Does Dovetail have any advice for players before the update arrives ? Is it best to remove all of the DLCs prior to the very large update ? and then re-install them afterwards ? I have about 180 gigs of DLCs.
I'm sure others will be interested to know .....

There should be no need to remove any DLC- they will simply be replaced. The only reason to remove installed files would be (a) delete mods, because 4.23 mods will NOT work with 4.26; or (b) if you have limited drive space and there isn't enough free space to (temporarily) hold both the old and the new files.
It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to back up a custom engine.ini file and use a vanilla one, then go back and add commands as needed.

Delete the mods and if you are in a hurry to play again, deactivate all your DLC and the activate them in small quantities, depending on what you like to play first. This strategy also may be useful if you are low on free disk space.

DTG said on a stream (I think last week's preview stream) that some people will benefit from uninstalling everything back to bare game but ONLY if they're low on disk space. This is because to upgrade the routes means having the old route in place, the download from the internet which is then unpacked before the upgrade takes place, so THREE spaces used for DLC in that instant.
Of course once the upgrade is complete you should end up with less on your hard disk overall as the 4.26 DLC are smaller than 4.23 DLC (better compression in the new version)

Been wondering about this myself. I've got a lot of mods and ini edits. So I'm contemplating uninstalling and doing a complete reinstall to avoid any issues or conflicts.

There isn't a catch-all advice that can be given as everyone's circumstances will be different (ie # of DLCs owned, Internet speed, Internet data allowances, free disk space etc).

Some people will be happy just to let it do it's thing and download their entire library where others will try to limit the amount of downloads so as to get in game as soon as possible.

I think unticking the DLCs and then once the base game is updated reticking them as you want to use them is a great idea.

That’s what I intend to do, but keep in mind each route is 10-12gb and will take a time to dl..
Hopefully the sizes will be a bit smaller with the update.
Matt has suggested something along these lines.
Will have to wait and see.

I've backed up my entire setup, so at least I've got a copy of the 4.23 game if it all goes pear shaped!

That's the size of the file on disk - they download compressed, for example HRR is a 2GB download yet takes 11GB on my disk.

I would suggest doing a backup of your save game folder in Documents and doing a full reinstall. UE4 games take forever to update the files on disk and you are downloading the entire file anyway.

I’ll likely just bin off what I have on Tuesday and let it all reinstall from scratch. Seems easiest to me. No point keeping mods either as they all need to be repackaged so I’ll just delete the lot .

I'm not in all that much of a hurry, so I intend just to let it do One Big Download while I'm off doing something else.

    Backing up your Documents/MyGames/TrainSimWorld2/Saved
folder is always a good idea and that applies here as well.

I also plan to keep a copy of my Engine.ini additions as well.

As for Mods, I recommend TSW2 Mod Manager 2.1.0 by Task Plays found here:
    https://mods.trainsimcommunity.com/...d-2/c75-utilities/i1093-tsw-2-mod-manager-210

You can deactivate all your Mods before the update. The Mod Manager will let you know when they have been updated for 4.26.

I did some testing using the EGS platform and installed an old mod. On startup you get a nice warning that some DLC are not compatible with the present game core version. It even tells you the file name and then just launches the game. This is really helpful.

I mean... no one will call you out for your language. Totally fine. But why all caps? No one will take you seriously. Just write the same thing, but not all caps - perfect.

Given that English isn't their first language, and given that there's a question mark at the end I would assume that hey mean "Do you have a problem?"

I think I'll delete all mods and let the update do its thing over night.
Im pretty sure that there will be updates versions for most mods after the steam release of the 4.26 update.

Cool down, boys. Nat or somebody pointed out that Fanta is a native Chinese speaker; AIUI Chinese writing doesn't have upper and lower case, so the use of caps is not something that instinctively registers as significant. In fact, a line of block caps probably looks more "normal" to someone accustomed to zhongwen.

Yes. but at least you will be informed. You cannot see it by just looking at the .pak file.
