You won't find an N700 and E5 on the same route, the Shinkansen is split in two unconnected halves. The Northern network (E-W-H series) and Southern Network (N700) meet in Tokyo station, but there is no track connection between the two and they use different electrical systems as a result of Japan's split power grid. The other issue with the Shinkansen is the length of the routes - you are looking at around 300-600km. You could build a short section, but how would you fit it into the Service Pattern
Meh, I'm not a fan of dedicated high speed lines. Wouldn't mind seeing some high speed trains sharing a route with commuter trains though.
It depends on how it's done. I'm enjoying SEHS because, as you say, it has the mix of high speed and commuter trains, but even the high speed runs have stops and power changeovers to keep it interesting. The speedy white thing on the Koln route hasn't held my interest at all.
Personally I don’t find high speed lines of the current length in TSW2 that interesting unless, as others have said already, it is combined with commuter traffic. I bought the TGV route and it gets boring for me very quickly despite being a nice train. So I wouldn’t buy this unless it was a significantly longer route than we have at the moment. Even then I’m not sure. It depends how much actual driving there is to be done. I prefer German routes, but the ICE trains virtually drive themselves on parts of the routes, which to me is not fun and I turn that feature off unless I want to make a coffee! I can’t see a short high speed only route with only one train being super popular. Maybe I’m wrong and the current high speed routes are actually best sellers?
I wouldnt think they're best sellers, although I know there is a wanting by the community for longer routes, even more so for high speed.
The speedy white thing on the Koln route at least shares its track with other less speedy red things. Similarly, the green speedy thing on the Reading route shares its tracks with less speedy red and green things. Even though I love seeing new countries, the only reason I did not buy the Marseille-Avignon route is because it's a dedicated high speed lines offering nothing but high speed. I would've loved to see a French route with more than just TGVs...
If you're looking for an American route for the N700 it's Texas Central High Speed. It's planned to use N700S as said on ABC Dallas-Fort Worth
BTW, the photo you posted isn't an N700, but just a regular 700 series Shinkansen, the N700s have a different nose shape to them. 700 series N700 series
Also if Tokyo were to be modelled (and if it wasn't it just wouldn't be a Shinkansen route would it), you'd need heavy city landscaping and a Shinkansen arriving departing every 3-4 minutes, let alone the neighbouring local lines... I'm not sure TSW is up to that mark just yet. Was standing there yesterday to pick someone up, while I was waiting 3 Shinkansen arrived within 5 minutes of each other...
Oh yes. The Tokaido Shinkansen (Tokyo-Nagoya-Kyoto-Osaka) runs 16 car trains every 4-6 mins. It's so busy that JR Central are building a MagLev to relieve it!
You can literally walk to the station without a travelling schedule and just hop on the next one, especially now the prepaid card system Japan has can be used on shinkansen too. a business man's waiting time is literally a few minutes max. Nice way to travel but it's pricey (cheaper than flying though)
Densha De Go managed to recreate the Sanyo shinkansen that covered the entire route from Osaka to Hakata for the PS2 20 years ago that included the 0, 100, 300, 500 and 700 series trains so there's no reason why there couldn't be a version for TSW2.
That wouldn't surprise me - the problem is the Higher detail of a 4K system means that development costs a LOT more than in the PS2 era. Plus Densha had the cost somewhat subsidised by the Arcade version - a proper DDG machine will set you back a lot more than a home game.
Strange, the train there doesn't interest me at all. if a Japanese Shinkansen route should ever come, a Shinkansen series 0 would have to be included so that I would buy it.
Of all the Shinkansen series the 0 Series might be the easiest for DTG to make as there are a lot of resources online about it (including manuals although in Japanese), and also there is a 0 Series in the National Rail Museum in York, UK. So for intricate visual reference of the head loco and cab they don't have to travel to Japan.
How about the Hakata-Minami Line in Kyushu that is only about 6 miles long? The only problem is it starts in a huge overhead station in a typically crowded Japanese city and ends in a huge shinkansen depot that usually has dozens of shinkansen there! The plus side is you'd get to drive the 0, 100, 300, 500, 700 and N700 series trains and if you set it in 2011 you'd also get to see the Kyushu shinkansen which runs past Hakata Minami station with 800s and N700s as non playable shinkansen before the 100s and 300s were retired!
Looks like TS Classic is getting a Shinkansen Route through Just Trains & Union Workshop. Currently in closed Beta with Release Date TBC. E5 Included - though I give it 5 mins before H5 reskins are out there too If this is a success then there is a greater chance of TSW getting something in the future.
Don't worry California will get there's done... ...In about another 50 years What a joke of a project
