So, anyone who watched tonight’s stream will have accidentally heard that DTG have a new title coming out at some point in the future. I think some speculation should begin right now. It’s not fish and it’s not trains, but something different.

    So, what’s your best guess?

Something attempting (again) to make use of that FSX IP they spent so much money on?

    Cheers

You're welcome to speculate, but be warned that this may be something that is never spoken of again. We do occasionally work on prototypes simply to try out other tech.

That would be the logical first conclusion - or at least it was mine, anyways. But wouldn‘t it be a little odd to invest into that when Microsoft have launched their flight sim? I‘ve got the feeling that this might be something completely different.

It‘s fun to speculate anyways :D

Planes. I hope so anyway and if this is what it is, I hope it comes to PS5.

For some daft reason the first thing that entered my head was an archery game. Don’t ask me why. I probably assumed it would have something where physics and multiple variables would be involved and archery has that. Would I play such a game? Possibly. I still don’t know why that was the first thing I thought of though.

They have fish and they have trains. This is an absolute boomery. Now it will be something more popular and related at the same time. Garbage truck simulator?

PS or... train simulator simulator :o

Lap dancing sim. It'll be an extension of TSW, so you can finish your shift, walk across the station concorse without hitting any invisible walls, have a few pints at the pub over the road and finish the night in an accurately simulated gentleman's club. VR support included at launch.

    LapDanSim

Since DTG is based in the UK, I suspect it will be one of the following:

    I. Darts Sim
    2. Snooker Sim
    3. Cricket Sim
Or a bundle of all three called There's No Rush (Arriving this decade).
    :D

That's quite a unique take on a flight simulator niche- I'd be up for that

Well, it should have a fan/participant base that may be small, but is dedicated enough to be counted on for purchases. It should also be something that lasts a while, which eliminates my first idea of Cliff-Diving Sim.

How about Water Taxi Sim? Pilot various kinds of boats to stops around various rivers, dealing with whatever hazards happen to be there. Bonus points for including Venice's gondolas. And even better, it's yet another opportunity to completely ignore Chicago and our extensive waterways, as TSW currently does with our extensive rail networks .

I know I would love to have a ship simulator on consoles, even if it were on next gen only for the higher machine capability.

I rather stick pins in my eyes than watch the streams nowadays. Jamie and Sam make the streams decent. Matt laughs when it comes to people asking to fix the bugs and the rest look as bored as watching paint dry.

We got a good clue from the jet-powered passengers and the UFO in Cathcart.
I'd bet they're working on an interstellar simulator so they can compete with their neighbours in Guilford.
And yes, we will be able to catch alien fish on the planets we discover.

Nice, we‘ll see trains you people wouldn‘t believe. I just hope the trains have decent adhesion in those conditions and their tractive effort isn‘t lost like tears in rain. :D

I don't really know why, or what even makes me think it; but I've recently been - almost dreaming of - a DTG Ship Simulator.

    - Fits in somewhat with Fishing Sim, with the water based theme.
    - Similar to TSW in the transport sense - You're transporting passengers/cargo place to place, but on Water
    - Would also have a fair bit of Free Roam capability.
    - Could go near enough anywhere.
    - Water - I doubt - would take all that much to fully recreate - especially compared to, say, a 60mi railway.

    It just seems... Right, almost.

Also, Ship Sims - especially on console - are almost non-existent. And considering that DTG have always been dominant in Train Simulation, maybe they could take advantage of this gap and bring us some ship simulation.

Indeed. That's one of the reasons I believed that a Ship Sim - and this could by extension apply to others - Subways (WOS only covers, what, Four Systems?), Monorails and such.

I think, tbf, Subways would just fall into TSW.

DTG's world headquarters are located in a dockyard next to a tidal river that sees shipping pass by, so that would be a good guess.

I'd love a ship simulator, we've only had a couple of decent ones in the last two decades. There's also an almost endless list of various ships and ports to model, so definitely no shortage of potential content. VSTEP (the Dutch company who made Ship Simulator Extremes, 2008 & 2006) are working on a new consumer level ship simulator, but we haven't really heard much new detail in the last couple of years. They mainly make professional ship simulators for the real shipping industry so I guess that is their primary business and priority at the moment.

I think that's one of the best things about a potential Ship Sim World is there is plenty to make.

Of course they could make a solid attempt at the Thames, or maybe do something such as Dover - Calais, or the Clyde's Islands.

They have plenty of choice. And it would have a free roam aspect - provided it was made.

Here are my three route ideas for a potential "Ship Sim World.".

USA: St. Clair River. 65 kilometers/ 40.5 miles.
    Germany: Kiel Canal. 98 kilometers/ 61 miles.
    Panama: Panama Canal. 82 kilometers/ 51 miles.
