This would be a suggestion for several years in the future. I love the density of the timetables in Rush Hour, would you ever consider doing something similar in terms of freight, with constant shunting, loading and unloading, mainline services passing by, branches etc?
Perhaps a new US route could be made. Sherman Hill is a great idea. Cheyenne and Laramie have yards and locals could be operated to and from the industries along the route. Plus, Sherman Hill would give us the Big Boy #4014, Challenger #3985 (no longer operating, but it needs to be added), FEF3 #844, and a few UP modern diesels. For heavy trains, I'd suggest a UP C45AH (ET44AC), C45ACCTE (ES44AC), SD70ACe, SD70M, SD90/43MAC, CW6044AC, or SD70AH-T4. For local freights, a UP GP60 or SD40R could be included. For yard duties, the UP SW10 from TS2021 is a great addition, but an MP15DC/AC or SW1500 could work, too. Other DLC locos could be the UP Heritage Fleet: the E9 A-B-A set, DDA40X #6936, and/or the UP Heritage SD70ACes.
Or Horseshoe Curve in the post Conrail era, Tehachapi Pass in the SP years, Burlington Northern's Crawford Hill, D&RGW/UP's Moffat Subdivision etc.
Next year is presumably the Spirit of Steam update as some have suspected, but perhaps the following year we could get improved freight. I’d be interested in some US short line routes perhaps, with some older locos and switchers.
For the Northeastern United States freight route how about NS Lehigh Line Allentown, PA to Newark, NJ. European routes how about HRR Ost Bochum-Dortmund/Hagen via Witten that route has Hagen Vorhalle Rangierbanhof. Perfect if you're a Ruhr-Sieg Nord DB BR363 Rhein-Ruhr Osten G6 and Main Spessart Bahn DB BR204 owner because you have a proper use for them. In the Berlin Area, there's Rbf Seddin.
I do like the idea of US shortlines being represented in TSW2. Although it would be hard to not continously do G&W owned routes. XD
How about Haputstrecke Rhein-Ruhr Ost the Bochum Hagen Branch via Witten the RB16 from Ruhr Sieg Nord towards Essen has to be held for a freight train going into Rangierbahnof Hagen Vorhalle. Where you have DB BR363 Vossloh G6 working the yard.
It could be a good time to introduce Norfolk Southern into the game. Maybe something like the Harrisburg line
Sadly I don’t really think there is any where that there is consistently lots of traffic for freight.
There's gotta be a few major freight hubs somewhere in the world. I guess a major port would be a pretty busy freight hub, getting all those containers loaded from boat to train and vice versa.
How about the port of Rotterdam major Seaport in the Netherlands and also how about giving Hamburg-Lübeck port connections at Lubeck and Hamburg. That way through there are container trains going to or from the docks. Meaning Rhein-Ruhr Osten can be useful for container traffic towards Rotterdam from the Ruhr-Valley region via the Duisburg-Oberhausen-Arnhem Railway. Fed by Haputstrecke Rhein-Ruhr Bochum Duisburg/Oberhausen with the missing segment being Haputstrecke Rhein-Ruhr Ost Bochum Dortmund/Hagen via Witten.
We're getting TSW2: Rush Hour. I don't see why there can't be a TSW2: Heavy Haulin' (I know it's cringey lol). But if this does become a thing, I don't think the routes will focus only on freight services, since most freight routes also feature lots of passenger services that not including them would make the route feel dead, like with OSD not having GO trains (although that's more of a licensing issue).
Chicago. I know there are a lot of railroads and lots of tens of thousands of freight cars roll through every day. It would be cool to have multiple railroads, class one and shortlines, that are from the area in one route all interchanging freight traffic
