It kind of is true in a way. We have operators in game that are featured on the list like BR, Southern and SNCF. In terms of FGW, they did have the license but first turned around and said no, so it is now confined and hidden in in game files

There isn't an official Discord. Would be useful to know who posted it and where.

Until it comes from DTG themselves I will treat it with a healthy dose of scepticism since if won't have been the first time somebody has faked a screenshot or posted a "wish" as "fact".

The list could be a good indicator of what is coming to TSW2 over the next year or so. Take out the names that are already in the game and you are left with some licensors that point to specific routes, and some more general, but with some knowledge, research and thought it may be possible to predict exactly what’s coming before it appears on the roadmap. If it’s real.

The new stuff seems to be:

Aiken (not sure what this is)
    Avanti West Coast
    BNSF
First Great Western (if distinct from GWR)
    Freightliner
    Grand Central
    Great Northern
    HVV (presumably Hamburg)
    Merseyrail
    NJ Transit
    OEBB
    ONE (pink containers)
    Railway Museum
    Thameslink
    Thurbo
    VIA Rail

(Gatwick Express, MBTA and VVO already known about, and presumably Southern DFT is the new logo as part of GTR)

I don't know about Thameslink, but I believe DTG does have a license for BNSF within the United States.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have my doubts about the list's authenticity though ( or at least its currency). Where, for instance, are Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific, or is there a page missing?

Also, many of these "licenses" are not new, though they could be for TSW.

Oh and I asked my dad (who works for chiltern(it’s on the BTW)) if he knew about the chiltern license but he doesn’t
He isn’t part of the publicity or license whatever though, he just fixes the trains

Since many are just making speculation at this point, might as well see which operators have not been made in TSW2 yet that is on the filter list from 4.26. Shall we:
    -Aiken (what?)
    -Avanti West Coast
-BNSF (not ganna happen for sure)
    -Canadian Pacific
    -Chiltern Railway (by Arriva)
    -Cross Country (by Arriva)
    -Freightliner
    -Grand Central (by Arriva)
-Great Nothern (not even sure which one at this point)
    -Merseyrail
    -NJ Transit
    -OBB
-Southern (not sure which one either, except one from Govia Thameslink)
    -Thurbo
-VIA Rail (not gonna happen as well)
At least this will give your heads scratching for a bit.

Aiken is a small freight operator in the USA, South Carolina I think, according to a quick google search

That's what I found as well. Which to me, makes NO sense as to why add it to TSW2 in the "possible" future from that list (even without NS along with it). It really makes no sense, honestly.
Plus what I found on the Aiken Railway, it has 2 lines (the Warrenville and the North Aiken) which only have and operate 2 GP30s to run on. Though I'm surprised DTG manage to get the logo from them, somehow.

I think Aiken is the person who found this in the game files.

Thing is these are probably just placeholders. Possibly something has been mocked up to demo to the Rail Companies to try and get them on board. Maybe some basic external models

Not particularly associated just with this list but in answer to the BNSF inclusion on it and people’s assertion that it could never appear in TSW. Things change. Always keep that in mind. Just because up to a point a license has not been obtainable it does not mean it can never be obtained, just as in the same way a license that was held can cease to be held for a multitude of reasons. In a case where DTG have been unable to speak to exactly the right person in a big organisation in the past it does not mean the person with the ability to say yes to a license will never be reached. Nothing stays the same forever, ask my belt size.

Great Northern are the ones that run semi fast services from King's Cross to Cambridge, Ely, King's Lynn and Peterborough etc. They're owned by the same company as Southern and Thameslink.

What's interesting is that Norfolk Southern is completely omitted from this list, I know DTM had issues trying to get them to approve a EL scheme awhile back, I wonder if the NS license has completely fell thru. Not to mention Norfolk Southern IRL is a mess right now anyway (Layoffs, constant derailments)

However, the company just announced all-time record profits for Q2, 2021.

But I agree its absence from the list is a mystery. There's a long list of NS routes and locos in TS.

Perhaps the licenses for TS do not automatically transfer to TSW, though most of the Class1 roads have appeared in both Sims.

DTG does have a bnsf license in ts2021, but that license is only applicable in the United States. If a bnsf was purchased outside the U.S then your train would be unbranded

Of course, it could be the Great Northern Railway, which ran from St Paul, Minnesota to Seattle, Washington and is the predecessor of Burlington Northern, and thence BNSF.
I could be joking, but then again, it has appeared in TS Classic, along with a beautiful F7 and its "Empire Builder" liveried cars and freight wagons. :)

Grand Central is a railway company in the U.K. If it says Grand Central then it's referring to the railway. Yes Grand Central Terminal is a station for MTA Metro North Railroad trains and the MTA New York City Subway but if there was gonna be a reference to Metro-North, then it would probably say "MTA_MNR" like how it says "MTA_LIRR" for the long island railroad license

Still I was hoping to see MTA- Metro North Routes, since they already did LIRR. This is my personal favorite route that i have been waiting but still they haven't come out with one for TSW 2. I was hoping in TSW, but it didn't happen, Along with Other NYC MTA Company routes like NJ Transit, PATH Train, as well as others.

Doesn't matter if the lines Grand Central operate are short though. They possibly have the license to that rail company

I would love to see metro north routes as well. I usually take the New Haven line or the Hudson line to go upstate from the city and i enjoyed playing the Hudson and New Haven lines in ts2021 as well

What do you mean short? Grand Central's services are all 2+ hours, we'd more than likely only get a small portion of the routes they operate, unless that's what you mean by short routes.

It isn’t a list of all the licenses DTG have, just what’s already in or potentially coming soon in TSW2. If there are no plans for any NS content then there is no need for the logo in the game files. That’s all the list is, logos of licensed material in TSW2. Of course if no NS license is available then it won’t appear there.

No offence to yourself or your old man, but unless they work directly in the brand/marketing or legal divisions, it is _highly_ unlikely that any major company employee knows who has particular brand/product licenses etc.

I work for one of the largest equipment manufacturers in the world (with a particularly iconic golden colour scheme) as a design engineer (which means I have to do required learning every year about protecting the company brand and how to apply it to parts etc) and even I don't know who has licenses for it (and there will be dozens if not hundreds)

Yeah that's what express means, it's 265 miles between Sunderland & Kings Cross, that doesn't include the line to Bradford.
