and the purple stripe being the wrong color, oh and the german platform signs. Congrats DTG, my expectations for this were low, but holy heck.

The catenary is incorrect. They've used nearly century old catenary from the PRR/NYNHH days when this line was only electrified in the 90s. The use of MBB coaches is... weird since most of the single deck coaches are Bombardier. This also means that they'll get near zero reuse value out of these coaches (unless they just decide to use them elsewhere anyway). The platform number signs, which are just reskined signs from the German routes, are also a bizarre inclusion since they don't exist. You can look up pictures of Attleboro station (the one in the screenshot) and see that there are no number sign. And the PIS screen in the background is a blatant copy-paste of the standard UK PIS screen like we saw with the LIRR DLC. Overall, as someone who has visited Boston many times and ridden the Purple Line quite a bit, I can't say I'm particularly impressed with what I'm seeing. Maybe these are placeholders and will be changed before release, but I'm not holding my breath.

That's great, with BDR being cut NEC is the route I am most looking forward to, will we see any news about ATC and ACSES, and whether or not it has improved since the TSW2020 NEC and LIRR? The cab of the ACS-64 seems to have more functionalities at a first glance which is cool.

With DTG it's never like this, when we saw the wrong DoStos it was WiP, when we saw the wrong centenary in LGV it was WiP, etc... the only two times anything changed between screenshots being showed and the actual route have been the CC rolling stock and the SEHS modifications.

There is no way they are changing the catenary now - this is what we get in the release.

    It looks great to me.

I hope they manage to get the platform heights and the stairs/door operations correct. (I'm assuming some MBTA stops still have low platforms)

There was no mix of high and low platforms on the New York or Caltrain routes so there's no current mechanism to open the doors differently depending on the platform height.

Another small detail I hope they fix: The inside doors at the end of the Amfleet cars should slide closed on their own after a few seconds. The TSW 2020 ones stay open. And that's a weird omission considering that there is no close button at all on the door.

Almost guaranteed that it will be the same sounds as the original NEC route and the F40PH from Peninsula Corridor.

Well I guess all American train fans should prepare for the worst. They might even use the same excuse as with Cane Creek. Also, in the RH trailer that's in the article when they announced the staggered release and price increase, I detected the same engine sound at idle that's in the Caltrain F40, and it was hidden by the squeal of a bunch of electrostars entering London Victoria.

I doubt they traveled to the US to record new sounds, perhaps they have done a better mix of the original source files though.

    (taken this morning)
Small thing, but the F40 IRL has LED headlights like the Acs-64, different than the headlights from Caltrain.

Hopefully the F40 will have the true to life E Bell vs the mechanical Caltrain bell.

I feel like the material of the F40 needs to be much, much shinier than it is; and the ACS-64 should be a little more reflective. They’re nowhere near that matte in real life.

Same for the Amfleet coach, actually. They should look more metallic and less plasticky.

The biggest detail to notice is that the route is using the wrong cab car. The providence line does not use single level cab cars on the southern lines. Only the north. MBTA uses multi-levels for the NEC.

That still doesn’t get rid of all single level cab cars tho. NONE run on the providence line

IRL, locomotives are only glossy when they're fresh out of the wash, with fairly new paint. They get dull pretty quickly in service. Amtrak rolling stock is notably grungy.

Which would be fine, if TSW had appropriately weathered locomotives. But they don’t. They exist in some weird middle ground of being neither dirty nor spotless.

Part of the problem is that the texture mapping doesn't allow for multiple reflectivity layers, so one can't do matte dirt on top of gloss paint.

I might get the Season Pass to get this (I am getting BML either on its own or as part of this), it looks nice, and, as I don't have a clue about US Railways, I can't complain about wrong stuff (Note: I can see the German Signs & LIRR (qka modified UK) PIS)

    But it looks quite nice.

I admit the screens are looking good and work like some sort of painkiller after the recent wounds (although not healing them).

Let's hope the safety systems and other gameplay will work well and do this route justice. Time will tell...

I think Nat made it in livery designer and got carried away with the usual pink ;)

I think it looks good, and will at least offer us Brits a worthy USA route to keep us entertained in TSW2
Some of these facts might depend on when they 'set the time' for the route though.

Ahh yes, finally the return of American passenger routes. I truly hope this route pays off. Many options to extend this route with add-ons like the Acela to bring more life to it.
For now it's WIP, time will tell how it goes.
I have high expectations for this route especially, being that it was in TSW 1, then now another part of it is made now.
Hopefully we get more American passenger routes, like commuter routes and subway or rapid transit routes, namely the New York Subway, or Chicago's L train.
I am honestly excited to play this route.
