So.. NWC (merged with the holyhead extension) unbranded official re-release and DirectX12 upgrade prep work for impending release confirmed by Danny then.. Awesome!! I'm just kidding Danny, I know how you hate having your posts misinterpreted, and how some people hold you solely responsible for what they've mistakenly interpreted from your posts.. I assume the reality of the update was something completely mundane and boring..
I'll be honest I don't even know if DirectX12 for TS2021 is even possible (Would love to be proven wrong though ), but equally, I don't officially speak for DTG on here (I Only know that it wasn't Tehachapi because I Would have made the ap file ). I think it was most likely a 3rd party update on steam (I also got one but don't know what it was for )
It seems that update may have been for the Washington To Baltimore route, seeing that Brandon was doing a live video today.
He did? Well as for the route there wasn't an update for that one either (I think most likely a 3rd party route - if it were first party I'd know on that one - (i'm the one that does the ap files )
Bummer I am left scratching my head as to what the update was for then. The only thing left would be one of the workshop routes.
I dont think it was though, as he stated on the TSC discord on the 23rd that he was gonna submit the file to DTG in the coming days, so I doubt the 23rd Update was for the Wash- Batl route
Talking of which, can you post up a tutorial on how to unpack a.ap file.. edit its contents, then repack it and still have it actually work please? I've given up trying now. I think you posted something way back when fastload came out, but I never managed to get anything I repacked working again.
It's just really a glorified Zip file, nothing more than that - I can post the image that i put up originally? As for Extracting and Making a new one - 1) Move your changed files to another folder 2) Extract the Ap File 3) Delete the Ap file or backup the AP File (remember the name of the file) 4) Copy the changed files that you have done back into the folder. 4) Create the AP file with the same settings as the above picture (note the name in this example of "CrossCityAssets.ap" Not really a tutorial but it's one of those things. (to note change the settings to the above before you rename the file from zip to ap in the above screenshot - the circled red bit )
The trick to remember is that .ap files are zero compressed files ie if they are 1GB as an .ap file they are still 1 GB when extracted unlike conventional, .7z, .rar or .zip files. If you apply ANY compression with winzip, 7z, Winrar, etc - they will no longer work as an .ap file.
Yep and possibly the most important part of Danny's picture (other than the naming of course) is not circled..
I didn't think I would have to say about the compression (I did mention about copying the above settings in 7zip) but equally though it's a fair point. To be honest though when you've done one or two it's not really that difficult to do. (then again I have done a fair few of them )
The reason I highlighted it Danny is because it was always one of the main reasons mods failed in ETS2 in the old days when they were packaged up as .scs files, the Devs actually encourage you to leave them as .zips nowadays but anyway I digress. As default I believe 7zip sets the compression to standard, and this is what trips some people up. Just trying to add further level of awareness to what you posted that's all.
