I stand corrected, looks right in terms of coloring, weathering seems fine as well, the Unity lighting I think does bleach it a bit in brighter areas, but not sure how much can be done to fix that. There are two other issues I do have with it though looking at those two pics though.

1: The platform doesn't match, it's way too dark, it should be much brighter, and it looks a bit taller in real life to me, but maybe it's just perspective.
2: The windows on the station look awful, considering flight simulators have things like modeled interiors and parallax textures now I don't think it's much to ask for them to at least be reflective.

If both are corrected I'd say it's pretty much a dead on recreation of that station.

I think they have already fixed that.

The graphics part looks decent, somewhere in between TS and TSW but wiht PBR and better support for industry standard texture- and model formats. The question now is performance, draw distance and physics.

My concern is short draw distance with mountains that looks like the ones we know from TSW. If it can't handle that well, like distance mountains that we have in TS, this sim will be good for urban routes but nothing more than that.

Compared to TSW I like the daylight and shadows better in SimRail (from what we have seen in screenshots so far) But again it seems to me that the draw distance isn't that great.

Maybe this is what DTG needed, a competitor. Maybe TSW2 will change a little bit after Simrail's release.

Don't think so. On the opposite it could be good for them: they can concentrate 100% on the beloved consoles and finally drop the burden of PC players

You may forget that those routes maybe are just "warmed up" for the new game from their actual simulation environment pool of routes. As i can "see" and think about it, it will be like with ZUSI. The planning and making of a new route will take a decade when it is that long. I'm not sure, but i would not expect any further long route that fast as you may think (other than maybe another route they already have made for their business sims). That is a lot of work to do, and with the level of precision they aim, it will take even longer. No comparison to TSW, definetely not a competitor. "Just another simulator" with special interests like Run8 or ZUSI.

But (hopefully) with better support for modding and industry standard 3d/texture workflow.

I assume third- and second party devs will be the ones that create routes outside of Poland if the game become popular and gets good reviews. But since they focus on routes only in Poland it will take a lot of time to hit the big market in UK/Germany/USA.

Those two things are not the most relevant argments for a 3rd-party to jump in tbh. I would not care much about reviews at all, but sure a bit how spread the game gets to the audience. But the most important thing would be the amount of developing time for a route with rolling stock. It tends to be not economically really fast.

The "problem" with TSW and now maybe SimRail is that you get really close to the trains and all the objects along the route. Which means you have to put a lot more time into development of 3d models and textures. And to be able to create good models you need good reference materials, which also takes time to collect. So I'm not expecting development for SimRail to be any faster than TS, but the time spent can maybe be focused on adding details and features instead of fighting with the blueprint editor.

Time will tell, the SimRail SDK is confirmed in the same way the "editor" was for TSW some years ago. And we all know what happened witht that :)

Since we know SAM has himself a youtube channel (Colonel Failure) where he has played many a train game not all made by dtg,do you think he might play SIM RAIL when ever it gets released?

Yes, I think he will. And maybe Matt too, just like they did with Hmmsim Metro.

The wheel of history has been moving forward, and the pace of the times has never stopped. I want to wait for it to be released, I can wait for the real answer. So far, most of the answers we have gotten are based on game development pictures provided by game developers. A game that wants to be recognized and resonated by players requires a lot of time to reconcile and polish. Currently, the TS standard cannot be used to measure games released in 2021.

TSW2 and SimRail 2021 have almost no gradual rails, and straight rails feel terrifying.

This is why I love Diesel Railcar Simulator, uneven track with matching cab sway. In TSW it feels like the train is following a static path, with cab sway that follows a pattern instead of being dynamic.

Is the end of the third quarter the end of September? September 30 or early October?

It can be seen from the appearance that the gradual amplitude of the rails and the swing amplitude of the locomotive compartment will further increase the realism of TSW2 and the city in the scene.

Both NA 3rd Party developers Searchlight Simulations and TruRail Simulations both have interest in SimRail2021.

Early morning at Katowice station, express train begins an almost 300 km journey to Warsaw.
SimRail will give the opportunity to cover the entire route.

I'm not a fan of the morning/evening lighting. The rays make everything look hazy/foggy and the orange tint is often a bit too strong.
It looks better through the day.

The sky was better in the pictures above, but overall it's better than TSW in terms of clouds, lights etc...

Probably still being finalised, the sim is still in production.
You can see where they've crudely blotted out the coupling.

If SIM2021 is more efficient in route development and the mileage exceeds TSW2, it will undoubtedly compete directly with TSW2.

While this does indeed look interesting, I must say, if my main source of information on this sim is the forum of its competitor, because there aren't any news on either Steam nor their website since April, there is something seriously wrong in the communitcations department.

So more or less hidden if you don't use Facebook. Unfortunately a lot of developers go this low effort approach of using Facebook, Discord and others as their main method of communication which locks out a considerable amount of people not using those platforms. A proper website ideally with a well moderated official forum cannot be replaced by those. Something DTG does quite right.

But it costs a lot of extra time and money small developers do not have. Or the development effort will get reduced in time from that extra amount of work, what means the quality will decrease at least. Most Facebook pages are usable without any login.

You have a very dated view of the internet if that's how you think, forums are a rarity compared to 20 years ago, and they don't generate traffic in the way platforms like Facebook can. Fact is people stick largely to the same few websites, in the same way most people only shop from a few big places like Walmart and Amazon. Of course there's demand for more niche sites, like how there's demand for more niche online and offline stores. But those places pander toward hardcore hobbyists of their niche, or groups of people who aren't supported by broader outlets. If you want to appeal to those who aren't already in the know big sites like Facebook & Twitter are your priority.

I am not talking about advertisement, but actual info on the game itself. Steam, the place where they try and sell this has near zero information and the last official update was like I said in April, the only thing that changed there besides that is the quite removal of a release time frame. Facebook and co is good to drag people with shiny pictures, but not to list features.

Like mentioned before they are active on Discord, posting screenshots from SimRail and renders of 3d models that are currently being worked on. The plan is still that a demo will be released during the "Steam Next Fest"

Devs share some screenshots now and then, but not much more than that. Then some users, very often the same people, are having a rant about TSW and DTG...

It has changed from Q3 to 2021, so it should still be released this year, but who knows.
