Unreal 5 in a new TSW Yes I know it that it is far ahead, before we see it. Can be 2-3 year. Matt says so in a stream. But this technology must be good for Dovetail and for us in the end. It is a very exciting technology Epic Games has developed. Nanite New Internal mesh format and rendering technology. Before Unreal 4 it was how many polygons in a screen who determined frames a second. it's almost gone now with this new technology. Now you don't see tree at all in long distance. They suddenly appear some kilometers in front of the train But there is in low quality. And and the closer you get to the tree the better the quality it will be. So trees is maybe in 3-4 different quality. If you want good quality on the tree at once and you saw all the trees in landscape, it would be under 1 fps. But with Unreal 5 it is not a case. You can have trees everywhere with max quality You can have trillions polygons and still have a 30 fps. Must be so easier way to build locomotive trees etc. You do not have to think about quality compared to distance (hopefully) But right now it only applies to static objects. But they are also working to solve it with moving objects Lumen a new way to show light Lumen (UE5), is a fully dynamic global illumination solution that lets you create dynamic, believable scenes where indirect lighting adapts on the fly to changes to direct lighting or geometry, for example, changing the sun’s angle with the time of day, turning on a flashlight, or opening an exterior door. With Lumen, you no longer have to author lightmap UVs, wait for lightmaps to bake, or place reflection captures See this in this you tube video Link Yes I have even see some have performance problems with Lumen and so right now. so we'll see next year when it's released how good it is. But in any case, it is an exciting development we have ahead of us
