In today’s roadmap, it is confirmed that the Meißen branch WILL be coming to the game, after BRD’s release! What are your thoughts on this? Roadmap link: https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-sim-world/articles/article/tsw2-roadmap-7-september-2021
I am pleasantly surprised by the addition of the Meißen branch to the roadmap! Maybe after all, Nahverkehr Dresden will become Nahverkehr Dresden, although I'm not sure wether it will give off the feeling of being Rush Hour anyhow, as I can't spot an indication that they would add more traffic to the line Still, I am happy that it's supposed to be a free update for the route owners, as far as I'm concerned? Gonna tune into the stream this evening, let's see where this will lead us. Thank, DTG
It proves they can do route extensions after all! The cynic in me thinks that this was the plan all along. When they realised they could only do one branch rather than both, they announced that neither would be included. Thus, when they eventually announced that one branch would be included after all, everyone would be delighted rather than disgruntled about the missing one.
I'm assuming what they've done is what they do sometimes with TS1 routes, ie put the track in but no scenery, so they can put the scenery in later as an update or a seperate add-on (I doubt they'll do this sort of thing for a seperate add-on though based on what they've said previously). They've probably been able to do extensions for a while, they just haven't for commercial reasons.
They can, but this isn't the way people think of it. People usually think either: - Payed extension to route OR - Linking routes This is adding a free patch onto a route, which (seemingly) has a near enough seperate timetable from the mainline Considering it's already in Upcoming, I wouldn't be surprised.
So if they can add this on to an already released route, surely that means they can do extensions to routes to make them longer
I am with the idea that the trackage for this branch was already there and all they need to do is finish it, this is much different then doing an extension to a route where they have to build it from start.
The bad with the Meißen branch is that I always have to switch my keyboard language settings to write this... PS oh, sir Stujoy was the first one!
Guess I am lucky as my keyboard, although not german, has a shortcut for that So I can flex with my ßkill
In case you do use microsoft, you can also hold the ALT button and type "225", and then release ALT if that is any faster for you
10 km, 4 stations. (Neusoernewitz, Meissen, Meissen-Altstadt, and Meissen-Triebischtal). S2 was 12km, 4 stations (Dresden-Klotzsche, Dresden-Industriegelaende, Dresden-Grenzstrasse, and Dresden Flughafen).
Well, that's a nice surprise. Thanks, guys. I was in Meißen just last Sunday - beautiful place. I'm looking forward to the implementation in TSW. But seriously... you did it on purpose. First announced, then cancelled, then finally realised... You just wanted to bring a bit of drama into our grey everyday life, didn't you?
A really nice surprise, will make this DLC even better! I noticed Dresden Flughafen was mentioned on the stream, as basically a “no” What were the reasons again for the non-inclusion of this? Obviously more complicated than the Meißen branch?
One of the stations is underground, and it's a nightmare (and really time consuming) for them to do underground stations due to baked lighting etc for ultimately what could be little pay-off. It could be done but I think they'd have rather spent that time and resources on other parts of the route, or on Brighton.
It's crazy that about 700m of a tunnel with one station can be such a hiccup. RT probably had to be a nightmare then.
Thanks, it’s a bit of a shame, but the Meißen branch is certainly more than a welcome addition, at least!
It should an an element of game play that will add some extra variance so it's welcome. Its also a sign of listening to the community.
Losing trust is much easier than gaining it, so it would be a stupid choice by DTG to do that on purpose
Thanks for that breblimator. I just had a look at the screenshots and following from that, found that 24:42 into the video is where they start talking about it. It is 10 minutes or so and they talk briefly about the porcelain factory, how it will make the S1 train route longer and how the Meißen Branch is why the fixes for destinations on PIS got delayed a bit (because the files were being worked on for the Meißen Branch).
Yassss!!! I am glad that DTG came around on this issue. Now do the DOSTOS with high doors and I promise I will buy every DLC that gets released for TSW2.
Adding back the Meißen branch was the right move. Good job DTG for adding it back and good job for the user who started the thread concerning about the branch and the impact the route may have.
Pleasantly surprised with this and the screenshots looked great. DTG has listened and done the right thing. Thank you!
Thanks DTG! It is very important for me! You made me happy !!! I really hope that the second branch will also appear with us! Dresden is gaining stunning shape and functionality. This is great! Such a great driving experience! We missed this very much.
Here what I think is going on. German rush hour route has notting to do with the rush hour timetable. Its empty and totally contrary of which it should be. So now is the right time to calm things down so here you have it a branch line, but again full timetable will be included like it was in the bakerloo line. Enjoy your branches and extensions, but whats the point when the interval between trains is usually half an hour. So again you just have green all the way to the branch line
How long is the großenhein branch in this route? Just the großenhein cottbus banhof or it stretches further north?
If you look closely, you can see in the screenschots shown on stream they finaly have the correct catenary with wires that dont stop in the middel of the air This went from a no buy to when it's on sale for me..
