    I was thinking this morning, we have some incredible mod makers frequent and support this forum and game. I’d love to profess to be one , sadly I’m not. It made me think though, how do they choose what do.

    With that in mind and to help evolve our passion for this game more and to potentially inspire the mod community further I’d like to pose this question.



    What mods would you like to see developed and why?

    First thanks to all the modders whom creates and improves content for the TSW. DTG should really learn a thing or two from them.
    I prefer mods that improves sound of trains and coaches, wagons, so that is the area where I would like to see more mods the most.
    Again big thanks and keep up a great work.

    Personally I prefer to create texture and a few sound mods. This can include things like rebranding, introducing real world brands (which DTG never include due to copyright reasons) or simply replacing a low res texture with a higher and better quality version. My sound mods include fixing small bugs or including things like station and train announcements.

    I’d love to have more access or flexibility to the game. I’d fix things like poor scenery or add more details (assets) to stations as some are pretty plain looking.

    londonmidland your branding that pop ups within the routes is a real life giver to the stations. I hate wandering around a station and then all of a sudden theres an unimaginative. coffee poster.

    You sir are a licensing nightmare but an asset to the games realism.

    I honestly prefer the scenery mods as I’m less knowledgable about rolling stock and spend more time inside looking out.
    Particularly fine are the sky, improved rain and winter trees mods.

    Mods that dont bring in brand new sounds, but rather, adding sounds for a train to make it louder. Like the cab car in boston sprinter. It is too quiet at speeds less than 70mph.

    I’d like to see more variety In the car colours, advertising etc. Can any mod makers provide an idea what they can get access to to change?

    More 3d texture mods like TheShotte's wonderful upgrades to Clinchfield. Although I also appreciate good signage- RL ad posters and route maps, for example.

    Horn mods have saved a few North American diesels for me - I would love a new horn for the C40-8.

    That's a DTG thing unfortunately. I think 4.26 is capable of it but I wouldn't bank on a mod doing it I'm afraid. I think there's still parts of the core game they cannot access if I understand correctly.

    I'd love the station platform signs to get an edit. They're supposed to be purple and white systemwide like the ones at Back Bay and Ruggles.

    Line color over white is classic MBTA

    Honestly, if somebody would fix the Br 112 look (the lights mostly), I would probably end up getting the route at a discount. But remodelling locos is definitely far from easy.

    something to increase the building lights and sound mods that add on train announcements or even a desktop application/soundboard which can use whilst driving

    Realistic numbering mod for Cane Creek's UP AC4400CW's. The current list covers incorrect models, such the later AC44's and the Ex-SP models, as well as numbers that flat out don't exist on an AC4400CW.

    The number range should between #6550 to #6887, which are all low ditch light, nose numberboard models, including the 35 CNW models (#6703-6737).

    I would do it myself, but I had issues 1st trying to repack the 1 file back into a .pak file, plus my laptop died....

    Another but possible impossible fix for the cane creek 4400,lowering its ride height and the rear trucks not having rotating wheels, drives me nuts.. I have little hope skyhook themselves are going to fix this, i entered a support ticket but they never replied.

    There are two problems with the front of the 112. Relatively little (which makes me wonder, why DTG didn't get it right), but going a long way.

    The ditch lights should be further apart, basically, the rim should be ending almost at the start of the locos round edge. Both these and the sockets for the end of the train markers are moved too much towards the centre. The other problem is the top headlight, for some reason they've made it too big whereas it should be the same as the rest, they've used the same form for both. These two could help the loco a whole lot.

    Firstly thanks so much for your efforts across the game, greatly appreciated - would you consider updating your excellent Bakerloo advertising pack for 4.26? It brings so much to the atmosphere.

    I would be interested to know if anyone could build more into the display screens. Dtg have started this with the Amtrak but a lot of the displays were static, can anyone make them live data from the sims graph data

    Would it be possible to enable stock from Oakville Sub and Cane Creek to be subbed in on Sandpatch? I think i asked about it ages ago and the consensus on why Sandpatch didn't use Oakville stock was because Oakville was released after Sandpatch. Oakville uses stock from Sandpatch and also now from Cane Creek so an older route using stock from a newer route is possible but Sandpatch doesn't seem to do it.


    Would be great if someone could get Sandpatch using other stock.

    I had mods for the GWE and also the Diesels Legend pack which also did the 101 in the correct livery. It included stuff like the ballast, station signs, sleepers, removal of overhead cables ETC I would not of bought the pack without such mods so Thanks to whoever did them. Alas I think they are not working with the core update so I'd love them to be updated.

    The plants render far to late, so you see a lot of green blobs and the show glow in the dark behaviour. This looks horrible.

    It was made by the brilliant Mr Shiiba. He’s been updating his other mods, but not this one, which makes me think he’s probably tried, but run into problems. It’s a shame, because for me it’s the best mod for TSW2, bar none. Without it, I find Diesel Legends unplayable. With it, it’s my favourite DLC.

    Fingers crossed Mr Shiiba hasn’t given up trying to making it work.

    Atpyatt’s add-on to the above patch has been updated, and still works on its own.

    Thanks and agree the mod made a huge difference. I hope he can update it. There is a tool that updates mods to 4.26 but I suppose this would not work?

Installing these without the MrShiiba mods won't break anything but obviously you're missing quite a lot of things. However I think the blueprint mod that removes the OHLE isn't a simple conversion like the rest, so going to have to wait and hope the author figures it out."

    One mod I think would be good if possible is something which shows the locations of collectibles either on the map or in the same way as the objective markers have a toggle switch to turn it on.

    If you could drive along the route and have the option to turn a collectible marker on to help you find them that would be awesome. TrainSim-Matt I’ve tagged you as a suggestion too.

    I know the collectibles are hidden Easter eggs but I’d like to sweep up easier

    yes and no, it’s subjective and I like to complete things but unfortunately don’t have time to trawl 50 miles on foot over ten routes. I would imagine if it’s a mod you wouldn’t need to download it,if it’s a toggle switch I can turn it on. Meets all needs :cool:

    i do yes, it’s more the non station things like broken fences I’d like to see easier, the halfway between stop collectibles. If I, searching for one thing I’d like to go straight to it rather than check off 23 others first

    Just create a scenario where you do
    the whole line start to finish and stop by each one of those collectibles that are in the middle of nowhere. It's the only thing I use the scenario planner for.

    I'd love to see a camera position/angle mod for the loco selection diorama to show more of the side of the loco.

    (The camera in the diorama screen can be moved & rotated with universal UE4 console unlocker, but it reverts to front view of the loco once you lock the camera again - it needs to be locked to be able use any of the UI buttons).

    What I would like is a mod to remove those ghastly epilepsy/vomit inducing videos while the game is loading.
    MS flight sim has a similar loading delay, but is much more tastefully done.
    Even the old TS slideshow would be preferable.
    It doesn’t have to look like Street Fighter.

    Oh and did I say how much I dislike them…
